  • Turned out to be the motor! Can't tell you why or what was wrong with it but after trying pretty much all electrical options i just swapped it out and bingo. Hope this helps someone...somewhere.
A big thank goes out you to everyone who kindly offered advice.
This is a Hotpoint WMT03 running through it's broken cycle. Changed the main bearings as it was very noisy and the carbon brushes are perfect with lots of use left. Still trying to find a solution but any advice would be very gratefully received.

Aaaah must be the motor speed controller

because unless theres marks on the board its a faulty connection on the connector, often one of the cables going into it have melted/burned/come away completely.nothing serious but makes it look very serious

Seems your tacho meter on the rear on the engine is missing or loose, check that.

Well how does that explain the burnmarks away from the connectors when Electronicdeluxes went...

Yep, definately circuit board, me and my mate Chris did the same with a WMA22 and it ddid this, as well as flashing.

You're having the same problem as TechnoMoffat. It's the PCB for sure. Its just going to keep doing this if you dont switch it off and replace the circuit board.

funny how this does what mine did - I changed the bearings in mine too. The motor was ok but the PCB is blown

this is not a circuit board fault, one of the wires has come loose on the connection to the circuit, easy and cheap by an engineer

exept mine went with a bang and a large flash..

Guys thank you very much for all the comments. I had totally forgotten about this video and i'm sorry to have not got back as to the results. In the end after trying a refurbed board, brushes and just about everything else i could think of to no avail. The in a last ditch effort i changed out the motor and everything started working like a charm.
So it was the motor! I don't know what could have caused it other than old age but it's still working fine to this day...touch wood.
