Lucy, THANKS A LOT for all the videos, they've helped me all the way from the first screening to smash two more interviews and then get an offer letter and then for the medical AND the C1D visa ( the interview lasted about four minutes and the officer told me it's approved and I got it delivered home in after like two days ) . thanks again for ALL the tips, keep up the good work :D and hey good luck on ur contract sailor !

You should also print off your vaccination proof. If you go into the NHS app and click vaccine passport for travel then it'll come up with QR codes and then at the bottom it'll say something like "download PDF version". I do this whenever I'm travelling so you don't have to rely on wifi

First contract as a Sous Chef (the first female on ever for POA), I join the ship on 03/03/2022 in Portland. Pride of America (NCL) will leave Portland for Hawaii mid March, and get our first guests in early April. I am really nervous to read my contract, as communication has been terrible from my many handlers (I am sure mostly COVID related) and I have no idea what has changed in the five months since I signed my provisional contract.

@@morganbaldwin4828 yes, it is very chaotic right now. Staffing is really hard. But I had a blast. I was scheduled to work 4.5 months, but I was extended and ended up working almost 6 months.
It will all mostly make sense when you get on the ship. Just hang in there. Everyone freaks out the first few weeks, but then it all comes together:

@@morganbaldwin4828 I spent a lot of time on Maui and Kauai (the overnights are easier). I never got off on Kona or Hilo, but the sous chefs work more than most on the ship. Most of my staff was able to see all the ports. It depends on which department you work
@@chefslog2970 I am working as a servers assistant so I don’t expect to get much time off as others since I am sure I’ll spend a good portion of my time being trained and wanting to learn how things roll on my first contract. I really appreciate you answering as well!

Do you recommend getting travel insurance to cover the whole contract? My son is based in the UK but is about to join RCCL in Miami, he'll be away for 13 months. I can see that RCCL cover some medical stuff, but we're wondering if you think baggage/gadget only is enough, or whether he needs something more comprehensive in case he gets injured while ashore!? What do people normally do? TIA!!
You can download from the NHS website a printable copy of the Covid inoculation record, this is everybit as good as the APP, and unlike the APP cannot fail at the crucial moment! ( you are correct the little card you get when being vaccinated is meaningless for travel.

Hello! Do they pay for your flight? Ex. working for Steiner you are under Steiner policies or the Cruise Ship that you are on board policies regarding air ticket? Any business class as a gratification? lol kidding
Is it worth all the extra costs for hotels for the night before you meet up with your ship and taxis to get from point A to point B? Would you even make enough?
Where have you traveled in your time of 6 ships, what makes u return and overall is it enjoyable experience or very tiring and stressful x

I personally start at 10am and finish at 11pm. I get 1 hr for lunch and 1 hr for dinner.

My dad mentioned I should do it 2017. It is something I have thought of since then. Im working on my TWIC and US merchant mariner credential now. Thinking about water purification aboard cruise ships. Based on what I have read it sounds like that work is contracted out to the companies that install them.
