My recommendation for a commercial fig variety?
The easy commercial choice is Moro de Caneva, Moro de Caneva & Moro de Caneva. They are medium in size, easy to harvest, hold up to handling, and perform well even in humid places. In a humid place, I see no reason to grow anything else yet for commercial purposes.

I don’t even worry about picking my fico secco if it rains. I leave them out in the rain and they still ripen and don’t spoil! Such a great fig

Even if I didn't already know that you're from Philly I would have figured it out as soon as you said "are basically done their crop." I bet you say "This broken thing needs fixed" too lol. Grammer pet peeves aside, nice figs!

Yay! I'm so glad to have found your channel! Moro de Caneva looks like a great variety. I'm hoping to grow figs soon, but it may be a little late this season.

Thanks Ross! Based on your recommendations, I have one in the ground and I put it in a protected leanto greenhouse. I also have a Campaniere I got from you in ground and heavily protected in Zone 6a/b Cincinnati. I'll be doing a video when I unwrap it! I added Del Cor and Ham Rham and am giving away extra cuttings right now on my channel! Bill likes those two varieties, so they gotta be good.

It's Ross's fault I bought Moro di Ceneva. Everything he said is true. 😊

Love your stretch mark indicators of ripeness….where did you locate them…?

You mentioned 2 out of the 3 figs that I've had in my limited experience. I thought Black Mission was just bad, being bland, sour and seedy. Brown Turkey was very good, sweet and smooth but still lacking much flavor, and the thrid one I've tried is Texas Everbearing which is similar to Brown Turkey but with even less flavor.

Great tip, however, Moro de Caneva is quite hard to get here in Europe, unless it has some kind of synonym, but I didn't really saw it circulate in Europe. Smith is the same thing, basically impossible to get it in Europe.

Yeah. It's a synonym of Violette de Bordeaux: www.figboss.com/post/violette-de-bordeaux
