    Fellow Kubota operator here! 👋🏼
Just subscribed to the channel! Liked the operator view from inside the cab on this video. Looking forward to more content! 👍🏻 - Samuel

I am just finishing building a shop and expect to get back to the hill when it dries up. Thanks for the sub!

You can swing the cab around when backing up...

Use your boom swing when placing trees down the bank it makes it much easier to turn them.

Thank you! This video was pretty much my first day on the mini-x, I definitely had a lot to learn.

I don't know what happened at 7:53, but it looks like you fell forward out of your seat. A good reason to wear the seatbelt!

      I was, sometimes I feel like it needs a 5 point harness🤣

I was going to mention to you when you're starting to learn how to run that thing it helps if you keep the idle down lower then it won't be so jerky for you I know from experience I was that way about 2 months ago cheers bud😎👍👍🇨🇦

Man your really bouncing yourself around in that excavator lol

This was the first or second day I ever ran an excavator, I do not know if I had the blade down or not, but probably, because it was pretty steep. I've gotten a bit smoother over the 500 or so hours I've put on it since this video.

Nice video, thanks. Although you should work on smoother operation, not just so your $70,000 machine lasts longer, but so watching your videos are smoother to watch ;)

Question. Do you have the blade down when you are digging. This looks terribly uncomfortable. Never seen a machine this rough.

On steep roads I wish mini-x had a dozer blade on both ends.

Do you still think the kx040 was the best choice or do you think the kx057 would have been a better for what you are doing? I keep going back and forth on which one I want to get.

    • @DerekMcElwee
      @DerekMcElwee  Před 3 lety +1

I think for what I am doing a bigger one would be faster. I chose the 040 because I am going to be using it to make mountain bike trails after I am done with this road. I needed a smaller footprint for that and that is where I am using it the most. Even for cutting this road the 040 has out performed what I thought it would do. It is a pretty incredible machine.

I have a 2018 040. The machine will do so much more than you would ever think a machine this size will do. It’s simply an amazing machine. The thing that sold me was the 6 way blade. I live in the Pacific Northwest where we have good size tree stumps. I have not found one yet that I can’t dig out. This machine is an absolute beast. 057 is overkill for most people.

@@Californians_go_home The more time I get on it, the more it impresses me. It is super useful at digging trees up and pushing them over. Much easier than cutting the tree and then digging up the stump. Mine has a 4way blade, my dealer did not tell me about the 6 way blade when I was shopping. I really wish I had the 6 way blade!

@@DerekMcElwee I agree. I’ve been able to push some really good size trees over. If I put the blade behind me, I can use it as additional leverage for extra push. The six way blade has made it extremely easy to grade and not have to reposition, also the ability to level the machine out on uneven ground. You can start a cut at an angle and level out an area very quickly. The other positive about the 040 over the 057 is the ability to load it into a 14k dump trailer. It fits perfect. 6 way blade adds a little extra weight. I love this machine. Not too big for small jobs and not too little for bigger jobs. Most people I see posting think it will not be big enough. The trees I can pick up, the large boulders I can place and the diameter stumps I can dig up and load are no match. You don’t need the extra 2000 pounds of the bigger machine. Enjoy it. You can’t keep me off mine.

@@Californians_go_home I've started milling my trees on a small scale, but having that thumb makes moving the logs around a snap. Sounds like we both made a good purchase!

Looks very uncomfortable bouncing around like that

It isn't that bad, the camera angle exaggerates it. Air ride seat too
