I enjoyed your video very much. For me, I have always just loved so much to ride motorcycles. I have been riding for 53 years. Yup, I am an old fellow of 69 years. I had a serious deer/motorcycle collision in 2014 with resulting brain injury. It could have gone either way but thanks to a miracle, given me by GOD, I recovered almost completely, losing just a little function in my left arm. Due to the brain injury I do not remember any of the month of June, 2014. So really GOD saved me from suffering thru all of the pain of the accident. So once 2015 rolled around I went back to riding my motorcycles. I am a really moderate rider, perhaps, simply because I have that knowledge in the back of my mind at all times. It is not because I am fearful, it is more that I am never in a hurry because riding is right where I love to be, so why hurry? I suppose the moderate speed also has to do with the fact that I am retired and am just enjoying life. Oh, my wife also trusts me again and we have taken road trips of up to 1100 miles together, the most recent being in 2018. So, yeah, anyway, I just love that feeling of moving down the road, either in a car or better yet, on a motorcycle. I'll check out your other videos too. Oh, having had a brain injury changes people's personalities. For me, I am much more outspoken than I was in the past, and I pass out compliments often. Not only did I enjoy hearing what you had to say in your video, I also enjoying seeing you in the video. You are a very pretty young lady.

When I first started riding years ago the constant thought of wiping out and getting killed was very scary but sobering. It taught me to never be complacent or cocky. More importantly it made me very aware or my mortality and how each ride could be my last as well as my last day of life. I soon learned to embrace each day moment and person with all my attention and emotion. I learned to live in the moment mindfully and gratefully. I continue to ride commuting to work each day through every season (ATGATT) and fun weekend rides with a friend or just errands around town. It has made me a better person. I’m more grounded peaceful and happy. Even when I’m not riding I daydream for a few seconds in my happy place and I come back to the present relaxed and content. Find your Zen!

Yes motorcyclist may be vulnerable...But small size also means don't need much space to escape...God of acceleration lives in right hand...excellent visibility...can improve conspicuity...stay away from trucks...do not stay behind ANYTHING you cannot see..over..around.. or thru...laws of physics count...laws of land are secondary...do not tolerate bad scenarios....change timing...be aware of danger spots in local traffic patterns...after 12 midnight..everyone on road is a drunk or a LEO!.. CONSTANTLY evaluate traffic composition...aggressively protect self...WHEN CHALLENGED share your logic with LEO..ex. not speeding --surviving...5mph faster than flow of traffic cuts down threats from behind...head lite modulator excellent idea...headline on bright in daytime riders under represented in accident data...
There are many many policies/ rules you can implement that can increase your riding security...deer whistles really work and are inexpensive...rider gear can change consequences.
Be assertive...protect your self...ride well..ride long see you on the road..

I take care of our three dogs and am on the road by 4:30 AM latest onward for a 1 hour 15 minute commute. Possibly the best part of my day occurs when I roll my Goldwing out of the hanger, (Garage 🌞) do a last minute walk around on the bike, wear full protective gear and finally pull on the gloves and clench my hands. It’s my time to ride. My life has seen many careers from military air evac, to 25 years in healthcare, and now as a Quality Assurance Tech working in the lab and on the production floor for a Honda supplier. Yes it’s a good job, but what I’ve really come to enjoy is working with the “young folks”. I love working along side the “kids” it helps to keep me young, it helps me to look back and smile and be proud of all I’ve accomplished in my life. I could have never of known what that would look like if I had not of made the effort to live every day the best I possibly could. My bike was a 60th Birthday present from my wife. To love someone is to learn the song in their heart so that they can sing it to you when you forget. My wife knows my passions. My time on the bike, 2 1/2 hours every day is where this introvert recharges, thinks about life, and remembers, “I Get To.....Be Happy. Congratulations on your engagement. Enjoy it all, because before you know it, if your fortunate enough you’ll be 61 and still riding a motorcycle. 🌞

Since then relationships have fit into exactly what you describe. Not because it didn't bring me happiness but because the person I chose to share it with became uninterested in the lifestyle in that same time frame. The one thing I will say though, is that motorcycles are a great *TOOL* to get some distance to work out how you really feel about things. That distance and perspective normally reveals that most problems are pretty trivial and it becomes a little clearer about how to fix it or work them out.
But emphasis on the Tool. My bikes are not the source of happiness (lol actually half the time it's part of the trouble XD) but they are a tool I use to problem solve, travel, see new places, and keep myself grounded and grateful for the life that I do have.

