These lessons are fantastic. I've been studying the half ball hit very carefully thanks to you. Keep up the great work!

I've been studying pool for 20 years and this is cool. I knew about 1 and 2 and use them in play regularly, #3 was new to me but the physics make sense based on transfer of energy excluding spin, of course, but #4 frankly blew my mind. That is just amazing. THUS, A GREAT BIG THANK YOU is in order.

i think that is THE best piece of information that u could give me and anyone else that has ever suffered "scratch-idous". now we know why. truly priceless thank u

    Takeaways:
The 8ball shot at the end of the game I just know is going to scratch if I take it ISNT just a gut feeling. The gut feeling is made of memories of it happening before and pure physics that my subconscious knows but conscious brain hasn't done the equations for. This video proves that some fears are based on lack of information or success. I'm not fearless but I am equiped with the info to make or not take shots I couldn't articulate before. Well done!

Thanks for that lesson! This is very useful information. Will be playing around with those thoughts when I get home to the pool table. Very interesting!

I saw your mid-table half ball hit where you repeatedly and purposely scratched the cue ball into the corner, having shot the cue ball from the first diamond on the short rail. I thought, well yeah, but he is an instructor and an excellent teacher. Well, here is the news, feedback; today on a regulation size table I tried it and made the shot time after time. Incredible! I cannot wait until that opportunity presents itself in my league play, especially in a nine ball or ten ball game. Unbelievable! Thanks so much for that shot. I'm not exactly a newbie to the game; at 72 I wish I had known about the half ball hit about 50 years ago, but as they say, better late than never. :)

John Payne Dear Mr Payne, I am very new at pool. I'm on an APA league and my skill level is a 2. I don't understand why you want to sink the cue ball? I know I'm being a little on the dumb side, but could you explain it to me?

All very well, with the exception of you calling yourself a "mediocre player" - who are you trying to fool? ;^)
    Nice video and explanation, thanks!

Please don't fool people that half ball caroom angle is constant.
In half ball hit speed of the cueball is greatly deciding the caroom angle.
Also in medium to fast speeds the trajectory is an arc not a straight line. Which means the longer cueball travels on the arc the more angle will decrease.

This is what you sort out in practice before you play a match on a table. You are correct about the size of the arc. You identify the speed that will make this sweet.
