- I put a lot of time into making these isolated tracks because I love Van Halen. If you feel like being the most awesome person ever, and would like to support my channel, my Venmo is @VanHalenIsolated and my CashApp is $clockwork26 . If you make a donation of $20 or more, I can make you a personal isolated track, whether it be Van Halen or another band. I cannot promise that it will come out amazing, but it could come out amazing, or awful (in which case we can choose another or you can be okay with the one you have.). I pay for a few programs to make the isolated tracks and it will really help if you could even send a couple of bucks. It all adds up and it would be much appreciated. The more I receive, the more time I can put towards doing this. Also, let me know of any ideas for the channel as well!

Still my fav riff in Rock.
Been one of my top 5 since I first got the 1984 album when I was 10. I had Christian parents and it was super hard to convince them to get the album considering the cover lol. But I told my mom about how she used to listen to 1984 when she was pregnant with me and that did the trick haha.
@@VanHalenIsolated Funny you mention Christian parents. Back in the eighties my aunt became a bible thumper and confiscated her boys’ cassettes. She called my mother and told her to look through my tapes, especially Motley Crue. Sure enough, Mom asked to see a Crue tape so I showed her “Shout at the Devil”. She said “Good grief, those are men? They look like drag queens”. She handed the tape back to me and said she didn’t care what I listen to as long as I didn’t play it loud when she was around. Hell yeah!
Sounds like crap. Either the isolation cut most of the tone or the original mix cut it out. Sounds better live. Way better.
@grayboo212 basically the same thing my parents said. But I but a Bass and tortured them from my room anyways 🤘
Come on man, you can't say you have a favourite riff , especially with EVH. he has so much amazing stuff
That verse riff : you can virtually hear the touch lighten up on the pick - Ed was such a master of dynamics and how to project at the right moments . Really love hearing these isolated tracks
This just has that whole early 80’s California vibe to it ….. bright n sunny , beach , bikinis etc…
All his isolated tracks alone are national treasures, live forever Eddie!! 🎸🐐🔥
That outro riff and solo still stuffs my muffin since 1984.
That bluesy shuffle comin in at 2:40 is pure aural bliss
That end Riff is just so damn badass. When Alex comes in it is just so powerful. Eddie really was such a unique and amazing guitarist.
That BELL man. It drives the entire end of the tune just as hard as Eddie.
Love this forever.
@@PhpGtr 100% agree. Alex is one of the best in the business and him and Ed complimented each other to a T.
Alex not coming in today!!
Eddie Van Halen, certified genius, one-of-a-kind enigma. They broke the mold, surely sorely missed.
The greatest rhythm guitarist in rock history
I have to agree...
No that would be Malcolm Young.
@@JohnVieto No Eddie is the greatest rhythm guitarist in rock history it's not even close!
GOAT and it's not even close.
U can tell ed was ultimately deep down a happy dude. Always a smile on his face and always producing badass but upbeat music.
My all time favorite Van Halen guitar track. This, “ 5150 “ and “ Amsterdam “ have the best guitar playing. Tone, tenacity and taste. Eddie is the greatest, plain and simple.
I agree. I think Amsterdam doesn't get enough attention because the lyrics are a bit silly and Balance wasn't that well received, but hot damn it's so good.
Once again I say , no one will ever have that feel , swagger that effortless ability that Edward had.
R.I.P. Eddie ❤❤❤❤ we Love you !!
A virtuoso who was also a musical genius. RIP EVH
Incredible timing.
The outro riff starting around 2:40 is absolutely addictive to my ears, the slight off key dips and bends just feel perfect.
That riff is so goddamn cool.
That outro jam is so damn funky
@ 3.51 to 3.54 ...now that shows Eddies genius..he takes you to outa space and back again with that lic.
Eddie = GOAT
My favorite tone of all time
It's a great crunch tone, but I think it shows its the whole band that makes these songs truly magical. I mean, this tone is really not that crazy, its honestly pretty standard tone I hear people get all the time. It's just he did that sound first.
the outro solo is the best thing in the universe of all time
This song and album takes me back to the summer 84,senior in high school, Lotta fun and big bags of weed,😂
Simply glorious. Fun fact with the main picture on this video of Eddie in the studio from the early 90s it shows some of the gear he used to record the song with, the Flying V guitar and THE Marshall Superlead (the one with no label and torn tolex). He recorded the outro solo with either the Frankenstrat (seen in the picture with a Kramer banana neck designed by Tom Anderson) or the Kramer 5150, we don't know for sure.
