Kenshi seems to be the standout on the roster so far. He's one of my favorite fighting game characters so its cool to see him get so much love.
I think flashier god liu kang is also a pretty amazing glow-up. Sub is fine, but he's basically sub as he usually is obviously modified for this game. Kitana I haven't seen much but seems the most tame.
No it's just the only character Sonic Fox has used a lot so far. He's starting to use Johnny Cage I'm sure everyone will say the same about him soon

Kenshi always dazzles with style in every game he appears, I'm glad to see him back with so many new things.
Also, it's surprising the extensive and flashy combos he can do by himself.
They'll definitely increase the movement the question is if it will be a minimal difference like mk11 or substantial difference like people want. I feel like these awesome combos deserve a fast game
It would be very questionable for them to not do *something* about it after pretty much everyone has had the same complaints. They seemed to have their ears open from what Max said they were saying during the in-person preview so hear's hoping.
The problem with increasing the movement speed too much will force the developers to reprogram every character's moveset.
Because if you can walk faster you can cover more distance between the time an opponent is launched and the time they hit the ground. So now intstead o certain combo starters whiffing you can just get closer so they don't whiff

To be fair, Liu Kang made Outworld look like Edenia to make her ex happy. That's why there are no massive piles of skulls or fountains of screaming souls everywhere.
I'd be shocked if there aren't some horror stages eventually. We know Shang Tsung is somewhere, so that somewhere will likely be creepy.
I'm wondering if Lu doesn't have a Netherrealm in his timeline and Shang Tsung is gonna bring NR from other timelines to change that.
i usually don't like to watch MK, i find a bit boring. But man...i love to watch MK 1 so far! I hope they listen the criticism and improve the movement and the Kameo lock down animations!
For something that you'll end up seeing over and over again, that Sonya grab assist is way too goddamn long.
MK has had relatively long cinematic attacks for years. THey're not likely to go anywhere now. It's part of the series. Also there are presumably going to be WAY more kameos, so it won't be nearly as egregious to keep seeing that one specifically once more are available.

Man those Kameo grabs get old SO fast. Takes ages to get back to playing, they could easily cut their animations by half.
That's kind of been the trend for NRS for a long time now. Style over substance. The fatal blow system really slows the fighting down to satisfy the blood thirsty masses and the kameo moves slow it down even further

Yeah I think the biggest problem is how much the game takes to continue after the combo, like look at Kano slowly getting out and you’re forced to see that every throw, the game should continue the moment he finishes the head smash tbh

Kenshi is tricky as hell to use right but if you do get him down, he is monstrous. I've seen people do 50% meterless combos with him, it is insane.
To those complaining about the kameo grabs being too long, I'm with you! I sat here and timed how long the grabs are.
Sonya: 3.045 seconds long upon entering the scene.
Kano: whopping 4.236 seconds long do to his slow exit off screen!
I know NRS wants everything to LOOK cool, but the slow movement and long animations can be very...jarring.
If they prioritize presentation over gameplay and fun, then they should just stick to making films.

while I could see them getting sped up, MK has always had long cinematic attacks from fatalities to complex throws to X-rays. It's part of how the series works.

Kenshi was great in MK Deception when you could whip out weapons with the weapon stances.
A huge shame NRS never bothered to bring back 3 stances per character, that was next level.

It seems to go dark and light up at random and I can't figure out why.
It just indicates you being hit/taking damage. Notice how it only happens when you get hit, and it’s on rhythm with each hit
How do the kameos work are they non playable characters or playable characters that can be used for support?

The character intros/selection are a nice touch as well. Not sure how much of this was in previous entries, haven’t played MK since MKX. The cameos look off, like they don’t fit in with the games aesthetics. They remind me of how characters in OG MK sort of clashed with the backgrounds, sort of a green screen effect that was especially noticeable when certain animations happened (finishing moves) but maybe that’s what they’re going for. Kano’s little taunt at the end of that long ass throw animation is corny as hell.
Game looks cool though, can’t wait to see more characters.

I think they are going for a hyper real feeling not just in the rendering style but also in the weighted physical feeling with more frames. I think it makes the game feel less goofy. Take it or leave it, it's an interesting take and some people might be more inclined to play the game because of it. Personally I think they need to make things feel less streamlined and clean, rough it up a bit! The dirty basement feel of the first game way back when was a good direction imo.

I love Max getting increasingly more frustrated with Kano's animation. Who approved that?! What was the reasoning?! I don't understand... Like I get it when it's to be flashy with character's actually attacking, but halting the match for a walking animation??? I just find it so funny that it could have easily just not been part of the match and he backs away in the background, but for some reason this is what they decided on.
MK11 gameplay looks faster somehow. Never thought I’d be saying that. I’d be surprised if netherrealm doesn’t crank up the movement and dash speed (and some grab animations) when the game releases

For how real the game looks, the animation and sfx doesn't match that realism so it comes off looking "choppy".
The recent MK games have been high on graphic fidelity but always lacking in the animation department.

I like the slower gameplay because I can follow what is happening, as a beginner. I do understand that it's too slow for experienced players

Max doesn't look that enthusiastic about this game. Can't blame him since they managed to make it slower than MK11 and the kameos seem very restrictive (and the animations take AGES).

@@LulutheJester Hey much appreciated you think so! Kenshi was definitely the character I played against the least during the stress test. For example on day 1 I played for 9 hours and only encountered 2 Kenshis the whole time. I think he's going to be a character that's hard to master but very strong and rewarding if you put the time in!
