The best solution to hover flak is strat bombers. Often times players will foolishly clump their hover flak up in one place. A single strat bomb can wipe our the hover flak. Janus can work but not as well.
Boxer is my favorite aa due to the 3 speed. For UEF t2 push with com being able to rush a flack from the HQ to the com or army makes the push 10x more of a pain to deal with.
Think it would be an interesting video to see how viable floating units are in general mixed in with navy? Like zthuuees, t2 amphibious tanks, asylums can float iirc
I know you want to make this video more about a few pointers for navy players, but there are a few more things that you can talk about mobile flak. _ UED shoots 2 shots per attack. dps wise, it isn't different from Aeon or Seraphim, but due to the randomess value, the shots will be spread out. For a mobile flak with twice the amount of attack this make UED flak cover a much wide area with the cost of dealing less damage. However, a wider area means they can perform far better against fast moving air units than other mobile flak. _ The speed of the flak is also an essential feature. The speed of UED flak clearly indicates it has an edge against other flak while moving to cover for the ground force. It isn't much but this little edge is about as much as Cybran has slightly better dps.
Hover flaks and hover shields are very slow. About two times slover than navy. Can be good when you have already won navy, but bad when you need to fight against real navy player, who does some micro.
I suppose you haven't looked at performance on the move? It has been a while since I playe Supreme Commander, but if I recall correctly, the aeon flak does not have a turret, the entire unit rotates. Which means if there is air in the rear, it will hover backwards and slow down. If there is a lot of air around it may trail behind the units it is supposed to protect. Probably not that big of a deal in most fights, but a slight disadvantage of the aeon flak.
Huh, I wonder why Cybran gets more DPS? Is it because it shoots fewer shots? Might be interesting to try shielded AA vs big groups on gunships, to see how the splash works out.
The aeon and seraphim navy need hover flak because the rest of their naval units are pretty weak in comparison. Cybran have the best t2 destroyer, cruiser and annoying naval stealth fields, on top of harms creep. The UEF have neptunes, summits, atlantis & shield boats in the late game. Seraphim destroyers are the worst, and their t3 subs lose to both cybran harms/destroyers and UEF atlantis. The aeon t2 destroyer is comparable to the cybrans, but they lack harms, a good battleship, and the tempest is too expensive to win mass for mass with any naval units other than t1 subs.
I'm extremely surprised how much stronger the hover flak was against air units than the frigates and cruisers. I wonder why that is. And here I thought cruisers and frigates were good AA units for your navy. Knowing this, the fact that Cybran and UEF can't protect their navy with hover flak seems like a big weakness. I'm assuming those factions need to protect their navies with ASFs instead?
Well frigates are T1, so they're probably good compared to T1 mobile AA, but not compared to T2. Though I also thought that at least some of the cruisers were pretty good AA...
In a word: AoE Damage The reason the Hover Flak does well is because flak counters tight groups of low HP units, and T2 torpedo bombers are usually sent in tight waves as low HP units. This dramatically increases flak effective DPS, cruisers only deal single target damage and are meant to deal with T3 air. Against high HP targets the cruisers will do much better, such as Strat bombers. Compare a Percival against say, a Trebuchet firing into a mass of mech marines. The Percival has much, much, much more DPS than the Treb, but the treb will kill the LABs much faster
Hover Flak is just stupid, you can't torp it, and you really should be able to. But Aeon is just worse, as they have the hover shield too preventing you from bombing the flak. Just annoying. Shield boats exist, yes, but you can torp them at least. Oh, and Cybran T2 Flak can can shoot at ground units, no?
Artificial tests like this are entirely useless. In a real scenario, navies would be fighting in addition to whatever air is doing. And the hover AA is not only way slower than ships, but way squishier. Enemy frigates and destroyer will just pick them off at range, mostly one-shoting them, and you'll be constantly looking why you still dont have that AA you were building all game..

For Aeon you tend to see a few shield gens in the flack mix to help against those surface attacks.

Right after the little children are rescued from what's coming the next major event to happen will be a major asteroid impact. This will come with signs of light in the skies heralding its arrival 3 days in advance, described below.

This next bit comes from dreams and visions God has given us over the years. The skies turning colors is directly in reference to Matthew 24:27 where Jesus warned us that there would be a crazy light show going on right before the 2nd rapture. Jesus Himself set the course of the coming asteroid in order to wake people from their sleep. Upon impact this asteroid will cause a 12.0 earthquake, a mega flaming shockwave for many hundreds of miles, world wide mega tsunamis, will split America in two, and will even stop time for 3 days as the sun and moon will stay in their places in the sky for those 3 days, and finally will kill millions of people.
This asteroid is going to land between the island of Mona and the city of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico at 2:00am Puerto Rico time. (We know the hour, but not the date).
When you see these final signs you'll know it's beginning:
- The skies all over the entire world will turn colors like the auras
- After that the skies will turn red for 3 days as a final warning
- Then the asteroid hits
- Then the 3 days of darkness arrive where all the light on the earth is extinguished. No light from the sun or moon or stars. It will be so dark you will be blind.

We now know that we’re waiting for the children to be taken home and the skies to turn colors like the auras. When the skies start acting up, there’s 3 days left and we know the asteroid impacts at 2:00am Puerto Rico time.

Lord Jesus is about to return to the earth. With Him comes two things: (1) Glorification for His people and (2) God's Wrath for those who refuse to accept Him. Have you heard of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse? Lord Jesus is the first of those four. We all need to repent and ask Him to forgive us of our sins so that we can live.
Jesus promises us eternal life, unending joy, happiness, love, no more pain, no more hunger, no more thirst, no more heat, no more cold, and so much more all for simply siding with Him. You side with Lord Jesus by simply believing that He died in our places personally to take the death punishment that sin deserves and then resurrected by the power of God. You keep your salvation by genuinely trying to walk God's straight and narrow path of not sinning and by immediately repenting when you do accidently sin. It's all about where your heart is at. Believe and do this and you will have eternal life and nothing to fear.
Some of the things that will happen right before He returns and while He returns are:
- All of the world's children will be taken to Heaven all at once.
- World wide light show in the sky.
- 3 days of red skies as a final warning to an asteroid.
- Major asteroid impact. This is only the beginning of horrors and is a walk in the park compared to what comes afterward. If you side with Lord Jesus you simply get to escape all of this by being taken to Heaven by Lord Jesus when all hell is unleashed upon the earth for its refusal to repent and live for God.
