- Hope you had a nice long Labor Day weekend because Pedals and Effects is putting in work! We've got a surprise debut from the homies over at Meris. Meris is currently one of the most creative effects pedal makers going right now and we're always stoked to rep them. They hit you the Ottobit Jr., they brought you the Mercury7, and they came at you with the Polymoon. This small three person team, is once again changing the game, and this time, it's with the Enzo synth.

I know this post is 2 years old, a few weeks ago I bought the Enzo and I've been looking for you tubes to help me.
I'm learning so much from you guys, well you're The Best!
Thanks.... Juan rocks and Nick is a crazy Pedal Sevant....just amazing,
Love you guys!
you guys cant ruin my wallet like that, come on
A little about the filter discussion: low pass, high pass, and band pass refers to what the filter is doing, low pass lettings the lows “pass through” and removes the high end, vice versa for a high pass, band pass lets through a specific band removing the lows and highs on either end. But I’m pretty sure you guys and most people know all that.
The “ladder” in ladder filter, refers to the circuitry used to achieve the filtering. An analogy would be a tube amp verse solid state amp. Or even better would be a bucket brigade delay verse a digital delay. The difference in circuitry in the filters leads to different tonal characteristics. The classic Moog synths used ladder filters, SO ITS OBVIOUSLY THE BEST DUH.
Also big up on the drum n bass breaks at the end!
At 2:16 does Juan say he shits in a bin?
😂😂😂😂
haha! awesome!
So if I plug my synth into this will it make it sounds like a guitar?
mekl9 It will make the matrix glitch out.
only if you plug it in the output jack
Yes
Yeah, string it first.
Good grief Meris. Absolutely on the right trajectory, 4 killer pedals in a row!
'microtonal' is kind of a different thing to detuning, it's more of a compositional tuning system rather than a tone thing
Actually it is also a tone thing, as you can create different tones using microtonal changes. Also microtonal changes are definitely used for detuning on synths.
I don't know how many times I've watched this video. Every time I do however I learn something else about my Enzo and I also laugh my ass off at the very end clip. Cracks me up, thanks guys!
I don’t think I’ve ever had such instant pedal envy. Omg I need this immediately! Great vid, guys!
I love this channel so much. You just know whatever is getting reviewed its gonna be some kickarse shit. Thanks Juan and Nick.
Sounds great, I love Meris. I bought a Otto Bit Jr as soon as I could after I saw your video. Looks like a repeat of the same situation. Thanks Juan and Nick!
The Meris folks are very nice and extremely friendly to new customers. I purchased my Enzo directly from them and their attention to detail was exemplary! A really fabulous pedal that is extremely useful from many standpoints.
More of a technical demo which what I definitely need with this pedal. I was so confused when I got it with how to utilize all the different functions. Thanks for the great explanations!
The spot on miming at 21:44 is hilarious 😂
When nick started mouthing what Juan was saying perfectly i lost my shit lol
Still the strangest-mind blowing-awesome pedal ever! I mean... woooow! I’m re-watching this and still learning from this pedal. It’s...
love it
(It’s so good to have you back, Juan.
Hope to see you soon with more gear stuff.
Cheers from Mexico 🇲🇽)
nick that beat at tthe very end had me on the floor, more please!!
Bros! Excellent drop! 🙌🚀🤖🤛
i'm at like 9:30 couple minutes into Juan playing and... did something get messed up in the recording? It sounds like ass, no low end at all for the pitched down sounds. Something is missing here or I'm going crazy
Edit: Seems like the signal is just super low or something? No idea what's happening
i think the low end isnt getting picked up w/ the mic or camera or whatevs :/ the posts on insta seem pretty fat tho so im still onboard
def sounds like the sound quality of the actual pedal wasn't picked up. Just also watched The Pedal Zone vid on Enzo and it has all the low end and grit in that review that one would want from a synth pedal. Sounds glorious.
yeah i felt physically sickened by the square bass sound lmao. i legit couldnt listen to it
The mix is fully wet.
So basically the trend is synth pedals now
I've had Enzo for a while, still learning stuff, F'n killa demo!!
The color of the Enzo pedal reminds me of the Digitech Space Station
Just tell me about that beautiful 4 string.
I'll order one today! Love
7:42 that monosynth sound my jaw dropped
Ha! Love this demo! I feel like I understand this pedal a lot better now
The ladder filter refers to the legendary Moog filter from the 60s.
12:04 Mr. Sandman, Bring me a dream. Dude I literally just got the Seymour Duncan FOOZ and LOVE IT but now I gotta have this! Ahhh, First-World Problems.
What is the fastest playing speed in each mode before it mis-tracks? Does it reset the attack for every note when playing quickly (i.e., through the sustain period of the previous note)? Does it follow input loudness or just pitch and timing? Does it have aftertouch? How does it handle a strong attack from something like uncompressed bass slapping or mic'd drums? Looking through the manual, it does not seem possible to both be able to access presets and to use an expression pedal without using a MIDI controller, and that the pedal's global settings cannot be accessed without a power down and reboot. Is this correct? Can the pedal's firmware be updated?
Also, how does it track on a bass B string?
Hopefully they restock love that thing
Absolutely amazing....It's like a better version of the FM4 plus the Arpanoid by EQD plus 13 other pedals. This is the pedal that's been in my dreams. Damn.
Could the pitch shifting section of this replace my bass whammy, together with an expression pedal of course? That would probably;y push me over the edge to buying it!
