  • Hope you had a nice long Labor Day weekend because Pedals and Effects is putting in work! We've got a surprise debut from the homies over at Meris. Meris is currently one of the most creative effects pedal makers going right now and we're always stoked to rep them. They hit you the Ottobit Jr., they brought you the Mercury7, and they came at you with the Polymoon. This small three person team, is once again changing the game, and this time, it's with the Enzo synth.

    A little about the filter discussion: low pass, high pass, and band pass refers to what the filter is doing, low pass lettings the lows “pass through” and removes the high end, vice versa for a high pass, band pass lets through a specific band removing the lows and highs on either end. But I’m pretty sure you guys and most people know all that.
    The “ladder” in ladder filter, refers to the circuitry used to achieve the filtering. An analogy would be a tube amp verse solid state amp. Or even better would be a bucket brigade delay verse a digital delay. The difference in circuitry in the filters leads to different tonal characteristics. The classic Moog synths used ladder filters, SO ITS OBVIOUSLY THE BEST DUH.
    Also big up on the drum n bass breaks at the end!

    'microtonal' is kind of a different thing to detuning, it's more of a compositional tuning system rather than a tone thing

    • @dnwy7466
      @dnwy7466 Před 5 lety

      Actually it is also a tone thing, as you can create different tones using microtonal changes. Also microtonal changes are definitely used for detuning on synths.

    i'm at like 9:30 couple minutes into Juan playing and... did something get messed up in the recording? It sounds like ass, no low end at all for the pitched down sounds. Something is missing here or I'm going crazy
    Edit: Seems like the signal is just super low or something? No idea what's happening

  • @ntrembat2002
    @ntrembat2002 Před 6 lety +7

    What is the fastest playing speed in each mode before it mis-tracks? Does it reset the attack for every note when playing quickly (i.e., through the sustain period of the previous note)? Does it follow input loudness or just pitch and timing? Does it have aftertouch? How does it handle a strong attack from something like uncompressed bass slapping or mic'd drums? Looking through the manual, it does not seem possible to both be able to access presets and to use an expression pedal without using a MIDI controller, and that the pedal's global settings cannot be accessed without a power down and reboot. Is this correct? Can the pedal's firmware be updated?

    I have the meris Enzo and play edm/ synth wave/ heavy funk music. And it’s an integral part of my sound. If you don’t like tweaking pedals I don’t recommend getting it unless ya have the midi i/o or the foot switch as it can get super complicated but if you’re patient enough ya get some wild sounds.

    The only complaint I have about Meris pedals is it is not stereo left and right input....just a single input for the stereo, but atleast it's still full stereo. That is the reason I will end up getting the Ottobit Jr instead of the Geiger Counter. Other pedal makers take note, stereo pedals and especially full stereo pedals will sell way more pedals for you.
