- Finally done moving (again)! Here is the 48 hour review of the OnePlus 6T! It is an awesome phone and just kind of blows my mind when I compare it to the $1,000 range. It offers just about everything you could need.

The moving is finally finished. First place had some issues so we had to move AGAIN 2.5 weeks later. MY GOODNESS. No time to complete ANYTHING. Anywho, here are my thoughts =)
Erica, did you test the scanner with night mode on? I have Meizu 16th now and its reader does not work this way
It's alright Erica, take your time and find a good place to make the video. Love your videos and a place to get settled without issues! Keep up the great work as always!
That sucks! I hope you guys found the issues before everything was unpacked. What a nightmare
Love your videos Erica keep rocking email, I returned my buggy pixel 3 xl for now probably pick up again during holidays if Verizon does a deal , so I'll wait bugs should be fixed by then as well, and if they do a 50% off or something it will be a deal , I'm store manager for Verizon so I'll know soon , also I'm gonna order my one plus 6t but I already want a res one , wish they did red , who knows how many month till red sucks if I get blk then in a couple months they announce red plus looks like pixel camera apk is available for one plus courtesy of XDA
Erica Griffin those icons on the OnePlus 6T, are they the ones that come on the phone or did you install a launcher and an icon pack?

That's only a shipping screen protector, not meant for regular use.
@@3DJapan OP actually puts a plastic screen protector for you to use.
That was the shipping plastic. All One plus devices come from factory with tempered glass screen protector, that was what they were talking about not that little plastic shipping piece.
@ Totally!
That's amazing that for navigation you can essentially choose:
- Pixel (but done right)
- Old Android
- iOS
Absolutely. The only area they are kinda lacking is in the camera department. If they nail that, you almost have a perfect phone sans headphone jack...
Stanley Sandeep Read somewhere that installing Google Pixel 3 apk fixes the camera Issue. If you own a snapdragon 845 phone pls try.
@@stanleysandeep Yeah, but then you have the debate. Is a better camera worth double the price. For a guy like me who has never taken an aesthetic picture in his life I'd rather get the OP 6T.. Also I only own one pair of headphones so using the adapter isn't really going to affect me either
Your reviews are really refreshing, when you compare it to other copy-paste reviewers, detailed, honest and to the point. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for showing that I can reverse the Back and Multitasking buttons. No one else showed that and I was very curious ( I prefer the Samsung layout)

I don't know if Samsung is using their own Filesystem (F2FS) but, if They are, it's likely that Your Phone is Suffering from a Slowdown due to that Filesystem's inherent Design Problem:
- it Trades "Long-Term/Overtime" Performance for a WAY FASTER "Out-of-the-Box" Performance. → Samsung (probably) thought it wouldn't be a problem as "People" would Upgrade their Flagship Phone for it's Newer iteration every Release or whenever They "Felt" Slower... (Every 2 Years?...) ← it's Stupid.
*Solution:*
*1.* - Make sure that You have the Newest Firmware Upgrade/Update available installed.
*2.* - Backup Personal Files (and whatever Application Settings You can Export/Backup/Save/etc. That You want)
*3.* - Restart into Your Phone's *_"Recovery Mode"_* (You need to find out what combination of _"Volume+Power"_ Keys work for Your Device somewhere Online)
*4.* - Format/Wipe Your _Data/Media Partition_ (Erase/Factory Reset ALL available Personal Data You can there)
*5.* - Format/Wipe Your _Cache Partition_ (if available)
*6.* - Restart ("Normally") (Should take _"a While Longer"_ than a "Normal", Non-Reset Restart due to having to "Compile" All the Pre-installed System Apps and initialize the Android OS and it's Settings)
*7.* - Finish the Device initial Setup however You want
*8.* - Go to "Settings → Security" (or similar) and make sure that the Device is Encrypted (should be _"by Default"_ , but make sure)
*9.* - Check for System Upgrades/Updates and then the Google Play/App Store (Open the "Play Store"'s Settings and press the Version to check for and install Updates to the "Play Store" itself) (better have WiFi for this)
*10.* - Update All Pre-installed Apps (or Disable them - Samsung is infamous for it's _"Bloatware"_ ...) ← This includes (it's a "Must") Updating the illusive "Google Play Services" App!. - might need to search for it in Google Search engine on Chrome or something and open it in the "Play Store" from there... (You can't find it by searching *in* the "Play Store" itself - it just doesn't show up)
*11.* - do a "Normal" Restart
After Booting, let it Stabilize for 5 minutes or so to make sure every (System)(and other) App did Finish Booting/being Loaded.
Check if it's still Lagging. - it shouldn't, hopefully...
*Remember:*
- Only install Apps (or Games) that You actually frequently "use"!. (Prefer Websites on Chrome whenever it's just "Sporadic" use, unless there's no "alternative"...) ("WhatsApp" for example)
- The more Apps You have installed, the heavier and more "Laggy" it gets, even without the Filesystem's Overtime Performance Degradation...
C Ya L8r then!. *;P*
.
(
I can't really blame others though...
The "Play Store" says I have over 250+ Apps installed, including Google ones that come Pre-installed Like CZcams...
Good Thing My *OnePlus 5T* has No Problems with ALL of this... - though to it's defense, most of them don't _"Start with the System":_ They must be manually Opened and have no Lasting Background Services...
)
Bye then.
Was waiting for your review! Great as always!
The amount of details we learn from your videos is staggering! Nice review Erica!
Thanks, Erica, now I finally know what this phone is about. Everyone was so stressed to get therir reviews up first that most feel rushed and not too deep. Yours, though only about your first impressions, is impressively detailed. ;) Can't wait to hear your thoughts as you test out the 6T more fully. I find it interesting that you don't have any gripes with the missing jack or notification LED and I'm really curious how you get around those little flaws. (They're not a dealbreaker for me, just curious) I have to say, I was really really looking forward to buying this phone in white. I don't care much for black phones.
Not including the LED notification is a big no for me, wanted to buy the device, but I am so used to the notifications LED, that I can't go without it.
I have to admit, once I learned that they did away with the notification LED, I almost did not buy the 6T. it was a big deal breaker for me as I had different colors for difererent apps (so I could know how important it was to check my phone). seriously, I didn't even care about no headphone jack as much i cared about the notification LED.
after much research, I discovered this app called pixel pulse which wakes up the 6T's ambient display when you get a notification and it's highly customizable like how long you want it to flash the ambient display for before it turns off (to save battery--I have it set for 3 minutes) and also how long in between flashes (I have it set to 20 seconds). I am now a proud owner of the 6T. it is just too nice a phone to pass up and the app was an amazing compromise.
@@billyc3237 I bought the 6T in the end, was looking for a couple of apps replacing the notification led at first, but in the end I got used to not having the Led and not need it