Eddy rules
no one can write riffs like him
Those power chords are so rich. These single tracks are the best.
So raw sounding. Skin and bone scraping on wood and metal
1:53 was the best one lol. Damn thats power.
Brilliant work, keep them coming!
This and Unchained are my all-time favorite riffs!
Keep the coming bro! Awesome and thanks!
Jeez. This is what it’s all about
Such a total kick-ass track!
The FEEL
All in all, their best song I believe.
This riff is magical
SWEET JESUS!!
Van Halen’s Back in Black, love this track.
One of my favorite VH tunes
Fantastic EVH!
Truly one of a kind
Appreciate the work!
Thank you!
@@walterevans2118 always love learning new info. Thank you!
Your isolated track of this timeless kick ass song is "the best audio quality" I've discovered on CZcams. You can really hear Allan Holdsworth's influence on Eddie, during his epic solo. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah it’s difficult to get it completely isolated and I’m always down for someone else coming out with one cleaner. I just thought that it’s better than nothing but it’s also not horribly semi isolated. And the more I listen to the more I’m okay with the quality.
God, I miss him. Hey Wolfie, let's get all those recordings out!
Yes! Or Sunset Sound too. They have some tracks. At least they said they still do.
YES!
Amazing stuff. A true master of guitar and innovation. In other live videos you can see the D-Tuna that he invented with Floyd Rose Co. Used by everyone today
Long live the King!
Yeeeeaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1984🤘😎🤘
EVH was amazing.
His tone definitely doesn't grab me on this album like it did on the earlier albums when I listen to isolated guitar tracks. I do love it the same however
💪🤘👍
Man, the timing in the verse. It's hard to just keep your fot counting straighr 4/4. He was such a great songwriter and arranger. He should get more credit for that.. 🫶
And that ever present chorus
What I like about isolated tracks is you can easily see the bias of people. If I showed this video to a huge EVH fan, but said it was a cover. How much you want to bet they'd say, "Sounds really good, but no EVH."?
Yeah, I agree to an extent with, “no one will ever play like [insert guitarist’s name here],” because ever player is unique in their own way. But there are people who can get pretty damn close, even with Van Halen. Jim Gaustad and Pete Thorn get pretty close.
Edward the G.O.A.T
The G.O.A.T
I read that this was Eddie’s response to AC/DC’s Back in Black.
Strange that Angus never liked Eddie Van Halen's guitar work. Eddie wrote some great riffs
EVH forever
1:21 I love that part 🎸
✌👍👌🤘
At 3:42 I hear some Django Reinhardt influence, or possibly some Allen Holdsworth?
Only one Ed
Is that an original 1958 Corina flying v ?
Yeah
Hey go listen to alright now by free and holy…Sh!+ if it ain’t Eddie giving props to Paul kosoff! Ya know, at least the opening riff
EVH
Who sang along?
I do sometimes when I’m not playing along with the guitar
Is anyone else hearing an octave pedal mixed in with the outro riff?
Quite possibly. You never know with Eddie. He did have one that’s for sure. I’m not sure when he started using one though. I’m sure a quick internet search will disclose that. One of my favorite VH songs though too. Fun to play on guitar as well.
it’s definitely there. whether it’s a pedal or his harmonizer rack unit is up for discussion. ed had been using octave back in Fair warning days, and the harmonizer since the second album
That’s an Eventide 910. Very distinct.
He was dabbing with it during the 1984 sessions and went on to put it to work HEAVILY on 5150.
@@FloridaManMatty the harmonizer sound is present on vh2, and fair warning. fair warning was the first time he used it heavily, but you can hear it on some tracks on VH2 tastefully
He had a Boss octave pedal on his last pedalboards for this riff! I think I read somewhere that this original recording was the MuTron octave divider but I'm not 100%.
Hense..I'm writing you where everyone Wright's Roberto's to everybody else's
I’m sorry I don’t follow. What are Robertos? Lol
was he in drop tuning for the whole song, or just the left channel in the coda?
