Hi! [THERE IS A WAY TO AVOID THE INTO FIRE ADVANCEMENT] Firstly, thanks for watching the video, I didn't expect this to blow up like that! Secondly, a way to avoid the Into Fire advancement was found!!! As DrMeanie and nameedited1936 stated in the comments, the streamer/youtuber SmallAnt discovered a way to avoid the Into Fire advancement: if you make the blazes die on top of a hopper with a boat chest under it, you can then bring the boat chest all the way back to the overworld next to your crafting table, open the menu of the boat chest while pointing towards the crafting table, and if you click the offhand button, it will put the blaze rods in your offhand, and you don't get the advancement as long as you don't close the GUI of the boat chest, so if you close the boat chest menu and instantly open the menu of the crafting table on the same frame, you can avoid the advancement! Here's a small video example: czcams.com/video/dcIkwGbjYlc/video.html This makes the game beatable with only 4 advancements (including root advancements)! Now, there's also a few questions I see a lot in the comments, so instead of answering the same thing to every comment individually, I'll answer them all here: Q: Your food bar keeps going up and down, did you eat food off camera? A: No, I did not eat any food. Respawning resets your food bar, so whenever I see my food bar going down I place all my items in a chest, jump from a bit too high or stay in water for a bit too long, and once I respawned my food bar is now full, and I come back to get the items from the chest I placed (which I often sort the exact same way, so the only thing that changes after a cut is my food bar). I do it at 3:08 for example. Also, this doesn't have any repercussions in the run, the world is not in hardcore so we can respawn as much as we want, and lava/water don't count as entity damage so we don't get the "Adventure" advancement. Q: You said you're playing in 1.19.4 but your game has old Netherrack textures, how? A: I did play in 1.19.4 but I used the "Programmer Art" resource pack, which shows the textures from pre-1.14. Q: How did you change your spawnpoint without getting the "Sweet Dreams" advancement? A: You only get that advancement by sleeping in the bed, if you click on the bed during daytime, it will change your spawnpoint without giving you the advancement. Q: Doesn't collecting seeds give the "A Seedy Place" advancement? A: Nope, you only get that advancement by planting the seeds, not by collecting them. Q: How did you avoid "Getting Wood", "Taking Inventory" and "Time to Mine!"? A: Those used to be "Achievements", but in Java Edition they got removed in 1.12, where they got replaced by Advancements. So there are no advancements for opening your inventory, gathering wood or making wooden tools anymore. Q: Doesn't entering a boat in water give an advancement? A: No, that's a recipe. Q: Isn't there another way to get Blaze Rods or Blaze Powder without going in the Nether like trading with villagers or killing witches? A: No. In the current version of Minecraft (Java Edition), Blazes are the only way to obtain Blaze Rods and Blaze Powder, and Eyes of Ender can only be crafted. Witches don't drop blaze powder, Eyes of Ender do not spawn in any chests, cleric Villagers stopped trading Eyes of Ender in 1.9 and they have never traded Blaze Rods or Blaze Powder, and the brewing stand in igloos do not contain any Blaze Powder. Q: Can't you get a fully light up portal to avoid the Nether entirely and finish the game in two advancements? A: Theoretically, yes. However, that would only be realistically possible on a set seed, since an end portal only has one chance in a TRILLION to spawn pre-filled with 12 eyes. Q: You can avoid "Into Fire" by using the gui skip glitch!! A: That would've been a way to avoid it, but unfortunately this got patched in version 1.17, so we can't do that anymore, and reverting to an older version would go against the rules I set for this challenge. However, as stated at the top of this comment, another way was found to avoid this advancement. Q: Banana and Bread did it first, you copied them!! A: Actually, I had the idea for this challenge long before they made a video about it. I finished writing the route for this video in September 2022, while Banana and Bread uploaded their video in March 2023. I only started recording for this video in late April though, and in the meantime they had the same idea and made a video first. Anyway, their video is good, you should watch it, it's interesting to see how we found completely different ways to avoid some advancements! Q: wow old netherrack is ugly A: yeah but i like it Also, at 11:00 I said we couldn't trade with Piglins without getting an advancement, but actually if you wear gold armor when trading with the Piglin, you don't trigger the "Oh Shiny" advancement, so trading gold to Piglins would've worked. I hope that will answer some of your questions, thanks for your comments! :)
there is a way to craft blaze powder without ever having the blaze rods in your inventory, if you transport the blazerods in chestboat to the craftingtable then you can do a tick perfect trick to enter the crafting table without the game ever noticing you have had blaze rods, this is done by hotkeying the blazerods from the chestboat to your offhand and then exiting out of the chestboat inventory and clicking on the crafting table, if done right the game doesn't notice that you have them in your inventory, from there you need to hotkey the blazerods from the offhand directly into the crafting grid from there you can just craft as usual. this works for any item needed in a crafting recipe. as far as i know this is still possible in 1.19 as i have seen a streamer avoid it this way.

