If you’re already using heavy fishing line and breaking off, you might have to use a wire leader to stop sharp teeth from biting through.

It was the fishing gear that was left in the boat so it was kind of a crap shoot. When we were in Cabo we went to a tackle shop and she set me up. Did a service on the reel, loaded it up with new and stronger line and then selected a few appropriate lures and made leaders for them all. I’ve since added a bit more kit and am slowly learning. If you watch GnT sailing’s version of the trip there is a scene in part two of us in the tackle shop.
