I live in a former industrial town in the north west of England. Same as the others really. Declining highstreets, drugs, crime, and cenotaphs serving as memoriams to the wreckage of war and the communities it destroyed. A few miles to the north is a place called Pendle. In my opinion, this marks a strange boundary line between modern England and a place once known as the 'Middleland'. This kingdom stretched from north Lancashire right to the Scottish borders. Pendle; itself infamous for witchcraft, gives way to wider lands of sweeping moors and old forests. This a place of grouse shooting & salmon fishing, of old pubs, log fires and quiet people. Travelling further, one spies tiny hamlets accessible only through narrow lanes marked by faded signs. Unlike the Lake District, this area is seldom mentioned in tourist guides. It has an interesting history. Never fully controlled by the Romans, it was a land under constant threat. During the Dark Ages, noble warlords, Celts and Vikings all vied for control, bringing fire and sword for centuries. After the Reformation, it became a bastion of hidden Catholicism. Many of the stately homes had 'priest holes' to hide their clergy from the power of the Protestant south. These are old communities. Difficult to find without knowing what you're looking for. There's a sadness to it, but in many ways Bowland and the Dales represent the lost heart of old England.

The village of King's Watch. All the folk know their dale is named for the burial mound up in the hills, and the legend an old king lies waiting there should they need his protection . Little do they know how real the tales are...

what is it about autumn? Something happens...the world changes. It's a time for closing off, the ending of cycles. Somehow there is a feeling of spirits being freed, a quiet whisper in the wind, a sort of magical but also sightly foreboding feeling.
When I re-read The Lord of the Rings it is always in the Fall of the year, to me the book just hits perfectly with the season, and now, this ambience just flows with that, outstanding job!
Makes sense, LOTR begins on Bilbo and Frodo's birthday, September 22nd, and the Hobbits always mention how the fall makes them feel like going on an adventure!
same for me with Witcher, first saw it in Polish serial in my childhood and there were mostly autumn landscapes. Now autumn = Witcher

Over the Garden Wall is a FANTASTIC fall/halloween movie.
A friend of mine introduced me to it at a movie night at his house. He set up a projector outside and we all wrapped ourselves up in blankets and drank cider and hot chocolate while watching. It was amazing.

This is phenomenal. Man did you generate a whole scene through the music and picture that sublimates into our ears. I've never experienced this kind of mood created in this. It's giving me chills. Like, I'm catching main character energy, but not the narcissist one; I mean in the Joseph Cambell sense, where you're a peon hero going for the first few steps that start a five book hero's box set series😅❤❤🎉
This is exquisite. I love the scenery and sound. The bird reminds me of a whip-poor-will but also it sounds like a "coo-coo" sound (which most of us are xD) ... if we're being honest with ourselves. I see myself on top of the hill looking down at the land in the "next life" and all the problems people have and wishing I could save people from themselves and all that we're that is negative but that will never happen for everyone at the same time. Sombering.

The atmosphere on this one is just brilliant. The music and nature effects blend perfectly, and I really love the cuckoo; it's funny how it's not necessarily spooky unless that's where your mind is already, and then it's beautifully eerie. I'd add "The Girl From The Other Side" to the list of stories it calls to mind.

I like it that the skeleton is wearing a purple cloak. The color of royalty.
Concentric circles on the gravestone: an ancient symbol of triadism, i.e. a belief that all things in the universe come in threes. This is further emphasized by there being three sets of concentric circles and three bones on the grave stone. More concentric circles carved into the surrounding rocks. This is a symbol of the constant cyclical nature of the universal triad of life, death and rebirth.
These are just some bells and whistles on the overall theme of autumn -- the season of dying -- staring patiently over humanity basking in the glow of late summer.
It's unusual for ambience videos to have so much subtext. Bravo.
