    I love these play throughs. I'm at the stage where I use most of the rules, but still find myself referring to the manual to check up on the detail. Of all my board games, ASL has by far got the most use and provided the most enjoyment! Thanks for taking the time to film these :)

    For Area acq, you can use the large Acq counters.

    Common error: do not confuse "area fire" with "area target type". With Area Target Type you exhaust your ROF firing at the whole hex. Also remember that mortars are the exception and can maintain rof when firing smoke :)

      I *think* area target type is vs a whole hex, and the FP is halved if it hits. Area fire is vs concealed or HIP units. An Area Tarfet Type Fire attack that hits has the full FP.

      Area Fire by infantry is always halved FP, as is long range fire by Infantry. A 7.23
      Mortar fire is considered many tubes firing at one hex(Area Target Type) which always halves its IFT firepower since it's considered inaccurate and can hit non-hidden out of LOS targets only if it also hits the largest net TH DRM for that target as well. C 3.33

      On board area target type by a single mortar ought not be confused with OBA.

    You videos are awesome! Just a question on the smoke..didn't the gusty marker say that smoke was dispersed? Pardon my ignorance as I don't know ASL at all....just watching to learn about the system.

      It's quite possible I misplayed this. I'm going from memory but I believe gusts only affect smoke that is already on the board.

    Another thing, you need to setup your Reinforcements at the start of the RPh, and they all need to be on their own hexes and so on (i.e. no overstacking).

    Shooting the AT gun at the Pillbox, be sure to check out B30.35 for some nice options.

      Yes, AT with AP, APCR with TK# at least double the TEM of Pillbox will ignore the TEMs effects. Hence ATG scores a hit and resolves per HE equivalent. To put it another way the pillboxes are sitting ducks to the ATG...

    Thanks for the video, Mike, it's interesting to see some new stuff you haven't covered before - do you plan on playing a scenario involving Armoured units at some point?
    Also, I was wondering whether you've decided on having Counter Attack become a dedicated ASL channel or whether you're planning on playing through other games as well?

      Hi Omer. I do plan on learning about vehicles in my next ASL scenario playthrough. As to being a dedicated ASL channel - no. That's just what I want to be learning right now, and seems to get the most interest from my viewers. I will likely do something non-ASL next - I'm still trying to decide what that is. I need to figure out some way for people to vote :)

      I'm actually happy to hear that, there's a ton of ASL content out there and watching you play other (lesser known or less "popular") systems is what I enjoy most about this channel.
      As for the voting, you could always borrow a page from "Watch It Played" and use the comments section - maybe film a short clip where you lay out the different games that you're considering and have the viewers tell you which one they like to see the most (by writing the name of their choice or upvoting it in the comments) - whichever game gets the most upvotes by a certain time is the winner.
      There are other ways, of course, but this looks to be the easiest.

      So apparently there's now an easy way to add polls directly to CZcams videos as well - you can find videos on just how it's done with a quick search, and it seems to be a breeze. I don't know whether I should link one directly (I suppose it might violate some sort of rule I'm unaware of) so I'll just say that if you search in CZcams for "How To Add A Poll To Your CZcams Video" you'll find what you need.

    I set my sniper next to enemy snipers to try and take it out of the game. So as the Canadian I would of set the sniper up in L5. Also Canadian squad Q could of used road movement and gained more movement for the future.

      That's illegal unless the 6 stacks, 5 stacks etc. rule comes into play....

    Just a small correction, the stacking capacity of a pillbox(as indicated on the counter) is not 1 MMC, it's 1 squad equivalent...= (1) squad, or (2) 1/2 squads, or

    Your Sniper must be setup with 6 hexes of 6 stacks so you should have set up your sniper in N5
    A Gust eliminates all dispersed SMOKE and disperses all non-dispersed SMOKE
    Canister, MG, IFE and Small Arms fire vs a pillbox, as well as WP NMC vs pillbox
    occupants, are NA through its NCA.

      Thanks for your corrections. Regarding gusts, I'm not sure what I played incorrectly. The AT gun and mortar normally lay SMOKE, but since there are gusts blowing, I reduced it to dispersed SMOKE. Was that incorrect? Thanks again.

    Don't think the German sniper placement was legal. Reinforcements have to be set up offboard in the rally phase of the turn on which they will enter the board.

      The guys in the grey pillbox were.Not concealed so the blue PTC would apply.

      Leadership doesn't affect repair attempts - that's what the triangle symbol means.

      You could have saved yourself a lot of time by reading the part that says small arms and my fire is not allowed at a pillbox outside its covered arc.

      Ha ha yes, but they do have a flaw: the fixed covered arc / field of view.

      Especially not against tanks that can destroy the contents with AP.