I like the OnePlus 6T very much and can we now call this The Flagship Killer? I think we can if you're just looking for a phone that works and it's made to be simple. And the camera on this device isn't bad at all either. Flagship specifications that doesn't cost a flagship price. Google and the other manufacturers need to take lessons from OnePlus on how a phone should be done.
How many fingerprints can be registered? I've found that registering a single finger multiple times usually increases accuracy on there devices.
At least 4, but -- initially, only once per digit. Read in comment that it'll take after a few attempts; and it's definitely helped with speed & accuracy.
Great unboxing and first impressions vid, Ms. Erica Griffin. Been watching lots of 6T unboxing and review videos but didn't see one as detailed as yours. Love how you review phones. You cover things i'm actually interested in .
Hi Erica, I’m considering getting the 6T over the Pixel 3 this year. Would love to hear your thoughts here or in a comparison video. Thanks
hey, just saw your question and thought I'd give my 2 cents.
if you're into photography & take a lot of pictures on your phone. love stock android and want access to constant updates. Prefer phones that fit perfectly in your hand i.e good reach ability. I think Google Pixel is better.
If you're not too particular about anything. About photography, about sound, about features. You just want a phone with great performance, takes great pictures & videos, is stress free and fast with good ram management. Offers what other flagship devices have all for a more affordable price then I think the Oneplus 6T would be better.
@@sonicthehedgehog1984 I agree pixel takes way better photos but OnePlus has great performance and better price.
@@sonicthehedgehog1984 Thanks. The OnePlus is not officially available in Australia so it's much easier for me just to walk into a local retail store and buy the pixel 3. Mind you, starting at$1200 here I might wait to see if they drop in price at the end of the year sales.
Is the Google pixel a really good camera? Yes
... But it's not that much better imo the Oneplus 6T will definitely take great shots... Plus it's video is better than pixel which has a bad microphone... Also the pixel is ridiculed with hardware and software issues (most can be fixed via software but it doesn't speak well when there are soo many issues).. Also in regards to the software.. The pixel launcher has been under fire cuz its navigation system is intuitively flawed... The Oneplus 6T fixes that...
You might want to compare pixel 2xl vs the 3, depending on your criteria. How often you upgrade etc... Only bonus I would see in the pixel is speakers and camera. Otherwise, I personally prefer the alert slider and various silent modes as well as the ram. It seems like 6gb was ridiculous when I bought it, but my OP3T has zero lag (cpu tools show it utilizing more than 4gb of the ram, which is all most brands have), which I can't say of my previous devices Samsung Galaxies as they age. Also coming from Samsung, I like to keep my back button on the right (unless pixel added the option, it's on the left) I tried the standard left side, but it's annoying to stretch so far when I'm right handed. OnePlus has so many nice little additions like this that I took for granted as well as dark mode, which Google finally added to Android messages, so maybe the system OS too.
+1 for taking off the screen protector!
Well you couldn't exactly leave it on.
Thanks Erica for another informative video... Keep it up!

