- The Adeptus Astartes, Transhuman soldiers that were designed and created to fight for humanity, Tall, bulky and better in every way to a normal human. Here in this video we will assess the differences of three notable types of Astartes. The Firstborn or the Original space marines, the Primaris space marines and the chaos space marines. We will begin with each of their origins, then each of their size and then go on to the gene seeds and their weaponry.
Enjoy watching. Cheers!

Attention, not everyone has a "jumpjet", but a backpack. Backpack is the main power supply/life support system for an Astartes. "Jumpjet", correctly Jump pack has only a few of them (for expample Assault marines).
i came down here to say the same thing. the comment at 10:15 is incorrect. the things pictured are exhaust ports for their armour power packs. it's basically a high tech permenantly running (while the armour is worn) diesel engine strapped to their backs.
Then where do they keep their packed lunch pencil case and books on proper chapter etiquette?
Was going to say the same thing, it's a power generator not a jump pack!
@@ursinecanine9657 Their armor does all of it.
Most of these trash bait videos just steal wholesale from the Wikipedia, and they then still get it wrong. Embarassing
big difference between loyalist and chaos armors is that the chaos plating is studded layered instead of a single cast
while it requires more maintenance it is a better defense against enemy bolterfire unless it hits a stud directly in wich case its the same defense as loyalist solid plate
while it originally started as a necessity because of resource scarcity during the crusades, the layer composition was refined over the millennia so that ablative shedding was able to survive more bolterfire then a solid plate could hope to survive without internal damage especially against spalling or heat transfer designed ammo
Don't forget the spikes. It ain't chaos armour if ain't got spikes
It's possible that the Emperor intended to create more improved and stable versions of the space marines, once he had managed to complete the great crusade. Similar to how he replaced the thunder warriors after the conquest of Terra.
Cawl was given complete access to the Emperor's gene labs, and he also mind melded with Ezekiel Sedayne. One of the key scientists involved in the development of the Astartes. Using his memories, he might've discovered files that contained unfinished blueprints for the next breed of super soldiers. Which he would've use as the basis for the development of the Primaris project.
Further more, Cawl saw a memory where the Emperor told Ezekiel that he must continue His work. That one day he would think he is betraying the Emperor, but must nonetheless persevere. Cawl perceived that the Emperor was communicating with him through Ezekiel.
@James Williams He oversimplified that bit. Basically Sedayne tried to get Cawl's body and knowledge by tricking him into merging their brains/consciousnesses but Cawl's personality was more dominant and so overpowered Sedaynes. Also, Cawl is an Archmagos (very high ranking) and so would be able to get into the Emperors gene labs, which are probably still in pristine condition considering its the Emperors.
And remember, in Warhammer things being insane is the point.
@James Williams I think you’re triggered. Read the great work. If you think this was crazy read the outcast dead. A thunder warrior reverse engineer the emperors work in a crack house.
There is a lab section in the palace where the OG astartes creator resides to this day in stasis. But she is there beccouse of the terminus decree. She created a virus in order to kill all astartes.
The Primaris project is what is left over from the primarchs project. Primaris Marines are demi-primarchs, being much closer than the Firstborn.
@@marqs2065 a virus worse than the virus bombs?
The origin of primaris marines is games workshop wanting to make models with a more natural scale. I don't mind them. But it was a weird trick to sell more models, at least at first
Even with Chaos there are 2 flavors, Legionaires and Renegades
The chapters that went so long without organs working and now with primaris they do work must be a culture shock.
That's why they're not liked in all legions.
One question: When a firstborn receives the Rubicon Primaris surgery do they increase in mass and height or stay the same but with increased strength? (I'm new to Warhammer 40k so I don't know)
The Thunder Warriors were prototypes of what would later become the Adeptus Astares or Space Marines and were involved in the Unification Wars when the Emperor was reuniting Holy Terra sometime during the 28th to 30th millennium. In addition the Thunder Warriors used Mk1 Thunder Power Armor. Which according to the Inquisition, the Eclesiarchy and the Space Marines to be one of the most holy relics that anybody can find.
