  • The Emotion That Will Be The New Villain Of Inside Out 2!
    With so many more characters introduced and knowing little of what to expect from the new movie, fans are left questioning who the next antagonist could be. With Joy being the antagonist in the first film, we are wondering who will take up the role in the new one. Since learning to accept Sadness and her quirks, each emotion has gotten closer to one another. However, that doesn't apply to the new arriving emotions. The least likely to take that role, however, is Anxiety, as her feelings consist of everything steering her away from possible trouble. Today's video is about why Anxiety could never be the new villain and who could take her place, impacting the rest of the plot!

    While Joy was the villain in the first movie, she had very good intentions without realizing when they became toxic. She became driven by Riley's mom to keep Riley happy at all times to the point it gave Riley depression. When she saw that Sadness allowed Riley to get help and get back up again, Joy gave Sadness the core memories to turn blue. Riley needed Sadness as much as she needs her other emotions. But Envy seems like she will make Riley into a major pain in the ass before the other emotions can win the day.

    The antagonist of the first movie was not Joy or Sadness or any of the other emotions.
    The Antagonist was the move, the end of the old life, the loss of direct contact with her friends, the stress of a new school, and having to stay positive when she was anything but.
    The protagonist was Joy and to a lesser extent Sadness who had to go on a journey and encounter a wise old mentor and learn some important truths.
    The protagonist of a story is the character whose perspective the story is written around or from.
    The antagonist is the being, force, or in this case event that causes conflict in the protagonists life.
    As such the antagonist in the second movie has been known since they first implied there could be a sequel "PUBERTY!!!" and all the changes and hormones that come with it.
    The new emotions are simply a side effect of the antagonist although that doesn't mean they will not be sources of conflict themselves.

  • @datelessgamer5190
    @datelessgamer5190 Před 5 měsíci +24

    I think there wont be a villain in this either. Rather I think the issue will be the dysfunction between the other emotions suddenly having to deal with new perspectives getting in the way. For example something that used to bring joy like being a goofball may not jive with Embarrassment, who will try to protect Riley's social standing by trying to distance Riley from being too outlandish. There in lays the conflict, though the new emotions will want the best for Riley, they may not see eye to eye on everything. The issues will rise from the lack of cooperation when any of the emotions go unchecked. Once they learn to work together
    Ennui may represent boredom, unfulfillment and disappointment. Their goal will likely to push Riley to make the most of her time but will end up butting heads with joy simply not allowing Riley to enjoy the same things she used to.
    Embarrassment will represent social pressure and hesitation. They likely will want to protect Riley from damaging her relationships and making a good impression on others, but will likely once again, butt heads with joy and to another extent sadness by trying to suppress her other emotions from standing out too much and may result in her keeping her feelings hidden.
    Envy will represent jealousy but also likely represent aspirations and desires as well. Envy will likely try to push Riley to take action to achieve the best outcome such as being the best hockey player or in wanting a new phone. Envy will probably butt heads with Fear as Envy may ignore possible consequences and if not kept in check may do irrational things in the pursuit of personal satisfaction. I doubt Envy will be a villain despite what people think, she'll just be the more driven and reckless of the emotions.
    Anxiety will likely represent uncertainty, caution and stress. I get the feeling Anxiety with be both the biggest problem and the solution. Her goal will likely be to keep Riley's emotions in check to prevent disasters big and small...the sort of problem solver of the group. I feel she will be the one to subtly express the problems with the discoordination of the other emotions and rather than control Riley herself, she will end up influencing the other emotions with her uncertainty. She will likely exacerbate emotions like Fear, Anger and disgust leading to panic attacks, stress and resentment. At the same time her influence will likely be key to coordinating emotions like Fear and Envy which should compliment each other by limiting Envy's influence with Fear's logic. Joy will likely once again disregard anxiety as a troublemaker because of her influence but will come to realize just like with sadness, that it is still a necessary emotion.
    The payoff will likely see perhaps the new emotions getting their own room, sort of forming their own team which coordinates with the main 5 emotions rather than getting in the way which would also explain why we didn't see them in the adults. Just my theories though.

