@@Nickolasvictor659 that's right man.. it's like the electric guitar before Jimi and after him!
Kendrick isn’t even an actor, but he’s so passionate about his craft that his performance is ridiculous.
Facts
Saw some comment talking about his acting skills. Was gonna say the same thing, but figured it wasnt worth my breath to explain its not acting really.
That’s not even acting. That’s real feelings right there.
he is an actor
He was pretty great at playing a crackhead on power 😂😂😂
TPAB was the struggle. DAMN was the revelation. Mr. Morale is peace. Kendrick has found himself and that's a beautiful thing. I'm happy for him
That is perfect
GKMC was the life of his younger self
@@danny831g I think section 80 is his teenage years and then gkmc his after he grows up to an adolescent hence it being a coming of age album
@@rasesb he worked on them at the same time so they will have more in common than differences.
Especially from an age/perspective/world view stand point.

😂
L O fuckin L did you see the meme of j Cole being chased by Kendrick 😂
dude is obviously a world class rapper but his acting skills are unexpectedly really good lmao
diana 2pac
diana well idk why he would be acting about his bad decisions in his past
wtf are u talking about hes obviously acting regardless of his decisions and the intrinsic weight his lyrics carry recording this shit takes hours on hours like a movie multiple takes so i think hes acting xD
Blah Bam duh dipshit that's what the man JUST said. His acting was unexpectedly good! It really was TBH, but it was more so I feel, an acting of himself & how is inner thoughts felt during the regret & pain
diana what acting skills? dude starts drinkin and raps all crazy hes not acting lol
The only one that can diss Kendrick, is Kendrick himself.
somebody shoulda warned Drake!
Lmfao...he goes hard on himself
Kdot warned him many times, idk why drake even thought he was a competitor @RevoluShaune

The amount of times I listened to U during the depths of my depression…One night I was fed up, ready to end it, I put on a kendrick song & ended up listening to him for 6 straight hours. Kendrick is not my saviour.. but he did save my life. Music is Life.

@@sarah8seawhen you grow up you’ll change your mind
@@sarah8seado you even understand the entire reason why he made this song. It’s supposed to be abt himself, Kendrick feels like he’s losing himself ( like most rappers).
@@sarah8sea he literally continues the story from GKMC by saying that when his other friend died (on sing about me) he was too full of himself and his newfound wealth to do anything more than facetime him in the hospital, one time. not to mention the drunken rage he manages to perform while speaking from another one of his friends’ perspectives, seeing kendrick get pimped. this is the kind of shit english professors break down word for word.

I can’t be the only one that’s broke down in tears listening to this at one point in time, this song hits different when you’re in a low state.
No fr. couple years ago (and sometimes now) I was battling over my faith with God and just struggling in my faith. This song really did it for me. “Loving you is complicated” was l like my frustration with God and I just resonated with it so well. Even now during that second beat I cried a lil. That third beat/transition with the “I want you” and “when I get you” the devil speaking dang that killed me
@@Ashley-ro4xz I feel you 100% on that, I was suicidal a few years back when this came out and I swear the song got me. I remember I was In a Walmart parking lot at 3AM and this song started and bro straight chills ran through my body
You are not the only one. Back in 2015 'U' hit me hard when I was in a low state.
It also hits different when you’re recovering from said low state, the anger is triumph waiting to be realized
Hello low state hello tears
LOL, Why Drake would go at someone who basically tore his own self apart is a mystery to me.
Because of the mixture of his massive ego and his sensitive nature. Drake never did his homework and it shows how he got completely SCHOOLED by Kendrick
Wrd, and did even moreso on Mr Morale
@@TheRedGuy9yeah drizzy’s ego is so big yet so fragile, I hate it when people get like that. listen to Kendrick’s control verse and tell me, guess which rapper out of the like 10 he named got angry 😂

