- Some say the 2017 Nissan GT-R is in desperate need of an overhaul and that it can no longer play with the fresher supercars on the market. We finally get our hands on the latest version and the hottest one available, the 600 horsepower Nismo. Capable of hitting 60 MPH in under 3 seconds, the 2017 model can still produce face ripping thrust that will put a huge stupid grin on the most serious of people.

I remember the first time I drove a GT-R. I was rolling at like 5 MPH and just "touched" the gas pedal and the car bolted forward. Its ridiculous speed literally made me lose control of my face. I have never experienced an instantaneous smile before. It was like my very soul smiled first then it showed up on my face afterwards. Anyone who likes cars definitely needs to drive this car once in their life.

Miraak Dova unfortunately times are changing and the things the old Godzilla has cannot be present in the new R35. Especially when other companies like Porsche have scary quick PDK transmissions, not even drivers mod can shift as fast as a dual clutch transmission.

Its only when you park it next to a McLaren, R8, Lambo, etc that you notice the flaws in the design.
Even that's subjective, some people don't like the typical pancake designs of the European cars. I'd prefer something with substance like the GTR, same as some people like Hummers, Jeeps and G Wagons

I have always appreciated the Nissan GTR and the history behind it, including respecting the GTR.

I have one of these 2017s although non-Nismo, it's a great car to live with everyday. I've had two GT-Rs over the past 3 years and can vouch that they're great for everyday driving. That said, I will be getting my hands on either a Porsche GT car or a McLaren soon. The GT-R is awesome but after living with one for a while it's time for something a bit more special.

I'm a huge Nissan/Infiniti fan, but I'm just not seeing it with this car.
It's $170,000 for a GTR with the NISMO package, and for that you get turbo lag, a dual clutch transmission with only 6 gears, and an instrument panel/infotainment system that looks 10 years old?
I don't get it. For the same money I could have an Audi R8 V10 or a Porsche 911 Turbo with none of the drawbacks this car has, plus more style, charisma, and racing pedigree.
Is it really any wonder Nissan didn't even sell 600 of these cars in 2017?

This car was new when Need For Speed Pro Street came out. It is OLD when it comes to supercars but still impressive as it can hold it's own against the new NSX.

i somewhat disagree with "losing track" of the wheel mounted paddles, on the track your hands are always 9-3 so there's no way to lose track of where the paddles are regardless of wheel position

GTR is too overpriced now. It's not value for the money anymore.
Commando Master agree. At the $150k-$200k range, there are many great sports cars to choose from. It's still utterly fantastic but when there's cars like the mcLaren 570s ~the same price, performance and to most better looks/more special - I think it would be hard to justify the nismo if someone is comparing similar cars without already being a big fan of the gtr.
You'd have to be an idiot to pass on a 570S if it were priced exactly the same as this GTR. Most GTRs are cheaper than the McLaren though, and for good reason, just looks alone the GTR loses miserably.
All about economics. Company see demand for this car, so it marks it up. They most likely did it so the next gen GTR will be the same price.
So some research on used McLarens. Most to all the suspension parts have to be replaced at 20,000 miles. And most likely you'll need the whole engine redone as well. These Nissan are like Rolex watches and will last a long time.
GTR loses miserably? GTR is 10 years old versus the current McLaren. It took 10 years for the Euro competition to catch up to the GTR. For that reason alone, Godzilla will always be king.
Maybe its because I'm Japanese but seeing his reaction makes me so happy haha. I've never driven one yet though! We get made fun of it a lot but cheers to Japan obsession with perfection and it paying off and making people happy.

I love the GTR, yeah the ride can be harsh, but it's a grown man car. I get compliments everywhere I go. It definitely turns heads everywhere
The GTR Nismo would be a nice car but it's just too expensive. You can completely pay off a brand new Z06 Vette, hellcat, or a shelby and still have money left.

I think it’s too pricey. You can get a 2014 GTR. Add maybe 10k or more in mods and you’ll have more HP than the 2017 model, and a lot more than certain competitors in this segment

What a car, and the tests that would impress all is how well it turns and carries speed thru them, it’s phoenomimnal and anyone comparing this to a camaro or mustang has no idea , as a gtr r35 especially nismo has supercar status, and has proven it for a decade , every manufacturer super car is always comparing to the gtr.
For the price I rather get a 2018 Lexus LC500 AND a 2018 Camaro ZL1. This thing is WAY overpriced.