im pretty sure trading with villagers only gives 1 advancement so what i was thinking was that to avoid the "Into Fire" advancement, you could go to a village and get an alchemist to trade you blaze powder so instead of getting 3 advancements for going through the nether, u only get 1

super interesting, especially all the little technical details about the game (e.g only getting Eye Spy for being in the stronghold for 1 second, not immediately) and he did it all with just wooden picks!
@@matthewseverything5752 Didn't matter at the time. The only reason to avoid sprinting is so your food doesn't decrease as fast, but the food bar refills on every death and the farm setup sees you dying pretty often. There's no advancement tied to sprinting
the newest version actually makes this challenge maybe easier because in older versions, you have the "taking inventory" and the "getting wood" advancement.
As a speedrunner, I have huge amounts of respected for what you did here. Only thing I would have done differently is on the one cycle. There's a way to make it easier and more similar to what Speedrunners usually do which is by waterlogging a slab in the position where obsidian usually goes. That avoids the slab from blowing up. GG, dude. Hope this vid blows up
i love the idea but I see some problems with his run (I'm not a speed runner but have played Minecraft for a ferly long time and yes I may mistake a few achievements as I have played modded for a long time too and I have played bedrock and java) like in the beginning he says he cannot sleep in a bed but latter says he dose and also show himself doing so, I'm pretty sure collecting seeds is an achievement and along with that isn't getting in a boat that is in water an achievement?, he punched a tree, and he crafted wooden tools (note: I'm not trying to be mean and it has been a while since i played Minecraft he just didn't even bring up the bed one witch he said was a achievement and also because I haven't played I replied under someone who says they do speed running so they can correct me)
@@deanagay9183 the bed one only applies when it's night. If you just set your spawn during the day to reset your hunger (we call that a death reset) it doesn't count as sleeping and doesn't give the advancement. About the other 2 I'm not really sure since I'm not familiar with all the "hidden" advancements, the ones that don't show on chat, but I'm pretty sure those are not advancements. I can research them and come back later with the info
@@deanagay9183I could be wrong as its been quite some time since i have played the java version of minecraft but im pretty sure the wooden tools advancement is only gained by crafting all wooden tools, if that is correct then he wouldnt get it due to not crafting a wooden hoe.
I'm pretty sure you can trade with piglins without getting the advancement. If you're wearing gold, it wont be considered "distracting" it because its not mad at you.
True but I wonder how he'd pull it off. There are three items piglins can trade that WILL give you an advancement. Obsidian will give you "ice bucket challenge", Crying obsidian will give you "who is cutting onions" and blackstone will give you "stone age". So you need some way to avoid picking up those items and only pick up pearls Edit: four items, iron boots will give you "suit up". I dont know if theres more, point is you have to be extremely careful or you'll throw the challenge
@@wallysullivan9315 You could simply trade one item at a time. It would take a while, but if you fill your entire inventory up with anything, like dirt or netherack for example, and then manually hand a single piglin gold and then after he throws the traded item only pick it up if it's useful. If it's a bad item you could walk away from it and leave it there to eventually despawn.
@@admakrnowl6806or you can fill your inventory with items other than those so you don’t pick it up once you get one ender pearl so you can still pick those up
This video is seriously underrated. Not only did you explain your thought process clearly but you also slipped in some witty comedy that made it entertaining. I haven’t watched a MC video in a while that’s kept my attention the whole way through like this. Humbly take my sub because you deserve it
If you find an already finished end portal by absolute chance, you could theoretically skip the entire Nether part and have two less advancement. There is 1/1000000 chance for that, but still...
