Could not agree more. Dozing of only to wake up and find England had a load of wickets. Cheers

Really nice to see that reaction from Tuffers. He looked after Henry in the last few years of the great man's career I always felt. Gently correcting him when he didn't quite see things correctly and doing himself down to make sure Blowers never looked too mistake prone.
    Top bloke.

I tell you what'll always get me about this clip - the fact you can hear the crowd applauding in the background. Cricket is such a family, in a way - we give it out, we hammer our players sometimes, but we always look after our own. Blowers was one of us - a true gentleman, and a stalwart of the game. He deserved that applause, and he deserves it still. Well done Blowers indeed.

Excellently well put, my friend. The greatest sport in the World, with the most respectful and well mannered, well humoured watchers thrown in.

Well.....he then did a lap of honour round the ground, high-fiving the spectators, so it wasn't exactly John Arlott.

Was an excellent commentator back in the day but went on far too long made too many mistakes but it was his own decision to retire

Initially I didn't particularly like Henry Blofeld's commentaries, but then I realised how good he was at literally painting pictures with words, whether it was about the action on the pitch, activity in the crowd, aircraft and helicopters flying overhead, or even buses passing outside the ground.
I used to think that if I was an ex-pat Englishman living a long way from home, listening to him would make me feel quite homesick.

Bloody hell, Henry Blofeld was great to listen to, along with Christopher Martin Jenkins, Fred Trueman, Tony Greig, Jonathan Agnew, Phil Tufnell and many other Pommie cricket commentators. Fair Bloody Dinkum They are so much better than our Australian commentators, so boring especially Terry Alderman, Terry would put you to sleep.
