Very cool audio at the Gandalf reveal - the reason you couldn't tell if it was him at first was because they played Saruman (Christopher Lee) and Gandalf (Ian McKellen) saying the same lines at the same time, starting stronger with Saruman, but fading him out and fading in Gandalf. The little things like that are part of what make these movies so damn good.

According to Tolkien, Elves could even dream while moving about, "blending living night & deep dream." When Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas are running across the Plains of Rohan pursuing the orcs who captured Merry and Pippin, Legolas never sleeps, and even stands watch while his wiped out Dwarf & Human companions
That & out of the entire journey Legolas was both Stoic and ethereal but the one whose heart remained the lightest and kept the fellowship afloat in so many ways ❤. So it was weird how the film gave it all to Gimli! 😂❤️

Not all of it went to Gimli. I felt the Lightness and truth of Legolas as well. But I didn't remember all of this, what you've shared here, this is so neat about the elves. So intriguing. just love the lore and fantasy so much.
I did read the Trilogy years ago when I saw the first movie, but I didn't capture or remember all of the lore that I know is there. This is a deep trilogy read. I've been wanting to read these again, thanks.

Speaking of the Balrog battle. It lasted ten days and ten nights. That and the blade you seen falling with him was elven high king Turgon. Epic stuff that means a lot when you are in the know. The Balrog is the same species as Gandalf. He was fighting a divine brother as it were. So it’s even more touching and deep stuff than what I’m even saying here in such a limited fashion.

The simple things can hold great meaning overlooked by learned men, and even the wisest of us cannot create a blade of grass. It is in the spaces between the words, the quiet places of just breathing that wisdom lives. I believe this is why Tolkien loved the Hobbits so much and had such respect for them. The part about the dead marshes includes Legolas’s Father; Thranduil, & Thranduil’s father Oropher, were to join the Last Alliance in from a different angle to achieve a certain war tactic but Oropher and others got waylayed by orcs & many corrupted men which lead to eventually Oropher dying there, this loss effected Legolas’s father so very deeply forevermore. The bond between he and his son is the same bond Thranduil has with Legolas. And the braid he wears is to honour his grandfather. I believe after his death braids became less common. A sort of respect thing I believe. Both his father and Grandfather lived in Doriath(Elu Thingol’s domain[Elwë], which was heartbea of middle earth; Aside from Gondolin which held this mantle until it’s secret location was given up by a tortured elf who was the son of a very important mother who was the sister of the high king Turgon). All on a landmass called Beleriand that sunk under the sea after a set of disastrous events that lead to many greater outcomes much later on in the legendarium. This here is a whole set of stories of which also includes a quite a bit of Galadriel too but moreso other characters during this era. Of Beren And Lùthien comes to mind and Children Of Hurin!! You’ll fall in love even more after the third movie. Then you can enter into the lore videos like Moviejoob and OmarioRPG have done reaction videos too. Amazing stuff.
One thing to add though is this scene resembles a lot from the battle Tolkien(The Author) was involved in called The Battle Of Somme. Look into it and tell me your thoughts. The man is a legend in MANY ways

To answer your ring question without spoiling anything since it’s nowhere in the movies at all: Aragorns ring(there is a few shots during the movie where you see a good look on it being worn but also in that book that has the drawing & history of that ring Saruman spoke about after Grima brought it up to him(Saruman) once belonged to Galadriel’s dearest elder brother Finrod, Named Felagund by the dwarves he befriended, they gifted him one of their fortresses of Nargothrond and he even built it with them). He was the most famous Elf in the Legendarium aside from his uncle Fingolfin! It ended up being given to Barahir’s ancestors & Barahir is closest relative to Aragorn through the line of Arathorn! And they connect directly to the house of Bëor. Which all three houses of the Edain were found & befriended by Finrod. First to discover Men before anyone else !! Not even the Valar save Melkor long LONG ago. They’ve been aware of him for a very long time & have been fighting him almost as long as the elves did but with no help during those darker times before the sun and moon were even born into the world after melkor and Ungoliant killed the two trees of silver and gold in Valinor.
By the time the Gondorians lost Eärnur the Anorian line of Elendil got their cheeks clapped so hard they were reduced to a lesser tribe who had lost a shit ton of status and a lot of symbols of their power like the Ring of Barahir or Narsil. The Gondorian Stewards, especially those like Denethor, looked down on their northern brethren as pretenders and foreigners.
Aragorn not only had served in Gondor's army for a time but was chosen to carry on many of the ancient symbols of the line of Elendil like Barahir and reforging Narsil into Andúril. Throw in a fancy banner made by his elf GF and he had the symbols and treasures of a king. Denethor lighting himself on fire also contributed along with Faramir willingly surrendering his authority to Aragorn helped.
An heirloom of the Ñoldor/ Vanyar(Galadriel and Finrod’s kin) But as I said, it's got SO much value. Makes me want to say something similar to what Gandalf said about the mithril vest that was more valuable than the shire itself. Hahaa And so ofc Aragorn for many reasons knows the history of that very ring he wears. I believe as it belonged to Galadriel’s brother, either she gave it to him or it made it down the line directly from Aragorn’s mighty ancestry.