Motorcycles and riding motorcycles have made me very happy. I am about to turn 65. I started riding at age 8, on a small dirt bike. I got my motorcycle license on my 16th birthday. I had already bought and fixed up a 1972 Suzuki GT380, and had practiced riding it. I have since owned 47 motorcycles (everything except crotch rockets) and ridden over a million miles. I enjoyed every one of them. I was a mechanic for 37 years, and I loved working on and tinkering with motorcycles as much as riding them. I've had a lot of close calls, but have never crashed. Probably my biggest problem with motorcycles was flat tires. I finally learned to stay away from motorcycles with tube type tires, which pretty much solved that problem. A flat tire on a motorcycle with tube type tires means a tow truck, and usually turns into an expensive nightmare. I once spent almost $1000 because of a flat tube type tire. Towing charges, a 2 day motel stay, and a $400 bill from a dealer who knew I was stranded for replacing the tire and tube. Plus I missed two days work. Less than a week later that bike was gone. No more tubes. Yes, motorcycles and motorcycle riding have their problems. Some common sense can prevent a lot of them. I currently own 5 motorcycles. They are all older, carbureted, but in great condition. The saddest thing about motorcycles now is that there is not a single new motorcycle I want. Seems they are all flat black computers on wheels anymore. The days of real motorcycles seems to be over. I'm glad that I hung onto my collection. It's hard for me to imagine a life without riding motorcycles. My life would have been miserable without motorcycles.

:(. I wish I could let go, I was sick (hospital-sick) for a long time, and right out of remission, I met a guy that was really sweet and fell in love over heels. He left to California following his dream, but kept in touch with me for 5 months. When we would talk, he mentioned many times how much opportunity there was in CA. So against my family’s wishes, I moved to CA to be with him. Time went by and he changed drastically, he slept with another woman, so I left him a letter saying goodbye and thanking him for breaking my heart. I wanted to get a motorcycle to find a distraction and stand my heart-break, but I've been following you for quite some time now and you are advising people not to get a motorcycle for the same reason I want to get one. The guy texted me many more times telling me he appreciates everything I did for him (cause I’ve always been nice, like too nice, the type of nice that would cook for him anything he wanted) and he wanted me back (but he never said sorry for being so mean and for the cheating part). Do you still think is a bad idea if I get a motorcycle? I have a job “I’m an engineer”, and my family still disapproves the way I left, I’m literally alone in this state and I want to find a hobby so I can really move on (even before I moved here, I always had a dream of getting a motorcycle). I’m sorry for bothering you this way, thank you for your videos, they’ve helped out a lot!

But GIRL if you want to throw a motorcycle in the mix, I did and I’ve had a blast with it! And it’s opened me to meet so many cool people and great opportunities!! And I’m glad I also focused on my family, mental health, in addition to the fun stuff.

It's how we are taking care of ourselves in so many areas of life. The motorcycles definitely keep me sane, providing a release from all the other BS that life throws at you. When I'm on the bike it's just me, the machine and the trail/road, nothing else intrudes into that space. It's pure focus. Any unhappiness I had before the ride evaporates. Nothing makes me feel more alive.

