WORD OF ADVICE: after having done Disney After Hours at HS last year and having a great time, we did the event at MK last night. I don’t want to say it was ruined, because it wasn’t (we rode 15 rides from 8PM to 12:45). But it did end on a sour note. It should NOT take 55 minutes to get from MK to your car at the TTC. No monorail and only one ferry running? Ridiculous. My tip? Only do this event at MK if you’re staying at a Disney resort with direct bus access from the front of MK.
Wow - interesting! When we did it, we were staying at a resort and were bummed out that there was no monorail (we were at Poly). We had to take a bus to Poly, but it was quick at least. That’s awful that it took so long. 55 minutes feels even longer when it is after 1am. 🙁

I know you're Disney through and through but would you consider doing similar park guides for Universal studios and island of adventures? I like your style of video a lot and it would be great to see your take on the best way to do those parks.
Factor in the fact that you can get off ROTR or SDD or Runaway Railway...then run right back through the line and do it again...over and over and OVER... totally worth it!! Especially (like I've said before) if coming from several states away, and this is your one shot to do it right!
Agreed - in many ways it is superior to a day with Lightning Lanes because you don’t have to bother with booking them and - most importantly - you can jump in whichever queue you want and do so again and again if you’d like. It’s a very fun night.
@@EarScouts Absolutely! And getting from one area to the next is SO much faster. We've literally had the hypothetical discussion (since they don't offer it every day at every park) that if they DID offer After Hours if it would be better to ONLY do After Hours instead of regular tickets. It's not an option, and there's a lot to be said about missing a LOT of the park experience with After Hours...even with the overlapping times...from the foods to the shows that you just can't do After Hours. But SO much about EVERYTHING ELSE about the "better" of After Hours, almost might make it worth it. We usually come down for about a week or so. And we snag every After Hours we can while we're there. Sleep in, do Disney Springs, hang out at the resort...then ease over to the park. We absolutely LOVE After Hours for EVERY reason you mentioned in the video. NOT TO MENTION...on the way out, we have literally had this exchange with a popcorn guy: "Can we still get some popcorn?" "Sure! How many do you need?" "(we exchange looks, and our popcorn fiend son says) "How many can I get?" Turns out the answer was four boxes handed to him at once. No line, no crowds, and all the popcorn you can carry...it's totally worth it!! HAHA!!

I appreciate this video. I got maybe into the first 5 min and went ahead and booked our AH tickets for Hollywood. Theres all the things my boys and I love to ride and itll be nice to do it when there's less people.
We did Magic Kingdom after hours in January and got there at 7pm and were able to get all rides in and watch both fireworks shows. Thinking about coming back in mid June to do Hollywood Studios and Epcot. We love to spend the days at our resort (AOA) and loved the reduced crowd.

Aww - thanks so much. 😊 It’s hard to say what days will be crowded anymore - it all seems somewhat random these days. I remember many days in March being dead last year, but then some weekends were packed with Spring Breakers. You could check the various crowd calendars online, but I haven’t found them to be super reliable since things reopened from the pandemic. Hopefully that will be during one of those lulls I remember from last year. 🤞
We did After Hours at MK last year and it was so fun! They didn't have any characters around though (at least not that I noticed!) I think I may have to check out a HS After Hours next 😊
Hi Beth! Yes, they don’t do special characters at MK. Last year, there was nothing special at MK for After Hours, but this year they are doing special showings of Enchantment (the fireworks show from the 50th Anniversary).

Hello Rob, my wife and I have been watching a lot of your videos preparing for our August 2024 trip. We have already bought tickets for an After Hours event, but we are contemplating entering the park early that day (maybe rope drop, maybe a little after) with a regular park ticket. I understand that Genie+ is not valid during the After Hours portion of the day; but, in your opinion, would it make sense for us to buy Genie+ during the regular park hours portion (providing we enter in the morning sometime) or skip Genie+?

