      @@theanswer1993 it's a fair point, that's why i wish they'd make more models like the B-Class, Active tourer & Golf Plus, i know the 'van' or high-hatch is not "trendy" like an SUV but they have better use interior space for the same size exterior footprint of an SUV plus better visibility as SUVs tend to have more blind points particularly when parking and less weight - no wonder regulators feel the need to force safety systems on us.

    It appeals to me. I drove a hire 2023 one and it did fine, not as premium as a BMW but done the job but happy to have a ride that was smooth (normal) unlike a BMW which aren't good on UK roads. But really in this i wish it had some other control for the infotainment when driving rather than just predominantly the touch-screen (whose GUI looks very similar to BMW iDrive 8..., are all automakers sourcing from the same bin more than ever since pandemic?). Still high-gloss black on interior and _still_ glossy key which is daft. I like the idea of a _liftback_ much better usability than a sedan-type boot, but if it's still the same length than the estate, tough choice...
    As for the leather steering wheel, yes to have an option for non-animal is fine, but personally after experiencing some of the newer non-animal materials (BMW Sensatec) it feels very "synthetic" and doesn't deal with sweaty hands well - in fact it brings-on my dermatitis! I can understand leathering a whole car's interior could entail sourcing from less reputable places, but meat production is still a thing even with the current trend to move away from it so to waste all of some of the by-products out of some moral sensitivity doesn't seem sustainable or moral either. Having only small parts use leather should still use some animal by-products yet still reduce demand by not having larger items covered - it's not "leather is wrong" more like responsible sourcing is needed, like any material/resource be it leather, lithium, colbalt, oil, etc.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 13 dny

      hey, in which vehicle did you actually already experience the BMW animal free steering wheel? Only car that has it yet is the base BMW 5 Series

    • @rimmerblues1586
      @rimmerblues1586 Před 12 dny

      @@autogefuehl 128ti (and i believe all current 1-series) now have a Sensatec steering wheel instead of true leather, since maybe 2023 or even 2022?? The June-build 2023 last-gen X2 F39 Sport also had a Sensatec wheel, my 2018 F45 Active Tourer SE had the same style steering wheel but in real leather and you _can_ feel the difference. In my experience; at first the Sensatec has a soft-touch-like feel but soon after it feels _synthetic_ (even though even real patterned leather is treated) and also is more slippery and sweaty, but does feel warmer in winter. With the fatter F40 1-series M-sport Sensatec wheel it's actually given dermatitis :-( Yes, u can get used to the material but once you try the earlier builds of same models with proper leather you see what you're missing.

      is it as quiet as the A6? Of course not but that the 40k EUR delta.
      My wife did comment how it got a bit louder on our last trip, by which we were doing 180-190. If you're doing 30k a year on unrestricted highways then I can see the argument but for 'regular' use it's perfectly quiet and without the cheap and tacky piano blacks and tesla-style TVs VW now shoves into everything.

      @@autogefuehl Its kinda hard to extract the real life noise that you feel when you are in the cabin (recording equipment, headphones, sound settings, etc..., a lot of factors) buut it seems now, when i did a side by side comparison with same sound settings on my end that Octavia is noticeably quieter or am i mistaken? But taking into consideration your descriptions one could say that you consider Civic quieter but maybe you just said that regarding the car class.
      Also Octavia has option for additional acoustic front windows isolation so that might help and be an additional plus :)
