  • Flying Jabiru aircraft in episode 4 I have a look at the effect of the control surfaces. We look at the rudder, ailerons and elevator, all of which are necessary to maintain controlled flight in a 3-axis aircraft. This is a look at my Jabiru SP 470, for professional advice I recommend speaking to a CFI (Certified Flying Instructor). Hopefully this helps if you are looking at taking up flying as a hobby. Please feel free to leave a comment or email me with any questions..

Thanks Steve, I have recently bought an SP500 which I believe is identical to your SP470 except the motor size. I am finding your videos very useful!.

Yes spot on, same aircraft different power plant. Keep an eye on the undercarriage legs, as in the bolts where they attach to the fuselage. Originals were a bit small, being an SP it’s probably had them done by now (larger bolts). Also with the park brake on try to rock the plane back and forth to check the top of the leg is not moving where it touches the fuselage. If you have leg fairings you will need to take the top sections of to see this, I know it’s a pain but 1/2 an hour now can save you a world of agony if that leg rotates at the top. This usually happens when braking hard on bitumen. Feel free to email me if this doesn’t make sense.
