Service it, fix the faults and refurbish the wheels. Don't tart it up and you should get a good return on it and appeal to a larger market
Totally agree. It’s not the sort of car to add spacers and modifications to. You really limit the sort of person this kind of car will appeal to by doing bits like that to it.
Service it, sort the wheels, buff the headlights, and maybe get it professionally detailed. Job done

This is an air leak after the turbo but before the inlet manifold/throttle body. Check pipes and joints for tighteness and splits on pipe work or rubber seal inside of each end of each pipe

Diesel Mercs are renowned for playing up if used on short journeys, I have bought a few Gems where the owner thought it would cost a lot of money to repair, when all it needed was a good run and clear out. On the OM642 engine if it happens after 30 miles or so check the O rings on the turbo that has been replaced if the bloke didn't service the vehicle he may of skimped on replacing the O rings, you will see where the oil has seeped and the pressure escapes on the boost pipe from the intercooler to the Turbo, its usually the cold side where the pipe or ring crack or break.
Love the merc I think you've dropped on there .Just the kick you needed and you deserve it for your enthusiasm alone enjoy the journey .I am.

If you get this car inspected I highly recommend checking out the suspension, the old CLS are very heavy and eat through bushings like there’s no tomorrow! The engines on them are pretty solid though

If this is the 3.0 v6 diesel (om642) the most common problem with limp mode would be the electronic actuator for the turbo , way too common of a problem , my e class has the same issue , will get onto doing it soon too

Smashing it mate, keep swapping cars and don’t spend to many episodes on one car, one or two per car then you can keep the series flowing, be at 100k before you know it!
Its nearly always the intercooler endcaps cracking on these mercs that causes the underboost limp mode issues , these and the w203/204s were notorious for it , iv had 4 c320s , every one of them suffers with it at some point ,electronic actuator/boost solenoid for the turbo sits below the cam cover at teh drivers side, leaky cam cover drips onto it and destroys it , also causing sporadic limp mode.
I had a limp mode problem on mine, same as your having with the gears, turned out to be the Maf sensor covered in crap I contact cleaned it then it was good as new
Anyone saying “don’t modify it” must not realise that he clearly enjoys working on these cars as well as the fact that he’s also benefiting from making more videos in this series too.

Welcome to the world of 3 litre 6 cylinder diesels mate. They all pull like trains, especially when on the motorway. I have to say though, nothing pulls like a diesel 3 litre BMW. If you get offered a 330d, 335d, 530d or a 535d, take it. You'll see what I mean.

Right hand side boost hose common problem they split at top I had 2 c320 3l V6 and instant fix check that first 😊

Great swap, sounds like it may be an EGR valve, had the same issue on an ML320 years ago.

Top tip for you start meeting people when swapping that way you know the cars have decent enough to get to where you’ve met 👌

@@JesseCollingham I meant if you meet them half way you’ll know that the car your getting can do a decent drive mate
the reason for the boost pressure is trasjuicers are blocked and can regulate the turbo pressure properly
Don't bother modifying this one, not the right market for it.
Also check everything to do with the install of the new turbo to see if anything has been fitted incorrectly or is lose etc. More than likely an air leak from the new turbo install causing your issues but also could be a damaged sensor etc, so just give it a good check.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I've just purchased a swift sport 2016, and looking to have a custom exhaust fitted, would I just go to a random garage to have this done? Do I need to purchase the exhaust, will a garage do it for me? In the Bolton area, hoping someone can help
Check for splits in the bodywork in the boot for leaks really bad broken coil springs all round and a leaky turbo

If it is the sensor causing limp mode sometimes it will only happen above a certain speed, my old passat did the same but only if i booted it above 65/70

I’ve got an 08 one, had it 4 years. I had the same issue. Turbo actuator fault, also the boost hoses will be cracked , 😂

If i were you i would kept the golf couse those Mercedes have nightmare Renault engines. As an ex mechanic on Mercedes we called them the fish tail couse the rear end goes down in a wierd way. But good luck with that Mercedes.

Commenting mid video, but regardless of whatever the issues are, you actually did it properly this time and got a better car than the golf and your civic for that matter. As long as you don't mod it too much, you might actually swap it for something better.
