I first visited Taiwan in 2011 and it was the greatest adventure I ever had. I returned in 2017 and spent a month traveling all over the island. Since then, I have had two kids and I cannot wait to return with them and show them this beautiful country full of friendly, wonderful people.

Definitely feel you. Spent time living in China, Japan, and Taiwan. All 3 were quite different. China was very big, lots to see and explore...lots of adventure. I didn't see myself staying there long-term though. Japan was unique as well. Lots of stuff to do and see, quite clean, but I just felt the societal aspect a bit stifling. To be honest, it can be quite lonely in Tokyo and Japan is not exactly the most foreigner friendly place. Taiwans a bit smaller, a little less adventure, but friendly, comfortable, safe, and just overall nice quality of life.

I was a foreigner myself walking the same streets in Taichung as you 7 years ago and stayed in Taiwan for 5 years. The culture, the adventure, the food, the 7-11, the people there is amazing.
I’m now in Singapore but I miss everything about Taiwan everyday. My CZcams is set to Taiwan (that’s how this video shows up in my recommended), I still watch Taiwanese news and programs, looking everywhere for Taiwanese cuisine and buying Taiwanese products that are exported here.
Have fun while you’re there and I’m sure you’ll have a Taiwanese soul in you very soon like me and many other foreigners who’ve stayed in Taiwan.

@@clin7043 Asian people are too nice to the westerners, when foreigners say one country's people are very friendly, I don't think it's good. We should respect people from every country but not grant foreigners too much privilege.China now has much more confidence when face the west, so maybe in foreigners' eyes Chinese is not "friendly" enough. But I can promise they are treated equally in China, just not enjoy privilege as what they experienced in other Asian counties like Vietnam, Thailand, Philippine etc.Another reason might be nowdays China has strong anti-west mindset, so we don't admire the west. After all, our value is not aligned with the west. I think this is part of reason why this guy moved to Taiwan.
