My God the amount of money in these decks is unbelievable
I remember an episode of Master Chef where they literally burned $250,000 just for the shock and awe.
That episode doesn't hold a candle to the amount of money burned for these decks.

DJ threw the game hard by playing elesh norn when he saw Jimmy had a way to steal it on board
I understand why he did it. With so little options left, it's better to go down with blazing guns than to just do nothing and let my opponent untap and win anyway.
Lady D played weirdly too by exiling Jimmy’s two sorceries gy instead of DJ’s gy with Elesh Norn and more..
yeah he ended the game as soon as he played it. jimmy probably would have died to all of the tokens on lady's next turn
He explained why he did it in the video. Lady had a sac outlet on board in her commander, 11 tokens, a Zulaport Cutthroat in her graveyard, and a way to reanimate it on board.
If he doesn't play Elesh Norn (and Jimmy doesn't exile Prossh with Mangara, which he may not), then Jimmy attacks, suddenly they both die to Lady on her next turn, before it gets back to him. By playing Elesh Norn, it's possible he dies to Jimmy the next turn, but he likely gets 1 more turn, because Jimmy won't want to kill him to keep his board. If Jimmy *does* exile Prossh, then Lady can reanimate the Cutthroat, rendering Elesh Norn a terrible play, and the next turn, recast Prossh and kill them both.
If he doesn't deal with those tokens right then, it's almost impossible to beat Lady. He still lost to Jimmy, but If he'd gotten a Homeward Path or a boardwipe, he still had a chance after the Elesh Norn was stolen.
I think he made the right play.

The moment DJ played Elesh Norn, my immediate thought was: "did he forget about Galina?"
Pretty sure he got short sighted and gave the game away.
He could've held it, but remember Lady Danger had all those tokens. If he did there was a pretty good chance she would've won instead of Jimmy.
@@2good2bu7 it was a bad decision to play Norn, he should let Jimmy taken care of Lady danger by stealing the commander or exiling it, know he just won things instead of loosing things
He was in position to choose who won... Nothing else
DJ is the king maker, he could practically choose who is going to win between jimmy and ladee. He should have made a deal with both of them, and negotiate. Guess DJ is pretty low in political side of the spectrum. Josh would have played Norn much better I think in that situation.

The slowmo laughing was hilarious. I felt bad for him at the time but it was so ridiculous that I was belly laughing when I watched it the first time. My wife thought I was a crazy person when she asked me why I was laughing so hard
The ancient tomb force field activation actually mattered
Its as my group always says: the only lifepoint that matters is the last one, until then its card draw and mana.
Forcefiels also says 'loses life' instead of deals damage. Which means sword of fire and ice shouldnt trigger. They didnt take this into consideration though
@@lucasvermeulen7215 That's just the wording on that card. Because it is such an old card I understand how you see it. It is meant as "prevent all of that damage dealt but 1". So the creature still does deal damage. In later sets they changed it so that there won't be misunderstanding. I.e. Masters Edition or Collectors' Edition.

Ghave is one of my all time favorite commanders. I was hyped to see him here, and then totally disappointed when Josh immediately replaced him. :/

And, instead of giving us that sense of frustration, he gave us a sense of completion. I may be reading too much into it though

I’m 2 years late but this looks like a lot of fun. Having someone outside the game build multiple strong decks and doing a white elephant gift exchange is amazing.

Real talk, though, I'd have used that guilded lotus and Samut's untap trigger to steal Purphuros.
Don´t forget he had to use the Forbidden Orchard, too because Gilded Lotus makes 3 Mana of one color and he needed 1 white and 2 blue.

I think it was ladee dangers decision to not bojuka bog the DJs graveyard when she knew the Elesh norn was in there was the real misplay. Hindsight 20/20 so can't think of everything

This is my favorite episode ever, I've watched it at least 5 times now. I love all the work they put into this.
I like how the fast game play allowed more time for the story. It was cool going deeper on how people were feeling with the flashback and longer reaction shots.

it's hard to consider something deceptively powerful when it has a mountain of abilities like that
I think what he meant by that is that everyone knows that Karador, Prossh and ST are insanely powerful commanders, and tend to helm insanely powerful decks, but Samut doesn't have that kind of reputation. Samut tends to be either "activated abilities matter, but in the three colours that care the least about activated abilities" or "BigStupidGruulThing time", neither of which have the reputation of being particularly powerful.