      @@johanstenfelt1206 Actually, I believe joy will end up being open to the new emotions albeit hesitantly. With her experiences with sadness, I think she will try to take a backseat and allow them to do their thing. The problem will arise because the new emotions must be tempered by the old ones in order to remain constructive and all the old emotions will likely have no idea how and will just see the new emotions as obstacles. I think Joy will have the most animosity towards anxiety but will need to work with them in order to corral the more chaotic emotions like Envy into being a more positive influence.
      Edit: What I mean is, it will probably look like the new emotions are antagonists for most of the film but by the end will realize they are just as important as the core 5 and learn how to balance each other out.

The first is just the person the story follows while the second is what the protagonist has to go up against. Some might say the move was the antagonist but... not it wasn't. It was a catalyst that caused Joy to make some bad choices involving Sadness, thus Joy is both the protagonist and antagonist.
      Now for this sequel, yeah Anxiety will be the antagonist. She had Embarrassment bottle up the Core 5, she's the one in main control of Riley after the fact, and she's the one that tells a group of Mind Workers to start 'Project New Riley' which would imply that's something she came up with.

So having Joy, being the main leader of the emotions, makes me feel like Riley, will generally be a happy and optimistic person! Unless another emotion is set to be decided as the leader at puberty, and we are all born with joy as our primary emotion? We are creatures of habit, so we would always want to go back to being happy... it's utterly fascinating.

    Does Riley have depression? The final crisis of IO1 does suggest that and Enui may be a symptom of it having not gone treated in any way over the past few years,
    It would be an interesting step if Riley has to reject one of the emoitions and we see a panicing Enui or Envy fading away as Riley actively seeking an emotional balance.

    I think Envy will be the bad one. Envy a considered one of the 7 deadly sins. I hope envy becomes a beastly version of themself. But probably not since Disney is all about unicorns and lollipops.

    I doubt there will be an actual villain, we all have these feelings and yes we want to fight them but they will always be there. So if there is a "villain", they won't defeat it.

    Ok I’m gonna have to disagree strongly with the thing that Joy was the antagonist of Inside Out.
    I saw her as more not understanding that sadness was important.
    And I DO think she was right to try to stop Sadness from messing with a core memory. Not sure what happens if the wrong emotion touches a memory exactly but by the look of it it could change how the memory was portrayed emotion wise. And a happy memory should STAY a happy memory.

    How exactly is Anxiety a good emotion to have? Same goes for Embarresment.

    • @trevorwinship1246
      @trevorwinship1246 Před 4 měsíci +3

      Actually, I think embarrassment would be a great emotion to have. It comes from starting with being embarrassed about little things, but it can help build confidence, or to not get as embarrassed about some things. People will always get embarrassed, but it helps make people more human. Anxiety is also an emotion that many people have nowadays, and I don't think it's necesarrily always a good emotion to have, but it does mix between at least a couple emotions. Like, anxiety could come out when your going on a big trip, or before a big test, or anything big usually. But, anxiety helps to tone down the feelings, to keep them contained, but it gets annoying to feel, cause I had anxiety from January 3-5 nonstop, then it finally went away, but then came back on January 9-12, and now it hasn't been back since.

      You are aware adrenal glands are a result of anxiety right and embarrassment is much like pain where pain prevents you hurting a injury more by discomfort so does embarrassment when you think about doing something stupid it prevents that.

      Idk why but I don't feel embarrassment in situations people find embarrassing, I end up embarrassing people on accident lol
      it'd probably be best if I did, I have a hard time understanding people in social situations and I'm a bit more extroverted (imma talkative ambivert) so I end up blurting out nonsense for fun and can never tell how others feel about it

    So here’s what I don’t get. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust all already have the potential traits for this film. Anxiety wasn’t necessary as Fear already IS anxious about EVERYTHING! We can see him literally worry about things that are so outlandish and he acts like a nervous wreck. Also, given the fact the adults were shown with the main 5 emotions but they just morphed to look more like the person they are within, really seems like should of been the character development of the whole cast. It seems weird to inject Anxiety, this character who is absolutely out of place.