To skip "Into Fire," you can use bundles. You can craft bundles from just rabbit hide and string, which can both be gotten by suffocation. Craft a hopper (using the same iron nugget trick as the bucket) to pick up the rod, then use a bundle to take the rod directly out of the hopper. While the bundled blaze rod is in your inventory it doesn't give you the advancement. I just tested it on 1.19.4 and a few snapshots, and you can unbundle it directly into the crafting grid to get blaze powder without "Into Fire." In fact, the bundle + hopper combo lets you pick up off the ground any item without getting an advancement, and you can also use the bundle to take iron ingots, diamonds, etc. out of chests to make the run a bit easier. You have to enable the experimental datapack for bundles, but I think this is a lot more reasonable than downgrading to before 1.17 to do the "gui skip" that other comments have talked about because presumably the bundles are going to be permanently in the base game at some point.
Very interesting! I probably wouldn't have allowed the experimental datapack in the challenge rules either if I knew about it, but it's something that will probably get officially released in the future so it will be a good way to avoid that advancement!
11:00 actually you CAN trade with piglins, the "oh shiny" achievement is only gained when the piglin is attacking you, and THEN you drop the gold, if you drop the gold while wearing gold armor you will NOT get the "oh shiny" advancement
it could still be problematic though, for example you'd have to make sure that your inventory is full with a pearl(s) already in a slot so you only pick that up. since they like to drop a lot of crying obsidian and that gives an advancement
@@LilacMonarchhe managed not to get a COBBLESTONE while he mined to get in the stronghold as well as newr bedrock level for the lava..sooo that wouldn't be a problem to him 💀
If you put your gold in a chest, then break it, you can still avoid getting the "Oh Shiny" advancement and avoid the need for a mob tower for pearls. Also works for a furnace, if you want an inventory piglins won't get mad about breaking. *Edit* Apparently, it also doesn't give you that as long as you trade without them being aggro, which is much simpler. I think the only other improvements would be hoping you hit the lottery with a 12 eye, then just digging around randomly forever to find the stronghold, but this obviously isn't a practical strat in random seed. It would shave 3 advancements though...
I believe there is a set seed with full end portal so would be interesting to see this run on there. But to randomly come across a seed like that would takes years and years and years given the probability
@@JMS0398 There are many known set seeds with 12 eyes. It makes the challenge pretty boring, however. Run to a village, grab beds, punch your way down to the stronghold, pillar up again before jumping into the porta. Wait for the dragon to perch, kill it with beds.
Not a speedrunner, but I think you can avoid getting « Oh Shiny » by wearing a gold armor. The advancement requires to distract the piglin with gold, not simply trade with them; it triggers when you shift their state from hostile to neutral by giving them a gold ingot, which cannot happen if the piglin isn’t hostile in the first place
I like to see another person who also uses the programmer art texture pack. However, I recommend you get a pack that fixes the new 1.14+ textures so they keep the same style. I think that if you prefer the old textured over the new ones, this might make your graphics even nicer.
Yeah, tbh I think the only old texture that's really ugly is the Netherrack, so I think I'll make a quick texture pack that replaces the old Netherrack with the new one and put it on top of the Programmer's Art one, so that I'll have all the old textures except for the Netherrack.
Something I learned from a different video on this topic. You can avoid "Into Fire" by doing what is known as a gui skip. Fill your inv. Open a crafting table. Move an item in your inv so that you pick up the blaze rod while still inside the crafting table and craft it into powder which won't grant an advancement.
@8Bit_Cat yeah with this method you choose between which advancement you want to avoid, as the other you will have to get. Or you could get the blaze to the overworld
@@byzantiumgaming You could also gui skip to craft hoppers and if using he same with cobblestone, you could send the item to the overworld with a dispenser and craft it with a table there
@@NotchArrow Yes that is true and will avoid both advancements. But for the sake of sanity (as getting a nether portal close enough to the blaze spawner is a very low chance or gui skipping throwing the item 1 block at a time) the crafting table is preferable as it can help with other things too, if you forgot to craft something.
WOW. Major Props. This seemed like an absolute nightmare to accomplish! Beating the game all the while only completing 5 advancements. I really liked how you used the technical mechanics and your knowledge of the game to avoid as many advancements as possible.
this was great, minecraft speed runs and challenge runs are so cool to me. been playing this game since before there was a survival mode and i love they there’s so much micro-tech for fringe scenarios that i’m constantly learning about lmfao.
