- Vlogger @evazubeck traveled to the Ukrainian city of Lviv and from there she visited a village hidden deep in the Carpathian mountains. There she met the Hutsuls, a Slavic ethnic group with their own culture, dialect and history.

Ukraine: A Journey Back in Time | Discover the Carpathian Mountains with Vlogger Eva zu Beck 6.4.22 0652am shadows of forgotten ancestors sprang to mind. which is a very odd film. and an interesting film to view. maybe DW is a bit of a jinx? maybe it inadvertently pinpointed a region untainted by both eastern bloc and western mores? sometimes it is best, perhaps, to keep those little gems you may find on your travels a secret...? as for the "war".. no comment . they're crazy people, either way...
Thank you dear for your support 💙💛
I'm glad 7mo later.. ukraine seems to be winning the war. You can thank American tax payer money for that!
It's been 1 year
Love 💕 Ukraine
Why I'm here?? Because of Eva.. she is my favourite travel vlogger. Thanks DW
Me too
Same!! ❤️✌🏻🐉
Me to..
Totally agree!
Same
The way Eva tells her journey is adorable.
You're right
I am Mexican American and i visited the Carpathian mountains and its so beautiful
It's my dream to visit UKRAINE, particularly the Carpathian Mountains. Love from South India
Welcome to Ukraine!After the pandemic)
@@piligrim0326 thanks but, as of now it is not possible for me. Am a student so need money too 😁😁
Ukraine is so diverse. One of the most diverse places in Europe. On Eastern side you have open, steppe like environment. And on the western and southern sides you have lush, forests and mountains, more like typical Europe.
Love from East India.
6 of my great grandparents emigrated from the Carpathians when they were under the Austro-Hungarian Empire. 4 of them were Polish and 2 of them were Lemko. Like the Hutsuls, they are another Rusyn ethnic minority of eastern Slavs. Thanks for this video!
Thanks a lot for warm words about Ukraine.
Praying for ukraine now 🇺🇦🇺🇦🥺
It looks like everyone is eating well. I think honey is the only food that never spoils
that's one of my favorite places. walked in the center of the old city hundreds of times. many perfect restaurants. fairy book feeling there.
I 💘love that country village with the 🍯honeybees, homemade 🍞bread, 🧀cheese and juice.
What a wonderful place. Real authentic 💯culture.
Beautiful! I was in Vorokta region of Carpathians in 2019. Its was trully magical experience. This part of Ukraine is really beautiful
My grandad's mother was from this area. He always talked about her to me and the foods she would cook, he tried to show me how to do some of them too.
My wife's ancestors came to the US from that area over 100 years ago. Beautiful!
Love to see Eva on DW. I have been watching her for years on YT. Great job!
Thank you!
I call CZcams Time Travel machine !
@@DWTravel We are also great fans of Eva & so happy to see her here. Thank you!
I love the way that Eva helps us discover so many amazing places on our beautiful planet! Praise God for the way that he preserves culture and ethnic groups! One human race over 22,000 tribes! Eva, it would be great if you robbed a hive once, best experience ever! With extracting the honey 🍯! From beginning to end! 🙏♥️🙏
SAVE UKRAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am from India. These people have been spared the tv, smartphone and the poison that pours out from them. That is why they are so happy and peaceful. They live as a part of nature. Their art is just stunning. Salute to them.
Love to my Hutsul brothers from a Goral (we are mentioned at 6:46).Really beautiful culture I wish to visit one day.
Hello from serbia. Love all carpathian slavs! Very rich cultures.
Praying for an end to this horrific war, so Ukrainians can return to their peaceful lives.
Watching this January 2024. A glorious place with beautiful people. Sending
all blessings to Ukraine from Philadelphia.
Very nice video, greetings from Argentina
Saludos!