What I like about all of the after hours events is that if I plan a Universal trip, I can just do one or two of the after hours, events or parties, and that’s enough Disney for us. My child is 14 now and prefers Universal.
Yikes; I was weighing it but tickets jumped to $175 (!!) now for this event. We currently have a 4-day pass (not hopper) and plan to skip AK. So, we can either budget 2 full days at HS, or 1 full day plus purchase the nighttime pass. 3-day is about $475 and 4-day is $608 (difference of $133). Plus with a full day we'd be definitely buying 2 ILL and 2 Genie+. Question one: Does Disney even allow you to back down the number of days (I am staying on property at Art) - five nights with a 4-day pass. I am considering switching to a 3-day and adding the nighttime pass. My (adult) son mostly wants to experience Star Wars stuff and I'm worried about the stress of ILL and G+ and all that on a regular day, so I'm trying to figure out which way to go. I don't care as much about missing the shows, but we could grab one from 7:00-9:00 I guess. Plus to complicate matters, we're visiting the week of March 18 (high crowds predicted). HS nighttime is on a Wednesday. Second question: do you recommend regular park-goers AVOID the park that has a night event as it will get more crowded from 7-9p when you're trying to squeeze in the last rides? Thanks for advice!

Hi Rob, I know this might seem random, but I'd like to know what's the model of the Steady Cam/Stick you are using for your videos and if you'd recommend it. I'm searching for something that can give the stability you have and that I can use throughout the parks to capture the best moments with our kids next time we go to Disney. I used to ride with the GoPro with the chest mount, but now what I'd really like to capture is our son and daughter's expressions the most (without getting sick watching a trembling video afterwards). Hey Rob, was hoping for some more insight on booking LL’s with a group of 8 (two families of 4). We’ll be travelling together, but I’m wondering if there’s value in linking our MDE profiles to book attractions as 8 people or whether this will be a hindrance. Will we be able to select just a portion of the group for a LL or do we always need to select all 8? I just think leaving it as two separate MDE groups could mean we aren’t getting close to same return times especially for competitive rides at the 7am opening selection time. I would really appreciate any insight.

Hello, I am traveling to Disney World in a few weeks, I have a question, I am going with my wife, my daughter (2 years old) and my dad. If I use genie plus, when I book an attraction, does the entire group have to enter at the same time? Or we can enter separately, because one of us has to keep the girl. If we enter separately for a ride, I probably won't be able to book another until the entire group has entered. Thanks for the information
Just to offer a differing opinion. We tried this event last year. Got stuck on Rise for 1 hour (you only get 4 hours) Slinky had 30 min wait throughout the whole. TOT had 40 min wait. We got on 5 rides in total including Rise. Was it worth it? You decide.

Hi Mary! They are currently scheduled through April, but they also just added some new dates. They usually do After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon in the summer months, but it would be cool to have some events in the main parks, as well. We are going in March to the after hours events. What quick service restaurants are open during the event? Would you suggest eating at the park at 7 when they let guests in?
Hi Sharon! I would eat before going or right at 7. Your food options at HS during the event will be Woody’s Lunch Box, Anaheim Produce cart on Sunset Blvd and the Milk Stand & Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge.

Hello! First off, thanks for watching our videos! I think it’s best to only choose one at 7 am because you can’t see return times during that first 15 minutes or so. For that reason, there’s no point in having more than 1 because it will just add clutter. Once you can see return times, I think it can be good to have 2-3 selected to give you more chances to score a good return time. More than 3 means you might miss out on a good time because you have to sift through them and may not tap through fast enough. Good luck with those Genie Slots! 🧞♂️🎰
Hello! It really depends on the ride. The procedure is a little different at each attraction and you basically just have to ask the cast member at the entrance. Some rides like TRON will have a Rider Switch Setup station set up before you reach the entrance. As for Genie, they usually want each person to tap in when they ride, not all at once when the first person rides. Hope that helps.
Still alternating, unfortunately. My understanding from talking to Cast Members is that they have a shortage of lifeguards and can’t seem to hire enough to cover both water parks and all the resorts. Hopefully that will change soon. 🤞
Hello! Unfortunately, there are not typically special characters or free food at Extended Evening Hours, but the crowds can be similar during slower times of the year. If the parks are busy, though, EEH tends to be busy as well. There are a LOT of people at all those different Deluxe and DVC resorts. 😅
I think it depends on the night. Some nights they let folks in a little early if everyone is ready to roll with the wristbands, etc - but you can’t count on them opening up until 7. Hope you enjoy the event!