Kendrick Lamar is the greatest rap artist ever period. "Yea get up wit me"
Chills every time we watch this one.
Me too man, the second of "u" is powerful and for free is godly soulful
+D-art Moreira You mean For Sale?
+ShabazZiii Bam no, i mean the second part of "u", the part where there's the sound of a bottle
In clear sense or sarcastic?
+D-art Moreira Yeah I got that but you said For Free but that second song is For Sale
In the first song "U" Kendrick shows his inner struggle with being successful. This takes place after his release of GKMC after finding out that one of his best friends had just died and that he decided to go on with his tour rather than postpone and go back to LA to see his friend, to at the very least see his homeboy who was shot and in the hospital. So he feels guilty for making it out of the hood while all his friends are still in the hood dying, so after learning that his friend died he just drank himself to a rage in 'that hotel room.' He really puts his life into his music
Sergio P "I'm not your favorite rapper, I'm Marilyn Manson"
All this time… I thought it was Lucy… Lucifer that was offering Kendrick sin and temptation… he was talking about Lucian Grainge… the head of Universal Music Group… the most powerful man in music… ironically Lucifer was the angel of music… they both may was well be the same… this whole album shaped round with Lucian exposed KDOT to… Lucian offered KDOT to play in the garden of earthly delight… protection from accountability… in exchange for a 360 deal I can imagine… but I think KDOT was prayed up… turned it down… still managed resist the offer and has been recovering ever since… that kind of money…power … and endless women… is hard for any man to resist. I pray protection over this man. He on this earth for greater.
i mean it's both but yeah that's the double entendre, i jus realized that too bro
Dude same.....If you know, you know.
People complaining about this not being "danceable" are the ones Jay Z was referring to when he said, "Do you even listen to music, or do you just skim through it?"
This song follows the most danceable track on the album, "These Walls." Its purpose is to signify a massive shift in tone. After experiencing the highs of fame and the abuse of power depicted in "These Walls," the narrative transitions to Kendrick screaming in a hotel room. This shows how quickly one can fall from an artificial sense of happiness when fame and gluttony is involved.
This song represents thoughts of suicide and the road back from it. It's meant to be uncomfortable; it's meant to make you cringe, and for fucks sake it is DEFINATELY not meant for dancing.
There are people in this comment section who are alive because of this song. I hope you aren't thinking of them when you write something that tries to discredit this as music.
Perfectly said.
I don't even think it's not even this undanceable, it has a good flow to hear but it's kind of a disrespect at the same time, U is such a good song to hear, and i read it on repeat on Spotify

"They say if you scared go to Church. But remember, *he* knows the Bible too." That line gave me chills.
Nick Ogunyankin me too 😓
I read this first time hearing that line go by
Im not sure if he was talking about the devil or God ...they both know the Bible 🤷🏽♀️
@@original_USA_cowgirlhe’s referring to the devil “Lucy”. He’s saying you can’t beat him with wit alone because he also knows the playbook also representing how certain institutions will take advantage of young black people by promising you a good life but ultimately failing to provide this like an abusive relationship (everything is purely transactional without any real emotional connection). Anyone can fall for an abusive relationship even if they are educated on what an abusive relationship is. Lucy wants your soul and will go to any means to take it from you.
@@phillemon7664 Lucifer can't take your soul unless you give it to him therefore he may play tricks in order to manipulate u into willingly giving it up. However I know what he was saying and I knew who he was referring to when he said "Lucy". " Remember he knows the Bible too" can mean two things 1.) You don't need the church or a Bible to grow closer to God, therefore if you need guidance go outside look to the sky and ask for it directly from God. 2.) The devil and his workers know the bible just as much as anyone else if not better, therefore they are also within the church too.what makes you think there's popes that molest children, popes Killing baby's, pastors committing adultery etc. Why go to church if you scared when the devil's ghouls are there to take advantage of your vulnerability with manipulating u to do much more sin???

