What will happen to the current hardest beam routines in the new 2022-2024 Code Of Points (CoP) ?

  • The NEW 2022-2024 Code of Points (CoP) were released recently and there are major changes to the connections and elements for the balance beam! As we know, the current lineup of beam routines for the Tokyo Olympics are difficult and I have picked the hardest routines we know of so far, to show a comparison between the old and the new CoP so everyone can see the changes and how they affect the routines better! I included Suni's routine although I know it is not potentially one of the harder beam routines because her routine actually has some interesting changes in the new CoP. Hope you guys enjoy!!

      Ugh! I'm with you! I absolutely HATE Wolf turns! I don't care if it's one or three of them... Even when performed perfectly, they are just NOT pretty! I wish they'd just make them worth zero points so they'd quit doing them on ALL apparatus! LOL They aren't pretty on floor either. They do them a ton in college gymnastics as well. Leaps of any kind are far more gorgeous and fun to watch! And Wolf turns are so horrid on the knees! I haven't been a gymnast for some time now but I tried them when they first became really popular and OMG my knees were so angry! 🤣

    I'm lowkey so nervous of Guan Chenchen missing a few connections like the split leap + slipt leap 1/2 + korbut, because even though she has monster difficulty, I hope connections won't damage the start value.

    guan chenchen's side split 1/2 and side straddle 1/2 will not be credited because the new code requires these elements to hit 180 degrees at the START or END of the turn (not in the middle)

    • @andrewh.7076
      @andrewh.7076 Před 3 lety +2

      The full clause is “in jumps, leaps and hops with 1⁄2 turn the prescribed position must be reached at the beginning or at the end”. In this case, her switch leap 1/2 won’t get credit either. She is basically doing a Johnson 1/4 here.

      Oh my, if so wouldn't everyone's switch leap 1/2 not be credited? Since the turn has to be reached at the beginning or the end, and the turn in the switch leap 1/2 is reached in the middle. In that case, everyone's D-score in this video would drop.

      @@FlyHighGymnastics Possibly yes. let's see how strict will the judges in the next quad enforce this rule. Though everyone in this video is leaping while turning, Chenchen's too obviously looks like a switch leap 1/4 to straddle pike position with additional 1/4 turn.

    Personally I think it's a bit weird the way the code of points updates, given how short most gymnasts' careers are. Imagine training most of your elite career/preparing for elite with a certain COP in mind and then everything changes. Or is there something I'm not understanding about how this works?

    Isn't there a deduction for a mount with no DV in the new code ?

    • @murasakino101
      @murasakino101 Před 2 lety +2

      No I don't think there ever has been. All that matters is that the gymnast gets on the beam. If they required more difficult mounts, there would be more falls at the start of beam. It is a shame that we don't see them much anymore though. They were more popular back then

    • @LadyMelena

      @@murasakino101 There is 0.1 deduction for a mount without DV (Section 12 page - 4 from the 2022-2024 code). There are quite a few easy A-mounts in the code that most gymnasts use, but they are limited in how they get on the beam.

    • @FlyHighGymnastics
      @FlyHighGymnastics  Před 2 lety

      Yes, the new code (2022-2024) does *not* award connections for *B + F or Higher acro with 0.2 for dismounts* anymore. Hence, Simone's dismount combination will only receive the 0.1 series connection bonus

  • @marciomarcallobo4662

    • @FlyHighGymnastics
      @FlyHighGymnastics  Před 3 lety +2

      Kara performed a Split Ring Jump and a Switch Ring Leap. Both of which are under different numbers in the CoP, she can still perform both and receive credit for both. Only the split ring leap and split ring jump when performed together in the same routine, will result in the second leap or jump not being credited as they are under the same number and cannot be repeated in a routine.
