    Hard Seltzer is a mix of water and sugar that's fermented and then flavoured, usually with fruit flavourings. In this video we talk you through the process from start to finish and show you just how easy it is to brew your own Hard Seltzer at home.

    I’ve done the lallemand recipe (for yeast nutrients ) but with lutra so far. Great results too and cheaper than the mix. I’ve got two packs though to try out.

    A nicely done video. The disscussion style brought out the questions and answers that I was asking in my head without the falseness of obvious scripting. Tempting.
    I think you hinted at Alco-pops which were portrayed as the scourge of the youngs folks morals some years ago.

    just brewed a seltzer following Omega Yeast's recipe and it is a light yellow colour after adding the Omega nutrient pack - does this clear ?

    • @themaltmiller8438
      @themaltmiller8438  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes it will clear down but not entirely, it does leave a slight hue.

    Just wondering, did you use tap water or reverse osmosis water/filtered/etc?

    • @themaltmiller8438
      @themaltmiller8438  Před 8 měsíci

      Just Tap water, treated with sodium met to remove the chlorine

    Can you just bottle carb with sugar if you don’t have kegs, and what type of water profile is recommended?

    • @themaltmiller8438
      @themaltmiller8438  Před 2 lety

      Yep you can do that if you would like! Exactly the same process as beer. In terms of water we used direct for our tap with no additions except to remove chlorine so I don’t think you need to over think it

    I know this video is old but I'm thinking of playing with hard seltzer this summer and I own a digiboil that we used for candle making before. Is a digiboil useful for making hard seltzer?

      Having not used one its hard to say but if you can boil in it then yes, it should be all good!

    Is normal table sugar ok to use guys

    • @themaltmiller8438
      @themaltmiller8438  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes it is. We use the dextrose as it’s a powder and dissolves really easily.

      @themaltmiller8438  Před 2 lety

      We don’t but you can buy exactly the same from Nesbits. Also from IKEA. Be careful on the output, the really cheap ones are only 1800w or so, ideally you want as close to 3kw as possible.

      @@NovizivoN Hey William, It is really strange with those pots, yes they worked with the 3kw Buffalo but not with some domestic induction hobs in Europe. My guess is yes it will work but as I am unable to test I can not confirm 100%

    Hmm, I wonder. Rather than making a starter for a lager could just do a seltzer for the wife then re pitch onto the yeast cake.

    • @martinrake1486
      @martinrake1486 Před 2 lety +1

      No reason you couldn’t do that. There was a rather nice set yeast cake in the bucket at the end. You’d still need to add nutrients to the wort