The trio ran in 4 days the width of Rohan, 135 miles. Eating little, resting little. They are basically the representatives of the most enduring races in Middle-Earth: Gimli, a dwarf, probably most suited for long stretches of hardships (hardly a natural sprinter, though?), Legolas, an elf, lightfooted and resilient and Aragorn of the Dunedain, in his prime. Whether Boromir, a great warrior, or the hobbits had made it also or at all - please comment, I'm no marathon runner.

Gandalf is the same species of being as the Balrogs/Sauron before twisted by Melkor[Morgoth]. They are all Maiar (primordial spirits). Gandalf named Olórin created by Eru’s Thought (extensions of Eru Îlluvatar himself whilst they had their own free will & individuality. He essentially got the chance to experience and study other parts of himself through this.) among the other Ainur before the Years of the Lamps roughly 9,000+ years before arriving in Middle-earth; In Valinor he was known as Olórin.(Remember though he formally existed before the world existed and his form becoming Gandalf hadn’t happened yet. He was sent to Middle-earth in human form around the year 1000 of the Third Age. So his many forms had different ages in length of existing. He’s very cool right! Could he get any cooler!? 😎❤️ Another thing is when he arrived in middle earth he was disguised as an elf & lived among them whilst they were unknowing & he became to be known as Mithrandir to the Quendi/Eldar❤️ He could have very well dwelled with the elves far earlier just do to his curiosity & simple desire to explore and be around the firstborn (TheElves)
    Gandalf The Grey/White
Estimated at 15,000 years old (following his quote "300 lives of men, I have walked this earth"), It says that Gandalf was the wisest of the Maiar besides Melian herself. There were a lot of Maiar that were considered really great and powerful.
However, there is a much longer answer. Like Sauron(former name is Mairon) & the other Istari (the order sent around the same time & of which he was appointed leader but he being who he is & a student of the Vala by the name Nienna & Lorien(Irmo). Gandalf was a Maiar, an angelic spirit created by Eru at the beginning of time and therefor one of the many Ainur who sang the world into being & Eru just helped their creation take shape and basically stated “behold YOUR creation” & basically what happens in that world goes sort of preordained as by that song eons ago so really only the ages after Dagor Dagorath will truly be an age that isn’t full of strife and sadness and longing.
Also. These lamps are what were before even the two trees. These were Giant mountains but also like light houses but housing a great power but it may have also been where two special Maia lived that helped in the creation in the sun and moon after Melkor With eldrich terror Ungoliant killed the trees, so yea Arien is the Maia who basically exists with the sun and her brother and or lover of sorts is the one who wanders with and guides the moon. (That other Maia’s name is Tillion)
May this help make sense of the movies ahead. Including Peter Jackson’s new films coming soon as well as War Of The Rohirrim

The "dragon" the Black Rider is on is described in the book as more similar to a vulture: "...it was a winged creature: if bird, then greater than all other birds, and it was naked, and neither quill nor feather did it bear, and its vast pinions were as webs of hide between horned fingers, and it stank...And the Dark Lord took it, and nursed it with fell meats, until it grew beyond the measure of all other things that fly, and he gave it to his servant to be his steed." LOTR doesn't have dragons, but watch the Hobbit movies or read the book, and you'll meet a truly terrifying dragon named Smaug.

Great reaction guys! Just some lore FYI:
Though their ancestors were trees, awoken by The Elves, The Ents, of which Treebeard is but one, are now a separate race. Thye tend the forest as, as Merry says, "Treeherders" or "Shepherds of the Forest." In the book there are also trees that can move known as Huorns.
The winged creatures The Nazgul is riding is not a Dragon. Though not properly named by J R R Tolkien in the book, they are referred to as "Fell Beasts," a generic term for the miscellaneous evil creatures encountered in Middle Earth. If you want to see a proper Dragon you'll have to watch the prequel trilogy, The Hobbit.

Not all forests are old, no. In fact, there are huge and disastrous ecological consequences cutting down forests that are thousands of years old and replacing them with small forests that grow for ~20-100 years and then cutting them back down. It can take thousands of years for a forest to fully climax, and tons of species are lost in the process humans have been at for all of recorded history now. It is said that a squirrel could once jump across all of Europe or all of the US from tree to tree without ever touching the ground.

But the Uruks from Isengard are loyal to Saruman unlike the orcs and Uruks from Mordor, who are obviously loyal to Sauron. Also, there are a lot of different tribes and breeds of orc, and if they would speak their own dialects, they couldn't understand each other. For communication, they use the Black Speech.
