Here is a 4K tour of Washington Dulles International Airport, which I first got a video of back in 2012. Not a ton has changed since then, but I knew it was worth getting another tour now that I have a 4K camera. Hope you enjoy!
Just came from Dulles international airport today. It's amazing. Super clean and full of vibrant people from all over the world.
I love Washington Dulles it's my favorite Airport in the United States.

I worked at IAD for 3 years from 2005 to 2008, it's amazing how things have changed!
The main terminal never changes, because it’s architect also designed the gateway arch.

I was here in October 4 2019 waiting on flight NH1 ANA to Tokyo Narita. I remember that Five guys used to be a Terminal A where all the regional flight gates are.
And you ended the video onboard an MD-80! Perfection
I hope to see the Mobile Lounges from the outside someday when I am outdoors on the airfield.

I’ve flown out of that airport when I went to visit my brother in Tokyo Japan back in summer 2015.
After the flight back from Tokyo Narita, we rode in those cool people mover things to get to our terminal.
Btw, I live close to Washington dc in Bowie Maryland.
Sounds like Dulles has good music. LOL. But on a serious note, I fly out of this airport often and have never seen it as empty and desolate as it appears in your video. Especially the C/D concourses, which have always been bustling in my experience. Interesting.
Ya, he must have been there on a Wednesday afternoon or something. It's always hustling when I'm there.
When i was there they where playing the news instead of music ;/
Must've been in the middle of the day or mid-afternoon. With UAX flights (at least when I worked there), groups of flights would come in and go out in time slots called "banks". You had four banks a day: two in the AM and two in the PM. A group of flights come in, passengers and bags come off, aircraft are serviced, bags get loaded, passengers get loaded, flights are sent off. Then round two. Then an hour or two for lunch break with the occasional stray flight and that one from and to Toronto. Then rounds three and four. In between banks you get relatively few people hanging out at the gates until it gets close to boarding time. After my stint with UAX I worked retail. The day was usually the same. You got a flood of customers in your store in a one- or two-hour period starting around 5am, followed by a couple of hours of quiet and the occasional trickle of meandering souls, followed by another frantic rush with the line out the door, followed once again by a calm that left you either with a lunch break or desperate for something to do. KBurchfiel must've caught the airport during a lull
I had to stay overnight at this airport and when i was looking around at 3 AM there wasnt a single person there

I grew up in that airport and DFW International Airport to used to fly into it before I moved to Winchester Virginia

8:50 D26 was the gate that American Airlines Flight 77 departed from on 9/11 that sadly was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon.
Me and my son's were there about five years ago. Enroute to San Antonio from Dublin Airport, Ireland.

4:02 I used to depart out of there when flying jetBlue to Boston! jetBlue has since stopped flying in and out of Dulles.
I think I've seen them at DCA & BWI.

So few American airports actually look nice/striking. Dulles is an exception (and it was built over half a century ago to boot!). Although the interior could use a bit of a redesign, a bit more color and so on...
Are Dulles and Montreal the only 2 airports that still use the mobile lounges?

C and D gates are horrible. United’s hub product out of Dulles is lackluster and feels more like a stop in a regional airport rather than a hub for a legacy airline.

Is there a physical reason on why A and B are separate concourses and the whole building isn't just concourse A?
AIRLINES FEEL AUTHORIZED TO ASK FOR THE BADGE I BELIVE I SHOULD BE COMPLETLY ILEGAL BECAUSE THAT IS A PERSONAL ITEM WHICH SHOULD BE SECURED BY THE EMPLOYEE. EVEN IF YOU GET TERMINATED IS YOUR JOB TO RETURN IT TO PASS ID NOT THEM. THEY DONT HAVE ANY LEGAL TRAINNING TO KEEP AIRPORT BADGES FROM EMPLOYEES.
I am arriving from Canada at a Z gate and my connecting flight is out of a C gate. I have a 5 hour layover, is it possible to go to B gates to get Five Guys?

The concourses behind the good looking main terminal are not designed by the same guy. Dulles airports was deigned to have the unusual busses literally be gates on wheels.

Yep it is a very big airport. Kind of on the large/medium side. Dulles is bigger than BWI and national. Ther are already direct plans put in place for even more gates and another runway.
