I was based in Brunei as a British soldier in the 2000s, I loved going to Singapore and enjoyed the people and places immensely. Big Up to you guys!✊🏻 Keep it real and above all keep it professional! I chatted to a few young people serving their National Service back 2017 coming back from Kranji on the bus, good on you LIONS & LIONESSES!🦁

Good to see they have kept the British Drill Manual and use it well. Well done all on parade, very smart.

Most if not all countries that were part of the empire still carry out the drill as per the British.

because singapore, malaysia, brunei and myanmar are former british empire colonies of south east asia. that why they still used british traditions in their marching.

Singapore Armed Forces. These are National Servicemen which serve for two years. Most of their officers and non-commissioned officers are also two year conscripts. Without a core of regular service officers and ncos, it is very hard to pass on any practical experience to these national servicemen. When I did my national service, my ncos were only one batch in front of me (3 months) and couldn't teach us anything except yell at us and buggerise us. Soldiering is still not seen as a respected profession in Singapore. The weapons and equipment we have are excellent. The problem is the practical experience.

Be proud you did it, and no winging please, When I was 18 I fought in the Jungle North of Singapore, in places like Ipoh and Gemas, happy days really, but wet and hard work.

A high ranking US Army officer (probably with combat experience) saw our SAF on field exercises and said our integrated attack was well oiled. As good as the US' which is very hard to achieve. I can rest easy at night.

      Singapore has four languages:
      1. Malay (national & official language)
      2. English (official & working language)
      3. Mandarin (official language)
      4. Tamil (official language)