@LUCAS RUHE Kendrick is miles better artist than j Cole way better
Both are Amazing Artist. Both have made Albums that are impactful. Cole hasn't and might not make an album no where near as influential as TPAB. He did make one that, personally for me, has made an impact on a lot of listeners. Especially myself (KOD being that album). I wouldn't go as far to say Dot is miles ahead/way better than Cole. Dot is the best and Cole is second. But that margin isn't large. I don't like pinning artist against each other cause they put the work in to become the best in their generation and in the game right now.
Mank ????
When i was listening to the whole album TPAB, I cried somewhere. It was this song. The screams show how much pain is there in k's life. This video adds more angst to my sorrow throughout this song. May god give 100 years of life to this man 🛐
"AAAAAHHHHHH" (kendrick SCREAMING in TRAUMA as he sips hard liqor from the bottle which is his vice). This song fking cuts me deep to the point where it makes me bawl my eyes out. From my prospective he's explaining how hes messed-up in general in the first part of the song, and when it cuts to him sobbing he's explaining how he's going through trauma/done right by his family but they don't care about what it's turned him into, and how it damages him. Long story short some have family that lie and deceive us as innocent kids, when we grow up into adults and realize the unresolved traumas/ mental pain it causes, it turns us into monsters. Kendrick is a lyrical genius 💯

Depression is a complicated mindset.
DamienVoid44 Depression can be a really complicated mind set. Alot of ppl that are functional within depression self medicate to get through it; all the while speaking the trues of where they are to themselves.
DamienVoid44 I wouldn't call it just a 'mindset'. It's more complicated, it begins to become part of you. Sometimes you want to feel depression because for some twisted reason, you miss it. It becomes familiar. It's the same reason why alot of people who go to drug rehab and are sucessfully treated will eventually go back to a life of drugs; because the brain longs familiarity and so it decides that rather than taking a step forward it'd be much easier to take a step backwards. Mindsets are much easier to control.
This isn’t depression it’s about
How he left everyone back in Compton but still loves them even though it’s a complicated relationship now
XileBeLit It's also about 'Lucy' (the devil)

Went from being a depressed 16 year old skipping school smoking weed listening to this song to being a 22 year old up at 2:30am in my own apt on my off day drunk and it still hits the same.
This song is about not two people but one man hating on himself in a drunken depression for doing some bad decisions in his life. He is yelling at himself in a hotel room as you can tell by the "house cleaning" and this song is about regret. Pay attention to the lyrics not the jazzy beat and this song is far more depressing.

This is spiritual warfare...within yourself...a prayer...out loud..Brilliant!!!
U said what I'm going through.. thanks Divine
@@marvinferrell1333 It ain't physical it is spiritual warfare...day to day...minute by minute. Just remember you win. The marathon continues...
@@bo777fordI went to war last..