Good video 'Doodle'. And so true about things that "bring" happiness to our lives. The greatest source of happiness in our lives, without exception, is the face staring back at you each morning when you look into the mirror. Be at peace with yourself and everything else will follow.
I have found over 47 years of riding that that when you are riding a motorcycle, bike, surfboard (not me) you are living in the now. Each moment as it comes to you without thought of anything other than the next corner or two or the next bit of road or how to set up and execute a perfect set of S's. This allows our minds to relax from the stresses and strains of everyday life and experience the moment as it unfolds. And if that is your definition of happiness then go for it.
For me it provides a means of realising that I am a simple entity in an incredible universe and that whilst I am as insignificant as a grain of dust, my every thought and action changes the whole cosmos. And this helps give me peace of mind and contentment. And when I'm not riding for any length of time my darling wife and family tell me to "go for a ride" because I apparently get grouchy and become unbearable to live with. Go figure!!

Totally agree But ... got my first bike aged 17 in 1971, 3 month old CB250 , there were 8 for sale all used by out riders in a national 2 week cycle race called British Milk race, bit like tour du France. I've had 9 bikes in my life and many other material things, now almost 67 years, but nothing ever came anywhere close to my awesome Honda cb250.
That feeling of excitement when I was starting it , the amazement when it took me camping in Scotland, it changed my life and I will never forget that bike.

    I ride for two reasons.
    1) I enjoy the feeling - the lean, the acceleration, the sound, the scenery, the quiet twisty back roads.
    2) I appreciate and enjoy the challenge of operating a motorcycle - smooth shifts up and down, having to use both hands and both feet, slow speed maneuvers, proper gear selection, working the clutch, knowing your bike, wrenching
For me, riding is not an escape or a stress reliever. It's simply something that feels good, and I'm thankful that I have the ability to do it. Not everyone can.

I hate cleaning chain so much that I started developing belt drive for my bike.
I'm riding since 13 yo (so it's for 22 years now) and the same bike since 2003, Suzuki GSF 600S Bandit. Yes, sometime it's not perfect, but there are these moments when you forget the whole world and just enjoying the ride even on the daily travel to work and back home. I remember, it's every spring when I take the bike out for the frist ride, It's like I forget over the winter what it's like and I'm not so excited, but then I sit on it, take firts ride and I'm always so amazed how joyfull and liberating it is, every time, with the same bike, for over all these years and it still surprising me.

People ride to escape-the feeling and sense of freedom it brings with just the open air and surrounds around you. The other reason used to be that it was a cheap & economical way to travel. Today I think some bikes have become too heavy-too complicated, as well as expensive to maintain. Keep it simple. Stick to the service intervals and the key is that you shouldn't have to put oil in, between services, especially a new bike. This can be the result of going too far past the required service with the recommended oil or you've thrashed it.

Sure there are days where I’m like meh don’t feel like riding but then there’s times like this, where it snows for a week, and when I finally get back on that bike I’m like this is it, this is what I love. One of the things I've learned about happiness is that you have to find a way to convince yourself that you're always winning. Of course we can't climb Mount Everest everyday but we can celebrate small victories and being grateful for everything. For me riding my bike is a celebration of being able to get from one place to another in a way that is exciting and fun. I also have a GPS which allows me to just follow the road and if I get tired of being lost, I just tell the GPS to guide me home. Another aspect is just to be able to go thataway and if I get tired or find something interesting I can park my bike rent a motel room for $80 bucks, get a nice shower, drift off to sleep and do it again before I have to be back at work on Monday. I believe that every person is born with a desire for excitement, exploration and wonder and if we don't feed it, we die a little inside. See you out there. Ride safe.

I appreciate your openness & honesty. By the way, you're attractive as well. I've owned 4 bikes in my life so far, and after the first bike, a 1967 BSA 650 Lightning, I was so bit by the bug that if I did not have a bike, I wanted one. Even if I didn't ride it, I wanted it in my garage. Now at 71 ... having a 2010 Triumph Speedmaster and getting back to riding it, I am finally watching videos about safe riding ... trail braking, etc techniques to keep me safe. Thanks for this video. God bless you

What makes me keep this bike is the fact that I've learned to challenge myself with it by doin my own extensive upgrades and also testing my craftsmanship by taking it to the track and further developing my skills as a rider. Any machine, however u choose to look at it, can be an extension of urself. Its up to u to use it as a tool to refine who u really are as a person