The world eaters went to put down a thunder warrior insurrection and the thunder warriors were taking down 3 or 4 astartes for every one of them killed. That individual group was putting in custode level work even if they would have been wrecked by the custodes.
several things in the video are not correct or weren't fully researched but it was enjoyable.
Fun fact: The "firstborn" from the video thumbnail was intended to be a primaris marine.
Love your channel .
The ending got me to sub. You stay AWESOME
I love the pictures you use :)
More of these videos, please. A few of your smaller creators have upped your game so much and the older creators who have a large following ultimately aren’t as hungry anymore….. I’m not trying to hate on anyone but your channel is amazing. Please we need more of these so I can teach my little Primark’s about the Warhammer universe without my wife divorcing me because I’m training little serial killers 😂
Yeah, the backpack has vents for the nuclear reactor that powers the power armor. Jump packs are relatively huge and squarish
"in one of the few times that proved to be a dark moment for him" bruh literally every moment is a dark moment for him thats the whole point
The Emperor did the Thunder Warriors dirty . I have to wonder about Fabulous Bikes Numen from what little I know they would wipe the floor with most of super human soldiers .Their one of those subjects I'm dying to learn more about.
Just pointing one thing, Chaos Astartes still uses Power Armour Mark 3 and 4 of the Horus Heresy era, FirstBorn and Primaris uses new Mark 9 and 10 Power Armours, must remember that Chaos Marines stopped in timeline of Power Armour upgrades, so, they dont use the same Armour
Wrong most first boen use mk 7 mk8 is used by some high rank
Mk9 has never been mentioned in lore
10 is a primaris only armor
More specificly mk 8 is the errant armor which is worn by veterans and sargants pf the first born it was only put into limited production by the mechanicum by time the undominus campaign began so they never bothered making it standard as the mechanicus are more focused on mk10 and the primaris atm in lore Than to bother making much erant armor to equip the chapters like they originaly planed to
You guys forgot about the fact that chaos space marines salvage whatever they can, so there is no clear definition on what version they use, it could be whatever they have available, which is then, over time, corrupted by the chaos gods to represent the specific gods image and power up the chaos marine.
@@swishsplashUnless you're an iron warrior
Love the videos, started with the size comparisons and now this! Hopefully you are blessed with growth in your journey
I wonder if any of the surviving loyalist primarchs knew about the primaris before they disappeared.
Nice video.
not to nit pick, but you say numerous times there was 20 primarchs.... there was 21.Everyone forgets about Omegon.
The difference in high is not that drastic, the new HH models are only slightly smaller then a normal
Primaris. A lot of the comparisons in height are from the old model perspective. Some firstborn are probably just as tall as primaris IE salamanders and alpha legion
The way that lore-wise the Primars have been integrated to the Adeptus Astartes overall was half-assed and farfetched at best.. As far as I understand, those who were actually sleeping for the past 10k years were either transferred as reinforcements to their parent-chapters to augment them along with the infrastructure and materials for further development, or formed into all-Primaris chapters.
The main issue here is that not only those who are entering the ranks as newly created Astartes for the less-divergent chapters, are no longer required to even progress through various reserve companies of the codex-compliant chapters, but more importantly, if they are indeed so neuro-biologically advanced and expertly trained to fulfill various combat roles "right out of the box", then how come the Imperium has seemingly limitless resources to just keep printing them, training and arming them with all this high-end wargear to keep up with their demand as it does?
We know G.W. wants to sell their range, but the suspension of disbelief required to stomach that is really too much for me
HERESY ! But yeah spot on
IOM had the resources to produce primaris. He did not want to do it, coz of cursed foundation and Mars inner wars. But cawl got approved by Emperor and has own Religious cult in adeptus mechanicus. you dont understand anything and just hate primaris lol. MOVE On. or leave hobby ffs
An empire of a million worlds with soul eating gods and this is the far fetched part of the lore?
