Nice historical automotive film. My wife had one left over from bought new in college. She paid $50 a month. No air conditioning. So it should have had a wind wing like the old VW Beetle. I used to manually adjust her Excel's valves. Around 65,000 miles the Korean rubber engine seals began to leak. A Huyndai service manager confided at that about that mileage "They all do." It's a great retro review back from when Motor Week did them on cars Americans actually wanted and could afford. Thanks for the memories.
I think about the biggie line where he talks about buying a woman an excel. I’m pretty sure it just rhymes and that’s why he said it. But if it’s true Big cheap as hell bruh
For the US yes... Automatics had less gears, worse reliability, consumption and performance. Also a higher price, but its a crucial part in dumbing down the nation.
When they were comparing to the Corolla they showed a picture of a Tercel. Oops.
This lamb could not unsee it.
And the tercel was a coup too.

The mother of a friend of mine used to drive one back then.

Humble Hyundai
I see a Beatles cassette in the storage bin!
Excellent car for $6,000
I owned one....paid it off and the rear main seal blew .....traded it in in
wow
I don’t think these lasted very long in the rust belt
The design has improved but not the reliability or resale.
Great and nice car

Props to Koreans 👏
They should have tested it with an automatic transmission; manual transmissions are in the minority.
That's only because most idiots don't know how to operate them

@@frog382 Great and nice car
At the time this was recorded, manual transmissions were still very common in the United States.
