How is it possible for the singer to be so clearly heard without a mic? Absolutely beautiful performance.
Tuba Skinny is about as much fun you can have with your clothes on
I don't care how long ago this video came out
I've loved Tuba Skinny since the first one
Have this on every TV channel on this planet for at least an hour a day and the world will become a much better place.
100 💯
indeed
My dad agrees!❤
Erica Lewis. That's my baby now!
I am from Australia and due to this terrible Virus I am at home surfing U tube, and came upon this great music which brings back memories well done to all of you I hope you are all at it still , Erica has a great Voice
I couldn’t dance until I heard Tuba Skinny.
Saw them live in NOLA a couple months ago. Loved it!!!
It never ceases to amaze me how so many people are wrapped in the daily little messes they call their lives how they walk on by completely oblivious to this music. Also, even though I am 85, I am still in good health and so I hereby ask Shaye Cohn to marry me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing. And the best washboard on the planet!
Erica is the best, without an mike aganst a whole band! Chapeau!
OZ guy here. thank you for giving us music. God Bless America
When I was a kid in Ohio, 83 years ago now, my granddaddy would slip away to New Orleans and then New York, he had a shop out back where he did repairs on all sorts of things and an old record player, vinyl of course and he'd have music playing. . .King Oliver and Louis Armstrong were favorites before Louis became popular outside of NO. I was learning to play piano and I listened to those jazz piano players and learned how to play "rhythm" piano. . .Armstrong's wife was great. TS takes me back in my late years to my childhood and I love it.
Good musicians just standing up and letting go outside is the real thing no mics or electronics in sight. Wish I could go to NO and sit and listen. . .well, maybe my next life. JIM M.
"... before Louis became popular outside of NO..." conflicts with "...he'd have music playing. . .King Oliver and Louis Armstrong "
Amazing street band. No mics. Just playing their hearts out.
I can't help but wish that electricity was banned from street performance, or at least taped backing. Acoustic instruments sound best au naturel. Even at most so-called "acoustic open-mic nights" nowadays, there's a mic (hence the naming i suppose) and a PA and if your guitar hasn't got a pickup, you're stuffed. Is it because so few people in this day and age simply don't know how to shut the f*** up and listen? This lot have got brass, woodwind banjo and percussion players who give it some welly and a singer who can project so they're sitting prettier than most but it should always be properly acoustic in my book.
Just damned amazing how people can walk by when these guys are playing!
I watch blank face people walk by and not turn their heads.
How can there be such emotionless people.
This band is so joyful and I would love to be there.
GM
When this lockdown is over I wanna go to New Orleans and follow this band around.
@Carl FerrignoCarl so is this band " steaming hot"
Just right on the money. Proper wonderful!
OK Losing it - seems there will be plane loads coming with you from Europe & all around the world
So do... but I may be too old and not fit enough so this shall have to suffice.
i wanna kiss the singer
These guys & Gals are simply incredible Musicians, coupled with the rag time tones of Erica its a veritable time machine back to the old days of Jazz, True musicians no mixing , no electronic Gizzmos, Just Raw Talent in its purest Form. Thanks Guys you Just brightened up a Cold wet Novemeber Day here in UK.
They sound like I just put a 78rpm on the Victorola. Amazing!!
Message from Ireland absolutely gorgeous am singing along definitely not in 1st flush of youth but these guys are well done
My Dad use to him this song and I did the shuffle, I was like 8-10 at the time, cracked everybody up. My grandPa loved it. 🤠🇵🇭🇺🇲

This is absolutely one of your
best numbers. If anyone doesn’t feel this music they better check for a heart beat. I love Tuba Skinny!
I was born on the Cane River….. I heard this and I started to cry 😢… I was adopted and raised in nyc… but this song hit deep in my soul, I wish I had the ability to visit my birth town😢
I'm from Russia. I really love Dixieland. I was looking. I found Tuba Skinny! Perfectly! Thank you.
salam
I just found them recently myself and love their music
This is one of those tunes where the washboard truly shines!...
when human try to stay alive not by holding the present moment but rather retrieve the beautiful memory.
I'm 13.8 billion yrs old and this is the best.... Where am I again....???
Folks watching know this band is special.
I can't stop listening to this band
That girl's voice is straight out of the 1920s/30s. Fantastic ragtime band!
Billie Holiday
2021,eh ? The world needs more of this , right now 💕✌️
I play jazz clarinet and have been around music all my life - I am 56- this is the best Jazz I have ever heard ..... Bar none.
Can't help but bring a smile to your face. She's a classic and the guy on washboard is indestructible. They're all great musicians.
Tuba skinny is a joke. A wonderful, non-stop, delightful joke that keeps you grinning from ear to ear. Keeping a band together is a miracle, and one this good is a gift to humanity.
How can so many walk by without giving a donation. These musicians are incredible as well as the lady singing. True talent one and all.❤
Best I've heard for many years. Didn't know that bands of this quality are still around. I'm 73 years old and have been a jazzed since a wee lad. This lot have it all.

