    So when you’re mixing on the IN-8’s you’re within 1 meter from the speaker cones? That setup looks pretty close in but it’s a hard to tell actual distances from the video. I just bought a pair that I’m waiting on for delivery, but I have similar space issues including having to put them above me and slant them down to fit my desk. Probably about 4ft apart - not ideal, but I will have around 4ft distance from speakers for mixing and 6-7 feet for recording... Can you listen to them at lower volume levels and still get the full frequency range that close in? Or do they need to be turned up a bit to get the full range?

    • @producerbenford
      @producerbenford  Před 4 lety +2

      Bryan R Thompson yes it’s two close to mix on with out hours of listening to train my ears to the set up. I have a bigger studio in storage and as soon as this COVID stuff relaxes enough to move into my new home I’ll have the real set up with the proper spacing. They are still very detailed event at the close distance.

      @MrMoviePhoneEx Před 3 lety

      @@Le_volver I did! Love them, though in my setup you can hear a low constant hiss if you keep each speaker at their 0 point. I’m sitting in basically a 1 meter triangle so I turn them down and the hiss is barely there. Amazing sound stage, great range for film score work... took me a little while to get used to the size though :)

    Is the 8 better than the 5 in sound quality?

    • @producerbenford
      @producerbenford  Před rokem +1

      Depends on your room. If you have a smallish room. 100-160 SQ-FT. The 5s will be just fine and reproduce sound accurately. If you have a largish room then the eights will suit you better. Note: Though the sound reproduction is relative to the listening position and the room; ensuring that both the 5s and 8s work well if they are spaced and placed as instructed on the included @KaliAudio literature.

      @JonnyParker- Před 3 lety

      @@Gamez4eveR yeah i mean most monitors are aimed at a flat response for music production and mix/mastering , yeah youre gonna have some that are slightly more bass heavy but generally if youre a bass head and not a producer or wanting to listen analytically most people go for a preferred passive setup and get everything proper dialed in for their own colour preference and it will make a pretty big difference when you hear some unreal floor standing speakers with a vintage Sony amp or old pioneer amp just thumping that low end out and the soft mid cones etc its a whole different thing to sitting chilling with monitors .

    I can hear the hiss from 7 feet aware or so in my living room, even with my fridge running in my kitchen.These scored really well on Audio Science Review, and I really liked what I heard when I had a pair... But 2 months later I ended up putting $5000 into another set due to the hiss and wanting more bass extension. Excellent value for the money though if you can ignore that. Would have been great for a 5.1 system with their sub, and all for under $3000 or so.
    Can't wait for a 2.0 version of this. Excellent value and great port design, but that hiss is the loudest I've heard from any set of speakers. If you've heard JBL LSR3 series speakers, these seem to approach twice as much hiss. (6-10dB would be my guess.)

      You're really paying for the 3-way feature. Kali audio also has an 8-inch monitor for $500 (per pair!) without the 3-way design.

    • @stevenswall
      @stevenswall Před 4 lety

      Compare this to anything else you can find that has a coaxial mid/tweeter and a separate woofer. The KEF R3, Elac Navis, KEF R300, and Genelec "The Ones" are all significantly more expensive at 2.5 to 10x the price.
      While I think the Adam T series can be a good value and have built speakers with a ribbon tweeter, there is a reason why I don't buy non-coaxial speakers anymore. (Currently have a Kali IN-8 the company sent me after they lowered and softened the hiss a touch, and a Genelec 8260 that has the bass extension I want without a sub and less hiss.)

    • @LaidbackSounds
      @LaidbackSounds Před 4 lety +1

      Adam TV serie is really bad though, just saying. I used to have the TV7 really overrated speakers when you know your frequencies, its super high i totally agree but the rest is super scooped.

    • @Gamez4eveR
      @Gamez4eveR Před 3 lety

      Adam T series are just fine. They don't beat the Yamaha HS series. The Kali LP series actually compete very competently with the HS.

  • @bassiclogic

    The Hiss Masters! An $800.00 pair of speakers should not have any noise when powered up! My Mackie MR524's and HR824's have no noise. Kali Audio states that they have that noise to keep the cost down? My Mackie MR524' only cost $340.00 and have no noise when powered up! That's a line of BS that they can not produce a speaker for that price with out a noise filter that virtually cost nothing. Capacitors cost pennies!