Well, as a Ukrainian from central Ukraine, I can definitely say, that the Hutsul dialect doesn't really differ from Poltava or Naddnipryanshchyna one. It's basically the same language with some locally-specific words.
Polish and Ukrainian are different and similar at the same time since they are both from a Slavic language family.
That's why Poles and Ukrainians can understand each other.
Yeah, and the bald guy was speaking Polish, by the way, while the couple was speaking Ukrainian.
thanks for the info for the none slavic folks.
Often hear that Ukrainians understand Polish but personally I don't understand Polish.
@@dmytrokhomenko2926 you don't concentrate enough
@@EAGauss Nah, well. Languages themselves are quite simmilar but the problem is accent. As a Pole i cant understand almost anything from Ukrainian (well, i often dont understand words that are theoretically pretty similar but pronounced completely differently).
So its easy to learn Ukrainian for Poles and easy to learn Polish for Ukrainians (i was actually really surprised how fast Ukrainians who live in my city due to complicated circumstances [Wrocław] learned polish). But tbh for Poles its even easier to understand Czech or Slovakian (really simmilar grammar and more 'understandable' pronunciation).
You know, Ukrainian sounds pretty much like western-slavic language spoken with Russian accent (and there are not many people in Poland who can speak Russian now).
Im curious though: do Russian-speakers understand Ukrainian (and other way around; i mean i think most of Ukrainians can speak both Russian and Ukrainian, right?)?
Гуцульський діалект є діалектом української мови але дуже відрізняється від неї. і в цьому є його краса, і тому його треба зберігати бо це є гонор та краса українського народу
🖐👍🇺🇲🇨🇭🏴☠️🙂 I'm grateful that I got to visit Switzerland & neighbors. Now more thankful you can take us Amerikaners to see other origins of our roots. Especially common folks involved in everyday activity. So much better than tours of castles, museums etc. Thanx very much!
Wish I could have gone. Hope they are protected from the war. Prayers! Such lovely people
Eva...my stress reliever..love watching your videos...
hello eva! I'm always amazed on how you live independently. 😍 i am a public school teacher here in the Philippines. i love watching you.
Ukraine looks fascinating.
Greetings to the south!
I would absolutely love to visit such a place. The man who makes the bells possesses such skills that over time could be lost for ever. The bees were cool as well. Thank you for sharing ❤🇺🇸
Our Eva. Always pleasant watching her.
A nation about to become the leader of all of eastern Europe.

That's very interesting! Such a beautiful place frozen in time!
Not only in Ukraine there are Lviv and the Carpathians, there are many other tourist attractions that few people know about. Those who want to see new amazing places come to Ukraine.
Amazing video! Thanks! I've been to the Carpathian Mountains a few years back and will visit again in July. I would've love to visit Ivan and Maria, I would've love to see their bees and taste their honey.
unusual! Thank you. and I posted a video of a trip to a northern town in Russia. pleasant viewing)

This is quite an interesting video. I hope to be in Romania soon and if possible I would love to pop over into Ukraine. Such colorful and artistic fabrics and friendly people.
I always enjoy your videos. Peace and Love from West Virginia.
My high school lunch cooks made home made bread 🍞 every day. l miss it. They were very nice and very good cooks. I also like honey 🍯 very much. I'm try to only have natural sweetener like honey 🍯 and sorghum syrup. I like real butter 🧈 much better than margarine.
I knew her since long ago. She made some awesome vlog.

I am Hutsul,I come from this region, but from a different village. There are nice mountains and lot of things to see. But it may be taken by russians because of week NATO support in the present war.

Great place to be in.Wish I was living here.
This is exactly what I need today. Thank you.
@evazubeck what a fabulous video of an incredible place! I would love to see such a special place such as this - a long way from Australia… but that said I think it’s magical to see these beautiful villages without “too much” tourism so they have a healthy balance of visitors and still maintaining the magic of their traditional way of life 😊 PS I never tire of seeing the joy on your face when you try fresh homemade foods - especially bread! Congratulations on this work!
Hope to see more of Eva here! Love her style of traveling and captivating way of presentation
Good suggestion.
6:25 the Hutsul clothing is basically Vlach (Romanian). The sleeveless top even kept its Romanian name (”Kiptar” coming from the Moldovan pronunciation of ”Pieptar”, derived from Latin Pectus = chest). Music is also very much Vlach influenced. Language is obviously East Slavic, very close to Ukrainian (except some Romanian loanwords, i.e. brinza = cheese).
Multiple influences, like in any border land...
The mountains are nice to travel to in summer as well as in winter. These are nice retreat spots.
Great Thanks from 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 Lviv
I love watching her vlogs. They are always so interesting and exciting.

I always wanted to visit Ukraine, now who knows when.. hopefully people will manage to preserve these places and the people will win! Thinking about what is happening in Ukraine these days and even years before is making me want to cry and Im not even Ukrainian... Wherever Russians go, they only destroy. Slava Ukraine!

*Interesting video. Lviv was created by the Ukrainian King Danylo in 1256. In near 1272 Lviv became capital of the independent Kingdom of Rus. As you know, Rus (838-1240) was only Ukrainian country. Kingdom of Rus appeared in 1253. Gutsuls are Ukrainian people, which live on the western part of Ukraine and speak in their dialect of the Ukrainian language.*