I know this might seem random, but I'd like to know what's the model of the Steady Cam/Stick you are using for your videos and if you'd recommend it. I'm searching for something that can give the stability you have and that I can use throughout the parks to capture the best moments with our kids next time we go to Disney. I used to ride with the GoPro with the chest mount, but now what I'd really like to capture is our son and daughter's expressions the most (without getting sick watching a trembling video afterwards).

I purchased the after hours for hollywood studios last year - It was NOT smooth over crowded- long wait times.. Do you feel like this event is better ran now?
Hey Rob, was hoping for some more insight on booking LL’s with a group of 8 (two families of 4). We’ll be travelling together, but I’m wondering if there’s value in linking our MDE profiles to book attractions as 8 people or whether this will be a hindrance.
Will we be able to select just a portion of the group for a LL or do we always need to select all 8?
I just think leaving it as two separate MDE groups could mean we aren’t getting close to same return times especially for competitive rides at the 7am opening selection time.
I would really appreciate any insight.

Hello, I am traveling to Disney World in a few weeks, I have a question, I am going with my wife, my daughter (2 years old) and my dad. If I use genie plus, when I book an attraction, does the entire group have to enter at the same time? Or we can enter separately, because one of us has to keep the girl.
If we enter separately for a ride, I probably won't be able to book another until the entire group has entered.

Can you do a video on the best parks to hop between and why (assuming 2 parks per day)?
Just to offer a differing opinion. We tried this event last year. Got stuck on Rise for 1 hour (you only get 4 hours) Slinky had 30 min wait throughout the whole. TOT had 40 min wait. We got on 5 rides in total including Rise. Was it worth it? You decide.
Same last year- it was long wait times- But I wonder if they changed it after the complaining ?
also the description says magic kingdom not hws.

Hi Mary! They are currently scheduled through April, but they also just added some new dates. They usually do After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon in the summer months, but it would be cool to have some events in the main parks, as well. Do the resort buses run after the event?
They do! But note that the Skyliner and boats do not, so you have to use buses for those resorts.
Is fantasmic a part of that cost?
We are going in March to the after hours events. What quick service restaurants are open during the event? Would you suggest eating at the park at 7 when they let guests in?
Hi Sharon! I would eat before going or right at 7. Your food options at HS during the event will be Woody’s Lunch Box, Anaheim Produce cart on Sunset Blvd and the Milk Stand & Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge.

Hello! First off, thanks for watching our videos! I think it’s best to only choose one at 7 am because you can’t see return times during that first 15 minutes or so. For that reason, there’s no point in having more than 1 because it will just add clutter. Once you can see return times, I think it can be good to have 2-3 selected to give you more chances to score a good return time. More than 3 means you might miss out on a good time because you have to sift through them and may not tap through fast enough. Good luck with those Genie Slots! 🧞♂️🎰

Hey Rob! We are going in April with a child who can't ride all the rides. Any advice on navigating rider swap ( we will also be paying for genie + )
Hello! It really depends on the ride. The procedure is a little different at each attraction and you basically just have to ask the cast member at the entrance. Some rides like TRON will have a Rider Switch Setup station set up before you reach the entrance. As for Genie, they usually want each person to tap in when they ride, not all at once when the first person rides. Hope that helps.
Bit random. Are they still alternating water parks? Or are they both going to be open at the same time this year?
Still alternating, unfortunately. My understanding from talking to Cast Members is that they have a shortage of lifeguards and can’t seem to hire enough to cover both water parks and all the resorts. Hopefully that will change soon. 🤞
Looks fun! We have extended hours for deluxe guests during our stay. Is that similar to this event with extra characters or free food?
Hello! Unfortunately, there are not typically special characters or free food at Extended Evening Hours, but the crowds can be similar during slower times of the year. If the parks are busy, though, EEH tends to be busy as well. There are a LOT of people at all those different Deluxe and DVC resorts. 😅

I think it depends on the night. Some nights they let folks in a little early if everyone is ready to roll with the wristbands, etc - but you can’t count on them opening up until 7. Hope you enjoy the event!
