- Lynch is a city located in Harlan County, Kentucky. Created as a company town by US Coal and Coke Company in 1917, Lynch was once home to over 10,000 people (in the 1940's), now only 604 remain (2023). As coal mining techniques began to advance with less labor intensive methods in the 1960's and 70's, the decline of Lynch began in a severe fashion. Much of the coal production was shut down, and the town all but folded up. As of today there are few amenities nearby, jobs are scarce, and poverty is a real issue. Lynch is one of the lowest cost of living areas in The United States. There are some run down abandoned areas, however there are also some well kept and unique places to see. Let's take a drive and check it out!
I'm looking around this region of the country. No way I'm gonna be able to get out of the city that I live in until Spring minimum. But I'm getting the hell out.
Not a word spoken, but no words are needed.
That is the beauty of his videos. No music, ads, fancy graphics, no voice just the hum of the engine while the camera does the work.
There are (a d s)
and I hope people let them play to

🙂
Very nice video of an interesting place. It doesn't look completely defeated yet. There are a lot of nice homes. Beautiful hilly location!
Old World buildings, a canal and Lots of buried structures. Must have been an amazing place in its prime.
Thanks bud😎. Stay hydrated out there, it’s just scorching in Georgia today
That little Welcome Center. 😢
Beautiful town in summer.
This one is a god video, it's much closer to the homes. They are all always great. Thanks for posting them.
I remember back in 1989/90, hopping in my old 1976 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside in Central Illinois, and just took off on a nice little road trip with absolutely no destination in mind. I just headed south & let the road lead the way. I actually stopped & ate at a little diner along the main drag through town. Although it wasn't as far south as other states, they still had southern hospitality, and served up some good grub. So sad to see a pleasant little community fall to such wreck & ruin. A few of those now abandoned homes look like someone could just move right in & fix them up for practically next to nothing.
Makes me sad & wish i had money. I love a quiet little community where everyone is friendly, but minds their own business.
I love some of the houses. very beautiful buildings.
Please, we dont accept videos less than 20minutes. We LOVE your channel. What a video!! Im from Brazil. That one day God bless me to live in a woody house like that showed up at the beggining of video in blue. I WOULD LOVE TO LIVE IN THAT!! 💙😔😢
This town is like so many: some people doing OK, many people hanging on by a thread, and for some, the thread has broken
and they have vanished. I liked the one door painted a bright pinkish-purple and the one house with flowering bushes.
Hope springs eternal.
beautiful from uk granny keep posting videos
Country is decaying from within , still some fine country and people there. Spend some time in the area, have friends from harlan county. Thanks for the look around this little town.
This vlog felt like vacation time Road Tirp !!!.
My husband ( this is Judy) keeps after the weeds on our property and now I see why!
Another lovely town I wouldn't mind visiting!
I currently live 5 minutes from lynch. I grew up in near by Cumberland ky. Lynch in it's prime had over 10 thousand residents which is impressive since it's only .9 miles. 10 thousand people in less than a mile. Had the second biggest hotel in the world. At one time they wanted it to be the state capitol of Kentucky.
I'm considering WV just not sure where yet. Love the hills and color! Inexpensive living and really nice people! 3-5 yrs! ❤️
I hate seeing these towns die. But it is that way in most of Eastern Ky
Thanks!
I will be moving soon 🔜 🚪so lots of packing going on and discarding of items no longer wanted. I will be off of YT for awhile before and after getting the new place set up. Catch up with your new videos later.
Thanks so much Linda!!! I hope you are moving somewhere fun, goin to pa are ya? LOL jk! Hurry back i always love to hear from ya!
@@hoodsnhollers
I was considering PA but ... been there, done that.
Staying in OH, just a different city.
See you soon!
"Trailer Park Drive" didn't seem to have any trailers on it 🤣 Lynch really is a combination of dead buildings and lots of people still trying to eke out a living amongst the beautiful hills
What happened here? Same old story. Jobs go away, people move out, thieves, vandals and arsonists move in. Even the parts of the town still in good shape look totally devoid of people. Most of the town has sidewalks, too, but no one to use them. Saw a couple of interesting cars.
It's a pretty little town
This one is not bad. A little fixing would help it look very nice
holy moley damn .. awesome stuff thanx
My grandmother Cathy is from here...she moved to chicago but I remember coming here for the summer
Always really solid content, friend 🏚️
Дуже красиве місце
my hometown! Still trying to get out of this place . I love it but it's sure time to go .....
I was born in lynch in 1950.
Are you still there?
No i was born there grew up in Detroit.
Somebody did a California stop there at 11:04 LOL.
CGI!! :)
There appear to be a lot of homes that are kept up quite well.
The decay versus nice was really interesting in this town, beat up old industrial then tadaa, a bright sunny yellow church. I was wondering about the duplexes with different siding on each side though. This was a nice one, thank you
All of these impoverished towns seem to have at least one church in pristine condition, well maintained. They have money for that.
I think that's where my kids want me to live😊
Looks pretty nice to me.
I like to by a house
Me too!!! 😢😢
Похож на дачный поселок, мне понравился
Beautiful town
I wonder why a couple of vehicles park in a closed building.
I lived here in the 70s
Some weird ultra low speed limits. Solid yellow lines, and water plant looked vacant and non functional.
Must be depressing even for those with nice homes. Been thru many areas like this in Ky and WV
How much?
I lived in umber 1 in the eighties
Autio would have been better but still a like
😢😢😢😢😢
Cuánto valen la casa
It's called Lynch...
COAL IS NO LONGER KING !
