Emoni needs to learn to change his speeds better. And change change directions when getting past his man. He relies too heavily on running past his defender without any change of speed/direction. And that won't work when the defense gets better.

So glad that I went to this game! It looked like Lincoln was going to run away with it early. Things got really interesting in the second quarter and for the rest of the game! Bates was as advertised...but felt that he was pressing at times in the first half especially from 3.

3 things I'm noticing about Emoni Bates: 1st, he's very talented, offensively. He can drive it, shoot the 3, and seems to have very good floor vision. He also looks like a willing passer. Seeing as how he's only 15 or 16 years old, he still has time to develop a post-game and put some weight on his rail-thin frame. 2nd, he doesn't impact the game that much defensively. At 6'9" you would hope that he'd be more of a force on D at the high school level. Again, he's only 15 or 16 so there's still time for him to develop. 3rd, he SEEMS to have a serious attitude problem. In ALL of the videos I've seen of him SO FAR, he's talking and mean-mugging too much. He's 6'9" and looks like about 150 lbs. soaking wet, with a babyface. He's not going to intimidate ANYONE from a physical standpoint. He should let his game do his talking, and his game talks very loud! There's a difference between intensity and attitude. This looks like attitude to me. No doubt, this kid is a monster. He just needs to clean up some of his antics and continue to develop his game. His future could be extremely bright!
