- How to hunt goats on Oahu - Here's a video for everyone wondering how to go hunting in Hawaii. We'll go on an archery adventure in the Makua Kea'au hunting area on the West Side of Oahu and chase goats way up in the clouds. This video was made for those wondering how to get after those goats and for all the fellow outdoors folks around the world that just love hunting and fishing. Unfortunately, not back out there. Filmed this hunt a while back and had it on the hard drive waiting to be edited. Finally got around to it. Definitely miss hunting out there.

Hey dude! Killer video. I am moving to Oahu in July and I can’t seem to find any info on the upland game out there other than the species. Is there a particular zone that’s ideal for shotgun upland hunting? I’ve also never hunted goats/pigs, so I look forward to that.
Thanks for the comment. There are birds in both of the public areas in the northwest part of Oahu. The DLNR regs discuss all the bird stuff. There are francolins, doves, and pheasants...maybe chukar too. The other islands have birds too. Lots of turkeys on big island!
@@letsrolloutdoors awesome! I saw your other video of your daughter and you on that treacherous 4WD road. Are there any easily accessible roads for upland hunting on Oahu? Or are most of them like that road in your video?
@@HeadHonchoPigLoc you can get in those areas a little with 2wd and there's always 2 foot drive :) there are parking areas to walk in from.

Recently moved out here and went and tried this hunt today. How'd you get through all the grass?! Do you have a suggested route up there? I was so close to being able to climb that ridge but the grass was so thick and about 7' tall. It was like being in a corn maze. Had to turn back and just glassed from the first/lower ridge and didn't see any. Really cool area, but certainly a tough hike!
Well, it's been a few years since I've been there but there was a trail along the ridge to the right leading up the mountain. You can also follow that creek bottom where you sign in until you find a trail then just work your way into the area. To the left you can follow the road until you get way in where an old creek bottom crosses. Then just keep heading in along the crest of the ridge. It's a lot of walking but a lot of fun. Be careful and good luck.
My buddy and I broke trail through the California grass, butt kicker hunt but fun.

I'm moving to Hawaii in a month and hearing about the hunting there makes me excited! Are you only able to do archery on Oahu?
No, you can gun hunt a few different area. The goat area and a few other public land spots have gun seasons. Also if you get lucky and find someone with some private land you may be able to use firearms. Archery gives you a lot more options around the island though. There's also game bird hunting on Oahu and lots of gun hunting opportunities on other islands.
I brought my guns and hunted birds and pigs, harvested an axis deer on Molokai with a rifle, but had more opportunities to hunt using archery gear.

As a safety thing. I carry a smoke grenade with me. I also send my location to my friends every hour

Yes. There are seasons for gun and bow

@@clintonlambert6924 Hunting is great out there. Try to get on a deer hunt on Lanai or Molokai. Lots of hunts on the Big Island too. But Oahu has pigs, goats, and some decent bird hunting.

This spot is a workout hunt spot and gotta have dedication. Any local braddahs going help out at this spot since its nuts, but fun.