Books explored how while the Primaris are much more efficient and been trained more, They are quite lacking compared to the experience of the Firstborn, Secondly some Chapters decided to kill or be distrustful of their Primarises so it's not as smooth sailing when it comes to integration and lastly they've been described by Firstborn as robotic and not that flexible (Probably because of them being inexperienced compared to the veterans)
@@docvaliant721 Yes, that's exactly what it is (unless you're intentionally making a joke now). Even the most unbelievable stuff in 40K is typically explored narratively, and if you're into it, you can probably think of a dozen examples right from top of your head. In contrast, the development, chapter integration and the overall logistics of the Primaris reinforcements were only peripherally explored (at best).
Typically, there's stuff intentionally left hanging in the air, vague, and open-ended so that people can either explore it in a novelization, or use common sense.
In this case, the latter is currently not applicable, and the former, as mentioned earlier, is far from exhausted.
Lol i think it's hilarious that the warp gods weapon examples are melee
Hate me! I love the Primaris. New hope.
the emperors few times?
the cause of all evils few times being evil
Why arent the Custodes part of this comparison? Not enough info?
Choose the right picture related to the narrative
10:00 arent there any additional Magazines for the Weapon on the Space Marine Loadout ?
Or is the Fight Fist to Fist after one magazine ?
typically when two astartes fight they may only get a chance to mag dump once before either one closes the distance. Or in a more typical scenario when one side is outnumbered compared to the other...
1:25 where this one is from?
wonder what size tyberos the red wake would be if you put him on the juice might just need to start ripping titan armor apart to put on him
Agreed love the channel, however chaos marines do make use of several means of recruiting
The first is kidnapping where they would abduct or enslave a bunch of children into which they would be groomed into full fledge space marines like their loyalist counterparts, that being said only reliable and stable chaos legions, like the iron warriors or even world eaters would follow this practice due as well as the nightlords due to their legions stability in terms of legion cohesion as well as taint being kept to a minimum, again these tests and initiations would be far far far harder than their imperial counterparts as even for the loyalist marines, where death is expected, but needless death is a step too far, vs the nightlords who might send children the ages of five to say skin a planetary governor or what not, all the while having ten other applicants aiming for the same target, in which trust an teammates are instruments to be used in furthering their goals and anyone in the way is purely an obstacle that must be removed or destroyed.
The more common form of chaos recruiting is by simple corruption, be it due to proximity to a chaos artifact or warp portal, or mostly due to the individual, pride and ego leads to khorn, jealousy and the desire for more power leads to zsench, the love of oneself or the pursuit of lust or even joy can lead to Slaaneesh as those who enjoy drinking, arts but that rarely happens the same goes for zeench, those who are trapped in a cycle of torment and renewal fall to nurgle, however most space marines tend to go rouge out of either self interests or a sense of abandonment by the emperor and the wider imperium as a whole as see it for what it truly is, fat and bloated and corrupt,
Other forms of recruitment is through mind control and brainwashing, where wounded or injured space marines are captured and then tortured until they eventually succumb to the torture and swear allegiance to chaos, forces like nurgle and zeench make the most use out of these methods, as for slaneesh they rarely get recruits and so outside of the original emperors children, most slaneesh and even zeench usually utilize their original legions vs khorn
thousand sons even make them repeat something similar to the rubrik of ahriman
considering their lack of flesh and geneseed their transformation is all magical and ritualized
the last ritual determines who is the strongest who gets to lead the ashes of those who failed to prove themself
@@ashardalondragnipurake to be fair I’m more of a guard player and lack much in the ways of chaos
The detail in the opening image is sumptuous! I'm not familiar with the pattern and since none of the Artstation links provided by the channel work could this be AI generated? The helm is oddly asymmetrical and I've never seen lightening claws like that before?
If it was AI generated it's a shame as it means someone got ripped off somewhere. RIP DeviantArt lawsuit.
The primus was the first canary in the coalmine for the GW modern era of...bye bye for me. But you managed to make it more interesting from a lore perspective.
Noti gang gang 🔔
Can any share an official source that says that a primaris is taller than a first born marine? I still think people think this only because the models were resized. Would love to have an official source to prove me wrong.

