Joseph DeCourcy is a familiar name, I feel I've seen his name in a few New York newspapers in the early 30s. If his music he did by then was half as good as this here, then it's no wonder he'd be popular down there.
Hang onto your hats. It is 1929 and later in the year the stock market is going to crash, leading to the era of depression songs and a sad farewell to the jazz age. Gosh how I love the music of the 20s.
Fascinating rarity. Presumably Apex had their own studio in Montreal, if this was recorded there....
Definitely the most highly tempered and danceable orchestration, of this famous tune I've ever heard!!! The mid insert of an other one of 1927 JUST LIKE A BUTTERFLY is a smart and pleasant difference to other versions, thank you for sharing
Right spirited, ain’t it?
I am also roybo1930! This record it just BEAUTIFUL! I love the little touch of "Just Like A Butterfly Caught In The Rain" Supurb Record!
Tuba to the fore counterpoint to the drums

Great sound for a late acoustic recording!
This is a very good piece here.
Excellent version mate, can't find any info on this band..unless it's a psuedo for somebody else..not seen that label before either
