- Today I’m traveling 24 Hours & 10,000 Miles from Los Angeles, California to Cape Town, South Africa, with a layover in Atlanta! 🇺🇸✈️🇿🇦
I’ve flown between the US and South Africa by myself a few times over the years, but never this route and never on Delta - So this particular experience will be new for me 😊 Since it’s a long-haul flight, I decided to pay the additional $200 to upgrade from Delta’s Economy to Delta’s Comfort Plus, hoping it would make this trip somewhat more comfortable 😅
But the best part of this flight? Reuniting with Matteo after 4.5 months apart!!! 🥺😭❤️

It blows my mind each time I see the Delta aircraft parked at CTIA that an aircraft of that size flew nearly 16 hours to get there.
I loved seeing what the Atlanta departure looks like.

The dog sniffing and partnering up with somebody is the same thing with tsa at JFK!!! me and my friends had to do that and I was like is this a new thing I’ve never had to do this before lol

Great video! I was in Cape Town 3 weeks ago. I also went to that lounge in Atlanta a couple of times last October, definitely overcrowded. You can also use Minute Suites free for an hour with Priority Pass/LoungeKey. Pretty crazy that for a 15 hour flight you only get 2 small meals. I like Delta but their meals are far too small. I hope there was a snack bar at the back of the plane. And I think everyone gets those little amenity kits, although on my long haul economy flights I’ve had with them from Barcelona and Stockholm to New York I only got the eye mask and earplugs. Maybe you get the toothbrush and toothpaste on longer flights. Great view of Table Mountain and the sunset as you landed.
The key to airport security is to “listen with a receptive ear!” Don’t worry about last time or what the other person is doing! TSA changes procedures based on crowds, city etc. They will advise you on what to do. Nobody wants to touch you, so don’t make it hard! Just listen! For some folks that’s hard to do! Enjoy!

That Club at ATL lounge in concourse F is a very underwhelming lounge. I was there in January and it seems like it hasn’t gotten by better since then. I opted for the Delta Sky Club when I connected through ATL 2 weeks ago. Also crazy full but definitely better food offerings.

The ATL airport isn't to bad just busy, however if you have to go through TSA, it does give you pause on human behavior. I am not sure if they require them to act beastly or is there a lack of training.
My brother is a TSA agent. If they have the dogs out in the lines before security, you don’t need to take your shoes off and electronics out because they are already sniffing for banned substance.

Well the Dogs came out in March went I went to San Fran and I still had to do both 🤷♂️

Was this in 2023? How could you stand to be apart over 4 months? We hate going thru Atlanta, especially coming back from Europe and going thru customs. Cookies in lounge caught my eye too. Blondie looked good. Glad you had a good trip.
Thanks grandma Bev! ❤️ Yes this was in July 2023, and I know, it was very difficult to be apart for so long 😭 That's good to know about coming back through Atlanta from overseas - I hate going through customs in the states when it's not my final destination, it always adds so much chaos to the trip 😂

Flew the same route a coupla months ago. Same airline. Delta is probably my worst international trip.
Get Global Entry to get expedited customs and tsa precheck thrown in for 5 years
Many planes are designed to be able to survive a lightning strike.
Why do use your knuckles instead of fingers ? is it like a sanitary thing ?