Even Ed's out of key scales somehow fit the song. Begs the question, were they really out of key in the first place?!
Probably the 2nd greatest riff writer in rock history. Page is #1.
Love Jimmy Page’s playing and everything else he does including song writing but in my opinion, since we are talking about subjectivity here since it’s art, I’d go with Eddie Van Halen as the greatest riff writer. Or more accurately said: he’s my favorite riff writer since some people like country music lol 🤮. If I could only take one album on a deserted island with me it would be Van Halen 1 or 2. It’s driving me crazy thinking if I could only take one. Ef it, I’m making the rules, I’m taking the first 6 albums.
@@VanHalenIsolated Lol. I hear ya! Eddie was the epitome of gifted. He and Page and SRV are my 3 all-time favs.
For me it's EVH by a country mile because he is so unique. Page's riffs have that familiarity to them because they are basically electrified blues riffs that we all heard before. I find Page quite boring to listen to compared to Van Halen. VH was totally unique and had a total freedom feel to his playing that is so tight in rhythm and swing and yet completely loose in expressing idea.
No. Everything he ever did was intentional. It's tension and release and not just in music, but in life as well
Without the 150,000$ console and another 100,000$ in outboard gear this sounds like it was recorded in a crappy apartment room. Money is what makes music sound good, skill is only the beginning to record it, if this was released like this everyone would laugh even though the technical skills are one of a kind.
Ted T. and the engineer who's name deserves to be widely known!
@@dancarter482 Absolutely!! Hardware and skills, without that it sounds like crap, now you know why U2 will not release any stems or instrumentals, after it was shown how crap they sound during the making of “The Joshua Tree” classic albums. That documentary proves that without the hardware mixer, outboard gear and without Steve and Flood they would not last 2 years playing since they sound like garbage on the 2 “ reels. I think even Madonna has better vocal stems than U2 shown on the reel playback parts of that documentary. This is why Live Bands suck in the recording Studio when they go in a mainstream POP direction.
@@danfuerthgillis4483 Good one. And one of the _MANY_ reasons I despise VanHagar is that it is all overproduced PAP! Ted T. and the engineer left with DLR. ~ Taking the original _Signature Sound_ with them.
@@dancarter482 Indeed Agree once the magic leaves it will never be the same again.
I highly disagree that money is the only thing that makes music sound good.
Handsome riff !!!!!!!
Nice adjective lol
I have a burning question... starting at approximate time frame of 2:34 were they sharing track space with Al and the ride cymbal...?? I mean, it is not unusual to share track space where we can, IT is also another way to make certain tracks have "spacial contrast" w/ the end results being a more "robust," way to "thicken" a "lonesome" track, balance it out if you will!! But by this time in modern recording (circa 1983-84) there are gigantic consoles with 48, 64, 96 even if needed channels, that holds true for tape machines, most are 24 track, but they can be "daisychained" and linked together with time code, making every thing all "nice-nice!!"
I was just wondering...
ANYWAY KEEP ON KEEPING ON BROTHERAND SISTER ROCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!😁
PEACE!!!!!!!!!!🤘🏼
this is an isolation done by AI, not an original track. AI can somewhat tell the difference between guitar and drums, but there are some things that it cannot split yet due to similar frequencies. in this case it can’t tell the difference between the guitar and ride cymbal, it has nothing to do with track sharing. until the AI is better, we’ll just have to deal with these artifacts unfortunately..
Yeah I’ve been noticing a lot of bleed through with lots of Van Halen songs. They recorded live, at least in the beginning and I’m assuming later on too with 1984 at 5150, so there’s going to be a little bleeding of other tracks at times. It might not even be a bleeding ride cymbal during the live recording. It could be that they mixed it together that way too. If only Eddie knew that some day an obsessive fan would want to isolate his guitar tracks and to keep them as separate as possible lol. I mean with VH, a lot of the guitar stuff is stereo left in the early days, making it a lot easier to isolate.
@@VanHalenIsolated the ride cymbal and crash cymbal was overdubbed on Drop Dead Legs. eddie remembered overdubbing cymbals on “i’ll wait” but this song is way more obviously the cuplrit… hi hat and ride/crash cymbal happening at the same time, definitely overdubbed