You know it's good when feet are tapping and bystanders are boogieing.
Erikca's vocals are in thee pocket! Such a great feel.
My father sang this song to me over 65 years ago , he's been gone a long time ago , but I still remember this song thanks
Erika Lewis, Man, that chick's got some pipes! No mic!
She PROJECTS ! Wow.... And clarinet guy is ridiculous! ✌🏻🇺🇸
That was actually a soprano saxophone. Very similar in shape and size of course.
George B blow America great again!
And her phrasing and accent. I listen to all the Tuba Skinny songs to try to understand.
@@mattbartley2843 In fact, this really is a clarinet with a metal body instead of the regular wooden one. Although still available sporadically nowadays, the better quality instruments were fashionable mainly in the thirties and forties.
i could sit and listen to this band and that sweet lovely birdy for hours on a warm sunny day.
Erika is the hit👍👍👍👌
My prayers go out for the people of New Orleans Louisiana Mississippi and Alabama that's where my mama and papa live I pray for the whole world I'm Tristan I'm 8 years old

Без фанеры, без микрофонов, живьем! Профессионально, от души и для души! Респект и спасибо!!!👍😊
Это Эрика Кузнецова.
"You shout so loud you draw a crowd" Love this.
I never cared much for this song until now. Nice job!
I was today years old when I realized I love sloppy swing jazz! Robin kills it on the wash board and Erika sings beautifully. Shaye is just epic on the coronet and the rest of the gang are is just perfect! Food for my soul. Thank you
Why do I like this I don't like jazz, Erica is a such a great singer I keep coming back for more
Which proves that you do "like" Jazz. You've just not been exposed to enough of the good stuff before.
Jazz underwent a major split in the mid 1940s known as the bebop revolution. Most of the jazz you hear these days is post-bebop jazz. Here you see traditional jazz, which is pre-bebop. So there is traditional jazz, swing jazz, and gypsy jazz that all belong to the the pre-bebop styles I'm sure you'll like them all. This is jazz back when jazz was popular music.
That trumpet girl....love her
Wow it has that 1920's sound. Awesome stuff....
Best I’ve heard in my 92 and bit years, well done guys n girls and thank you so much.
i hope youre doing well sir, God bless you
Helping keep me sane during the lockdown here in South Africa. Brings back so many memories of Sunday Nights in late 50s early 60s before leaving to wander .
Yes sir that´s my band !!!!!!
Erika, the hit👍👍👍👍
I love that girl singing!
As good as ever;New Orleans should be grateful that such JAZZ bands still exist and continue to perpetrate this wonderful art form!
perpetuate is what you mean?
"Perpetuate"
Oh how I wish we had this band l on the streets of UK. They are excellent and very uplifting.
Im feeling back in the 60th with Chris Barber and Papa Bues just better. Perfect Sound and Interpretation . Great thanks to Tuba Skinny. I lobe it ...
The band was amazing. That woman really had some pipes to sing that out and project it so loudly to the crowd.
Filling up the whole street over top a brass band!

I can really appreciate how the Cornet leads the band...it shows to great advantage in the 20 Tuba Skinny videos I have watched this week...Shay is phenomenal player...
Erika's got some awesome Fulani earrings!
How on earth can anyone just walk past this????!!!
I love this group, especially watching the foot action.
Yes Sir That's A Sensational Band and Yes Ma'am That's Great Singing
Washboard guys is fabulous.
Oh my goodness how wonderful, toe tapping. I am 69 years young when I was little about 7 or 8 and my sister was 2 years younger our dad bought a player piano and took it all apart and recut and glued the bellows, tuned it up. Oh such fun we had. We had a piano roll of this song, brought back such sweet memories, mom was also a ver good singer.
Love listening to your playing and singing.
Had me tears hearing this old time music - thank you!
Washboard :' ) Just AMAZING.
Man he is great on the board. Don't hear this anymore.
Good at music, yes, but he hasn't figured out how to do laundry on it yet.
@@rotunda57 lol doing the laundry that's his moms duty 🤣
Memories are awakend, I visited this wonderful town many years ago as a young man.
Verdens bedste nulevende New Orleans band, so very good!!! thanks from Danmark

It is almost 2021 still the best Tuba skinny joyfully played for sharing joy music thank you & camera person too keep smiling with lol politely & safely merry Christmas with Tuba skinny
Each has their own specialty. Add them together and you have gallons of feel good!
of course, Shaye Cohn is the glue here...as critical to the commercial success as Ericka Lewis might be, this is Shaye Cohn's band and she has created a genuine gem
Respectfully sir, each musician is good and would be an asset to any band but together. Together that band is outstanding. Everyone there is a key component. Just my opinion.
Thank you for the "Music"I'm from Russia.
Great Erika and all of them
I like Tuba Skinny
From Surf City, El Salvador
Damn ... this makes me feel alive ...
how is it that there arent hundreds of people listening to this wonderful, magical band. no other dixieland band even comes close. tuba skinny has it all.
You are mistaken in your first sentence. Then you are mistaken in your second sentence.
the voice on her wow!!!!!!
One word -PERFECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
She's an absolutely amazing singer. Projects her voice with no mics or anything.
Nick Rapczynski Once upon a time, she would have been called a shouter. The same way to project as opera singers.
That's not all she projects. Whew! Is it getting hot in here or what?
@@DanielCPurdy Also called "belters". Ethel Merman for example.
Tu dała pokaz swoich możliwości. Franek Sinatra może się schować. Szkoda,że jej komercyjne piosenki jakieś smętne.
Wielki talent stracony? Oby nie!
Yes sir she’s my baby!
Could listen to this band for days
THANK U FOR BRINGING BACK THE PAST
Clarinet along w Shay on Coronet is masterful!
I love Erica Lewis. In my everyday life, constantly all day all I hear in me head is her singing.
