Years and years back I dod a version of Day using Fade's guitar tracks on my old Metallica CZcams that unfortunately got taken down. I called it "The Day That Never Fades" Those two songs fit together like a glove, its eerie.
I was initially shocked how similar this is to Fade To Black. I actually sang the first verse of Fade To Black to myself. And then For Whom the Bell Tolls to Creeping Death. These alternate styles are great for showing how similar some of these songs really are
More proof that all the haters of Death Magnetic are full of shit pretending these songs couldn't fit right into master of puppets or ride the lightning, etc.
My two cents: Hell yes! One of my favorite Death Magnetic songs on probably my favorite Metallica album. The drums sound pretty similar to DM, but i barely noticed; I was blown away by the acoustic guitar, soloing/guitar fills. The bass is on point and the chorus guitar riff hits like a truck, with *just* the right amount of chainsaw. Loved the chromatic, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" runs during the pre-bridge section, before the bass goes totally nuts (it really sounds like Cliff's wild, agressive-yet-melodic style). The "Creeping Death" riff lead nicely into the harmonized, thrahshy bridge and solos (which sound nice and varied themselves; the descending thirds and asscending chromatics--all top-notch nods to the OGs but you play them extremely well). Only really complaint that leaps to mind is the kick, maybe, but I'll need to give another listen with headphones to be sure. A really fun one, that combines some of their best material in a highly satisfying way. \m/

The solos are much more melodic than the original, congrats i must say. also what other post-black album track you consider doing? sort of curious to hear Sweet Amber in a Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets tone with the Live In Lubbock solo
The Day That Never Comes is the combination of everything that made Fade To Black and Sanitarium great only to be fucked over by the bad production. Till this day I still can't fathom how they let the production quality of Death Magnetic and St. Anger slide
TDTNC is a really underrated one of their ballads. I prefer the Demo version (In fact, blanket statement: Demo Magnetic > Death Magnetic in literally every case other than maybe That Was Just Your Life), but it's still really great in general. Sounds even better in RTL tone, like everything does.
Hey Ali I had a quick question about the part at 6:45 this harmony solo part. How did you get the sad harmony tonal part? If you could tell me the theory you used that would be appreciated.
I’m not exactly the most educated on music theory but I pretty much just played an arpeggio based on the rhythm underneath and harmonized it. My approach wasn’t exactly based on my knowledge of music theory lol

Glad you liked it man! There’s definitely room for improvement regarding production but it’s still a learning process