Big and wild as ever! Incredible pedal. Only thing I didn't understand is if I can make my own presets and save them on the pedal?
Can you guys do one on the Boss slowgear and similar effects?
Can it be used like a straight octave pedal as well?
Game Changer. Inspiration Machine. Getting One. Pedal of the Year.
Nick, would love to see you demo the Alexander Marshmallow 😀
Nice Juan!! Thanks
great job, fellas.
Last thing I would expect is a Death Grips shoutout. That's why Nick and Juan are the best mad scientists ever
Please come back, we miss you 😢
Big ups my G Mr grips 24:54
nick is my favorite death grip
MERIS is killin it!
I have the meris Enzo and play edm/ synth wave/ heavy funk music. And it’s an integral part of my sound. If you don’t like tweaking pedals I don’t recommend getting it unless ya have the midi i/o or the foot switch as it can get super complicated but if you’re patient enough ya get some wild sounds.
I'm really interested in this for the ARP sounds, are there any other pedals that do this?
Steve Smith, I’m pretty sure the ehx pitch fork can do that...
Dope video
The only complaint I have about Meris pedals is it is not stereo left and right input....just a single input for the stereo, but atleast it's still full stereo. That is the reason I will end up getting the Ottobit Jr instead of the Geiger Counter. Other pedal makers take note, stereo pedals and especially full stereo pedals will sell way more pedals for you.
Aaaaaand SOLD!!!!
I like the jibber jabb about the pedals.
Not going to lie only buying this pedal because it has my name in it
I like how he dropped some trash generator in at like 29:30 or so. Nice.
Dude this thing is a Ripper! I have no practical use for a synth at the moment, but if I did this would be the jammer
Is there a Mario Lo-Pass Filter?
Sounds cool but you def need to run that in a dry/wet rig, too much original signal loss. Or I guess I should say that I would need to. To each their own. But a cool pedal for sure. Thanks for sharing
I got to get this pedal
hella fire
That square/pwm is so dope
16:11 Nick vs 20:14 Enzo
Nick making the worlds next greatest techno record in, like, 2 minutes there at the end? XD
It’s difficult to me configurate Enzo for bass, Someone can explain me how can I configurate this pedal and sound great ?
It's tough to configure it out, huh?
Daniel Walker Yes, it’s tough
Doesn't seem to track well on bass, lower notes. Am I wrong?
Love the talking guys! Keep talking about cool shit!!
If you are high, when Juan is naming off what the knobs do and Nick is mouthing what Juan is saying. It matches up great. Lol
The lip-sync part is hilarious. Rad demo!!
That dry sound on guitar is hilarious! PLEASE run that into a Miku!
The most obvious pedal purchase ever for me especially now that I'm running a stereo rig.
Intro clip got me hooked. You guys showed this off perfectly.
Where would this go in a standard pedalboard signal chain??
After dirt and compression and before mod, delay and reverb
Dumpster.
Nick really is a living cartoon character.
This or boss sy1?
Tell us whats up with that bass!!!
33:58 sounds like Refused's electronic interludes.
They actually start playing at 5:40
i was sceptical before the oberheim thing. WOW
scrutator throwback with the envelope face
Dope Jazzmaster.
"And i shit in a bin"
It eats that Microsynth up!
NO WAY MY GENE DID THAT!, ITS AN ENZO
I like how you cuss throughout.
14:54 Nick on the guit-box
Yeah, less blab, get to the demo.
The last drum jam does kinda sound like deantoni
Guess we don't need synthesizers anymore.
hella efx on Vato Negro spotify! open.spotify.com/album/1xK4cFH8cjlwLoqr9bNZnR?si=1O1iRCdOTiGW3zfbTcCGzQ
31:31 remided me of Ocarina of Time for some reason
That drum machine bit was the best part. It's like its practically making its own bassline. That sold it for me.
wtf I was laughing at him using the alt button to change the tempo but it actually works for that? lol not sure why but cool I guess
Love the flag!
this SHITS on the SY-1. so mad i bought that fuckin thing. its alright but this blows it out of the water for an extra hundred dollars. enzo arriving tomorrow
Did you get it?..
@@patrickr6505 yeah. SY-1 collecting dust
@@milesholt3655 Ha ok...then it's between the Enzo or the Source Audio C4..Any experience with that pedal?
Totally. The only thing sy1 is good for are the sequence and pattern settings 10 and 11.
Amazing video. Now I have to sell stuff to get one.
It remember me a bit the Boss SY-300 Guitar Synthesizer.
chungón
papa'
for everyone thats going to bitch, music starts at 5:42
Pedals that complicated shouldn't be presented in the usual "let's see what we've got here" type of playing. Better have 10 good settings/sounds ready and then go from one to another and tweak them a bit. Funny pedal though.
ar pay jee ay ter
I think my phone speakers aren't doing this thing justice.
@Jack Mitchell man I'm watching this now to get ready for the new Meris release. It's ok, I don't really do root octave shit when I play ever. I'm really wanting some envelope filter action. Can't wait to see what Meris drps this weeeeek!
Not to be like ususus, but USUSUSUSUSUSUSUSUSUSUS.
The mexican flag on the pedals, what is the meaning? See you
If you listen to Nick play in his bands it would make one think his sounds are random like.Evidently not so much. Plus he's a nice guy.I'm impressed.
5:43 (you're welcome)
At 21:50 ... hahaha
so funny