@@dsears1973 he made another video correcting his mistake.. project fi is based on T-Mobile towers
@@dsears1973 it is indeed LOCKED
I'm not even sure that's legal to be honest. If you buy something and you own it 100%, they no longer have any right to keep any sorts of locks on it. If they're willing to sell it, they should be willing to unlock it. You can talk him into unlocking it anyway. I did the same thing with MetroPCS once. Just said let me speak to a manager. Once you own it you own it. Imagine buying a house and the ex-owner not only keeps the keys but tells you you can't change the locks lol
@@Chance57It shouldn't be, but it is. They've been doing this stuff for years. Verizon was one of the worst about it, not to mention they're cdma vs GSM. It's not permanently locked though, just for a month or so.
Man I really like the speed and interface of this phone, particularly the 9.0 gestures, but I'm just unable to give up wireless charging, water resistance, and a completely customizable button. That issue with the fingerprint sensor also looks like a huge drag. God I wish Samsung was better with software.

Great video Erica, one thing that bugged me through all the video was that tear drop notch. The sooner someone (most likely Samsung) will deliver one without it and still have the camera embedded in the screen the better. I will never buy a notch phone. 👍

What happened to #NeverSettle?
You can't have the moon
They settled. They want that sweet, sweet average consumer money over the people that actually cared - the community.
@ That's complete and utter BS. The jack isn't obsolete and literally doesn't have anything wrong with it and the fact that they include the dongle is clear evidence that people still use it and it shows with it being Apple's #1 selling product. And no, it does change a lot, like being able to charge your phone and listen to music at the same time. Just because Apple spread false information saying that it's old when Bluetooth came out in 1989 does NOT mean that you end up being a sheep and take their word as gospel. The community wanted the jack but OnePlus wanted the average consumers' pockets. So yes, they settled for less than basic functionality for more money through accessories - remove and create a problem and then sell idiots the solution.
@@ymartin0101 That's the moon now? For $600?

That's such a small thing to complain about tho
@@Videohead-eq5cy no pun intended, but it's one of the things that you subconsciously pay attention to. it lets you know if your phone is charging or charged, it lets you know if you got a missed called, voicemail, text message, instant message since your screen doesn't light up, email, and plenty of other things that are functional. in fact my step mother has an iPhone and she always has missed calls and text messages, but she never knows that she has them until she picks up her phone, I'm pretty sure you can understand how inconvenient that can be if you don't really pay attention to your phone that often or take it everywhere you go.
No, *you will not* have trouble with finger print scanner if you use most other screen protectors. That's just marketing bullshit and you shouldn't fall for it.
I wonder if they are speaking about glass screen protectors and possible issues with light refraction.
@@EricaGriffin You can unlock the screen even with a few cracks over the fingerprint scanner. Also I have to mention that the way the sensor works is by the bright screen animation used light your finger so the sensor can register(see) your print. That's why the drawback of having to turn on the screen exists.
I'd agree if you said "most other" instead of "any other". There's really no way to know unless you've tried every other one out there.
@@TheOtherBill Ok, fixed it.
Refractions one thing, but if you setup the fingerprint sensor after you put on the screen protector, the only data it should ever gather about your fingerprint is what it's scattered through the screen protector so it should understand the refraction.
We're talking about super clear glass that's less than half a millimeter thick in most cases, but I imagine you wouldn't run into any issue even if you got a matte plastic screen protector.

$600 for no wireless charging, ok camera, dim 400 nits BOE display, no IP rating, mono-speaker, 2nd rated biometric security. Only a deal for Android sheeps. I’d buy a Note 9 for $700 than this.
How is note 9 700$ phone?
Satish kumar Note 9’s price crushed immediately after release because US carriers were doing buy-1-get-1 promo.
Wireless charging is useless. The camera competes with high end phones(the average consumer won't even realize much of a difference). If you want photos buy a high end camera.
iFenom_z wireless charging is not useless and many people prefer it. IP68 is very handy and I ended up using it with my iPhone XS Max a few days ago. The stereo speakers on my iPhone also come in handy. Stop justifying your purchase. You wasted money.
@@YTC1234 wireless charging is a gimmick. +1 6T has dash charge, it isn't IP68 ratee but it is water resistant, the only downside is the speaker which isn't a problem for me (only time I use my speakers is when I get a call), all other times it's a headphone.
Stop trying to justify your purchase of a $1500 phone that is beat by a $550 on many features.
iPhone rapes your pockets for the fun of it.
First time watching your vids. Very nicely done. I appreciate you taking the time to explain some of the settings on the phone. On my Mi Mix 2, I have something called "Second Space". I click on it and it displays a screen that says:

Could you please share your findings with the USB C headphones? I still own a Pixel 2 XL and not having a headphone jack, I was wondering if these are a good wired option. Thanks!
Another great review from Erica. I had a 6+ before I dropped it and now waiting for a 6T. I like wireless charging of course but that charging speed with DASH charge dang!