I start falling back on things that are making me see God quicker.. you feel me
This needs way more views. People scared of real nigga shit!
xNewSocietyx for real though
I like to listen to this in the gym. It reminds me why im working out, its a healthy habit that is keeping me sane. Its very tough to hold back a tear in the middle of the gym. Always stay busy and stay working on yourself. We always have the ability to offer others a better version of ourselfs. .❤
“Third surgery they couldn’t stop the bleeding for real” that part and the parts around it always give me chills
i wonder how much of his spit they had to clean up that night...?
lol
+Luche LMFAO I was trying to ignore that thought when I had it and focus on the message but it's just so funny. XD
maan, got me loling hard loud
LOL NOO
Lol
Who the fuck thought an unskippable 30 second ad with country music was a good idea
funniest shit i read all day
Joey Munson lucky me I'm not an american
😂😂 bro your comment made my day😂😂😂😂😂😂
not Stephen Paddock
People pay Google to put their ads on other People's monetized videos so they can grow and make money while they're paying Google and kendrick
this song is my life kendrick is forever the goat
life is a traffic jam - Tupac.
Amen
Im stuck then ffs
Hae
TerrorBite1 so get out and walk
Uhh no, one is poetry the other a drunken rant. JS.
This and Solace represent the absolute bottom of depression the best in my opinion. That self hate, that guilt, that pain. Amazing songs
And On Gp
@@ruf8236 That songs also great
Only The Real Know about Solace
@@ruf8236 i fucking love that one
Giles Corey and Bedwetter two, those entire projects are so fucking harrowing
Loving God is complicated, but Gods Love is Everlasting 💪🖤
I know this song is about struggles with self-love but it hits me differently when I think about my biological father. I've struggled my whole life with the fact he never loved me and that also comes with self-love issues. Today has been a hard day and this song amplifies everything...
I know how you feel.
Hold your head up.
@@profmajrit's the fucking worst feeling in the world being unsure that
Does anyone even love you?
Am I meaningless and worthless?
For Sale? - Interlude is by far the most underrated song on this album.
wings exe also For Free!
fo' sho'! it's been my favorite Kendrick song ever since i heard it's release. The intro is still kind of uncomfortable to listen to but it's made that way purposefully to set the 'being comfortable with being uncomfortable' tone (I'll stop there, now)
Shits BEEN my fav song from this album 👌🏼
Thank you, a strangely hypnotic and alluring melody. And the lyrics paired with such a dreamy sound creates such a memorable track
How Much A Dollar Cost is more underrated
This guy can act.I mean how do you behave this way sipping on apple juice.
LOL
TrashWang Shabbaz 😂😂lmfao
my life
Hi I personally thought what Kendrick was drinking was Ice Tea. This is My first time watching the video.. And I knew that wasn't poison he was drinking. Ha. ❤
Jungle Tarantino when you a real artist and have a god gift you can go crazy being so awoken.
J Cole could never create something this profound.
He lying , it's just hate
What the fck is profound about this bullsh’t? Enlighten me
Get off the gas kid....tell me .what's the song about?
I sorta kinda possibly agree with this and I love J Cole broski; Kendrick is an Intriguing alright
What the hell is profound this Goddamn black African Congo jungle noise? Says Uncle Ruckus😂 J Cole has Miss America, Love yours, Rich Niccaz… those are what I call profound, not this idiotic BS
I love how he called out the devil's antics and the people he works through to deceive them.
Loving "U" is complicated.
He's talking to himself.
wow, that just hit me deep...
I thought he was talking about God, like when he said "you came to face the world once, then u died,I say u failed"
Morgan Hill-knox He's talking to himself through the majority of it... that's the only line that can really apply to God lol
good job sherlock
I actually didn't notice that
"you called instead of a hospital visit"
facetimed bruh
@@arturospeaks that’s the part I felt the most .
Felt that bruh
The part that hurt the most is when he said that “after the third surgery he bled out, god will say you failed, you didn’t try”
Facts
“A friend never leave Compton for profit” that part hits because he truly is upset that he couldn’t help a lot of his homies who couldn’t make it out
the fact that a 7 minute song has 22mln views and is still streamed consistently to this day just shows that we necer had an ARTIST like kendrick
*When he said*
"Little brother you promised you’d watch him before they shot him"
*I felt that*
What does "i can feel your vibe and realize that your ashamed of me, yes i hate you too" mean?
@@Hooded-Tet if i’m sure i’m right i think this is him talking to the alcohol itself. he knows he shouldn’t be drinking the alcohol and he’s ashamed of it.
@@eduardont3628 i think it was when some of his close friends had died also he was a heavy drinker
isnt this an extension of the part on "sing about me"?
no it’s even worse when you hear the other lines “third surgery they couldn’t stop the bleeding”
“Then he died, god’ll say you fucking failed, you ain’t try”
In my opinion the whole 2:35-3:50 is the best part of the song, it shows the real guilty conscience. How he felt when his people died and he had felt he caused it.