Mark ex? Or mark ten?
I think Primaris are cool. Dunno why they made them so tall tho
Not all Chaos Space Marine follow a Chaos God nor do they all have mutations
Morning
Нож мне в печень если Император не вечен.
Personally I don't like the new primaris helmets, replacing something so iconic is on the same level as replacing chainswords with... A lightsaber or something.
How do these bulky soldiers carry ammunition?
'The model currently used by most Space Marines is designated the Astartes MK Vb Godwyn pattern. The Godwyn-pattern bolter has a built-in ammo counter and uses a Sinister/Dexter locking mechanism with a sickle-shaped magazine carrying 30 rounds.'
@@Enzo012 ok so…… can 30 rounds stop 1000, 000 aliens
That's the thing, Writers kinda suck writing Ptimaris Lore. There's a few writers than can do it right. But Primaris should take out Chaos Space Marine more easier than Ever but these writers treat them if they are weak. Like bro, why introduce primaris, if they are going to get steam rolled.
Like there was this one book, I forgot the books name. Where the alpha legion takes on Primaris and they have a Huge problem taking them on. One Prinaris takes a full blown head shot and is still pumping bolter shots into the alpha legion.
I am like, that's how you write primaris right, they still lost cause they where out numbered but they put in the work. Even the Alpha legion said"Yeah easy my Ass:
Space marine ability is inconsistent anyway, some books they're insane and can take crazy damage and others they die to 1 lasgun beam through the eye. I think its a general writing problem that GW needs to fix
**Do video** how big is the God Emperor of Mankind from humans to Space Marines, Primarchs, Custodes, Thunder Warriors and so on!.. pliz!.. 😁🤖🦾
Primaris is nothing but a new type of armor and a more efficient way of "growing" Astartes instead of painstakingly mold a child into an Astartes both invented by Cawl, let's not forget the only reason Primaris are forced upon the already retardus official lore is because GW were getting their panties in a twist over people being rightfully kinda confused and annoyed over "First born" being the same height as a guardsman while lore stated they are around on avg 2.2m (7ft 3'') while normal humans are still around irl avg of 1.8m(5ft 11''). I swear GW behaves like a pouty, spiteful and flippant teenager nowadays you need to make your own head cannon and not be afraid to say yeah this is stupid, this doesn't make sense I'll do it better and most people prob will
Lo mejor de lo mejor! (~^^)~
ILL NEVER BE A SPACE MARINE SO WHY EVEN WATCH AND OUT MYSELF DOWN
👍👍👍❤❤❤
CSM in thumbnail looks like he completely skipped no nut november for millennium
🎉
It’s so stupid how they made primaris bigger. It jusy makes them look stupid side by side and makes chaos look weak next to them
That why other SM call them abomination
In fairness though the new primaris are so much more fun and a joy to paint than the original first born.
The bigger the Better
@James Williams If you read the Primaris lore you would know GW has actually made it a bit better and it makes more sense now, but no, you just read 40k memes and think it's absolute fact

I dont think the emperor killed off the thunder warrior bcoz of their temperament. They were too strong and had a mind of their own. That itself is a threat to his rule.
Yeah, that's temperament 🤣
Do you know what temperament means?
@@Ricky_Spanishh Temperament a person's or animal's nature, especially as it permanently affects their behavior.
also temperamental (of a person) liable to unreasonable changes of mood. (also refers to temperament). I'd say the word is properly used unless your talking about the OP

Primaris are an invention of someone who doesn't understand the lore. Probably someone relatively new in the company. And because the higher ups are now greedy bastards they went along with it knowing it would sell well... To the detriment of the fans that care about the lore, and the joy of those who don't.
Wtf bro, this is terrible
Better be careful throwing that "Trans-Human" term around before Republicans lose their mind and cancel you like a budlight lol
Primaris are...not Astartes - get out of my face. Generic face masks, totally lacking in personality, no beakies either - total franchise pandering to new audience BS.
