I also love how Livia continues to try and bring the attention back to her even as Tony is laying on the floor, acting all overdramatic lol! Also, at 9:40 when she complains about Junior not knocking--"I could've been in the nude!"--I think it would have been hilarious if Junior responded, "Yeah, just like in the old days."

This is my mother. If I had a dime for each time she told me that 'sons take better care of their mother than daughters' (a dig to me of course)... She knew who she was though; in fact she took pride in referring to herSELF as' Livia'. How's that for sick? I went no contact 5 years ago and my life exponentially improved, thank God. My 2 sisters are exactly like Tony's too. I cut those ties as well for my own sanity-they are their mother's daughters-black holes of need, greed, manipulation, denial, delusion, etc. It was emotional and eye opening watching this series because of the family parallels.

This is my mother. If I had a dime for each time she told me that 'sons take better care of their mother than daughters' (a dig to me of course)... She knew who she was though; in fact she took pride in referring to herSELF as' Livia'. How's that for sick? I went no contact 5 years ago and my life exponentially improved, thank God. My 2 sisters are exactly like Tony's too. I cut those ties as well for my own sanity-they are their mother's daughters-black holes of need, greed, manipulation, denial, delusion, etc. It was emotional and eye opening watching this series because of the family parallels.

when I mentioned Livia to my own Livia-esque mother, she also said "reminds me of your grandmother" when in reality my grandma's only ever been good to me, i feel like now everything she ever said about my grandma can be applied to herself more than anyone, she told me my grandma wanted to infantilize me, send me away to a loony bin, she said she was a greedy heartless monster and all the while that was herself she was talking about, not my grandma.. sometimes I feel like I should've been my grandma's son instead of my mother's son.
The "I wish the Lord would take me" quote just made me laugh harder scene after scene
I'd love to know what David Chase had in plan for Livia and the plot in general had Nancy Marchand not died. Would be interesting to see how different the show would be.
I'll bet if she hadn't died in real life, her character would have sent Tony to his grave with a heart attack. She drove his blood pressure sky high and just plain drove everybody else crazy.

How did the actress not died, the storyline for season three was going to be Livia testifying against Tony about the airline tickets. Her death in real life forced them to compromise and they decided to kill off her character as well.
I’d assume they didn’t have too many big plans for the character. The actress was on borrowed time dying of cancer the entirety of the show.

I wish Nancy Marchand didn’t get sick and pass away in real life. Imagine how amazing her performance could have been if she had been around for the duration of the show. Maybe if she was still around, tony would have realized how terrible he was getting to be, especially in season 6

They had plans for her for season 3 and had to change everything which is why it seemed so weird compared to the first two seasons
Ryan Akwar oh without a doubt. Extremely talented actress. I’ll even go out on a limb and say she was a bigger scene-stealer than others like tony, Paulie, and ralph. I liked her relationship with AJ too. AJ got his depressing view on the world from Livia. Her words echo in his mind even in season 6. I can only imagine how crazy some scenes could have been in the later seasons. Tony was an absolute degenerate in season 6B. I would have loved to see that tony talk to his mother
That scene at the end when Tony falls on the stairs leaving the house and Livia starts laughing at him. Reminded me of the Emperor in Star Wars.
Also the one 'good' memory Tony had from growing up was his dad falling down and the whole family laughing at him 😝
Livia was an incredible character who had some of the biggest laugh out loud lines and Nancy Marchand delivered them brilliantly.

The fact that Livia could manipulate ANYONE but Janice just shows how scary of a villain Janice was.
Nah, Livia knew just how to play Janice. I'm pretty certain that there was no money, but Livia convinced Janice there was buried wealth just to screw with her.

This is why I always felt Janice should have replaced Livia on the show. A sibling rivalry wouldn't be as bad as a mother, but it would have been an interesting dynamic.

This is totally my family! The father mother relationship is totally my dad and his mom. The mother daughter and AJ and Tony are my family. Maybe this is how most families where a narcissist is involved are like. The griping continuously is so relatable.

Nancy really made Livia a real life person. “I will not eat in this house!”, everything thing she said was believable.
Olivia was the best to re watch...toxic but very funny...Nancy made her very real and consistent in her misery making of family.
It’s amazing how Livia has been gone since season 3, and she was still talked about the seasons after that.
Shows what a powerful character she was.
She was an amazing character and the writers had so much more planned for her before Nancy passed away.