Insane challenge, I was skeptical as first knowing that there are some advancements that are unavoidable, but I kept watching and saw your tactics and looparounds and I was like; "wait, this guy might actually pull this off"... But then the unavoidable happened. I was so disappointed, not at you tho XD but at minecraft. Still, you did awesome! I enjoyed every bit of it. I like the way you explain things, and I like your humor as well. I also love the fact that there's no obnoxious editing. You earned a sub, we hope to see more!
huuge props to you, rhododo! i also found myself watching all advancements speedruns (there goes hours of my life), but a no advancements run is even crazier! i have immense respect for your dedication and commitment to what was probably the most tedious minecraft game you’ve ever played. while those 5 unavoidable advancements are a bummer, the fact that you managed to do it with as little advancements as possible is extremely commendable. you should be proud that you accomplished such a feat!
@@JohnTitorSG no as you have to retrieve the rod from the hopper/chest then go into a crafting table. the instant from putting the rods in your inventory will give you the advancement.
Due to the lack of an automatic crafting system in the base game, I don't think you could turn the rod into an eye of ender without it going through the player's inventory.
The enderman at 7:39 caught on fire because while in a boat, endermen can still teleport, they just end up right back in the boat, for one tick the enderman teleported into lava.
I cant even imagine the insane planning and dedication that went into pulling this off. All the respect to you man. My only critique is I would’ve loved to see a timer on the bottom of the screen just so I could have an idea of how long you suffered in this challenge :)
This video was just magical to watch. Clear, concise, engaging, entertaining, the works. One of the best Minecraft videos I’ve seen in terms of quality.
Insanely high effort video, wow! Only thing I want to say is that I'm pretty sure you only get "Ooh Shiny" if you barter with an *aggressive* Piglin, so if you wear gold armor while doing it it should be fine. I dunno if that's actually faster though, since to obtain any significant quantity of gold you'd have to either get an iron pickaxe (which would add an advancement) or explore around for structures that generate with it.
Thanks! :) I just tried it and you're right, we don't get the Oh Shiny advancement when we wear a gold armor! However, we'd have to be very careful when trading with them because they can give iron armor and obsidian, which both give advancements upon collecting them, so I probably would've ended up going with Endermen anyway.
@@Rhododo you could fill your inventory with other things and leave one spot with and ender pearl so they stack there but you don't pick up anything, you still have to get one ender pearl some other way though first.
saw Smallant's run of the 'low%' advancement run. interesting to see the different methods to obtain the needed items. the big differences is in the eye of ender item collections and getting into the end portal. 1: smallant was already wearing gold items he found so he could trade for the pearls without distracting the piglins. (still find the boat killing great) 2: with a bit further understanding of monster hunter advancement, it only checks if you are final blow and not if you dealt damage, while to get the blaze rod a player/tamed wolf just needs to damage the blaze. so he punched a blaze and had an angry piglin shoot the blaze to kill it. 3: smallant was able to dig under his portal for easier eye placement, then used a pearl to tp into the portal. 4: he did utilized the Into the Fire skip you added in the comments to craft the powder, plus he managed to grab himself some diamond tools with the same boat method + tnt to 'mine' the diamonds. still a great run and a great vid about it.
Thanks! Yeah SmallAnt found some really creative ways to avoid advancements. Just a bit of a precision for the Monster Hunter advancement though, it doesn't exactly count who did the final blow, I'm pretty sure it also counts who dealt the most damage to the monster. Since he just punched the Blazes once and let the Piglins do the rest of the job, he didn't get the advancement, but for example with my Snowman strat, since I dealt 19HP of damage to the Blaze, if I just spawned the Snowman to finish the Blaze without waiting, I would've gotten the credit for the Monster Hunter advancement. So there's more to it than just who dealt the final blow (unless it has something to do with the Snowman dying before the snowball lands on the Blaze)
@@Rhododo Idk if this still works but if you jump on a rod and open your inventory you don't get the advancement for picking it Up, similarly to the chest boat method, meaning you can just craft it into powder there, which is way easier
This is such an amazing video, thank you for clarifying many different processes and explaining them in your comment. I heard you couldn't avoid into fire and I was like what if you used the method for the bucket by using a hopper!
This was super entertaining! Wonderful job with the challenge (you’re super smart in trying to go around stuff and taking the time to do so) and video editing skills!
this video is awesome - from the run itself, to how you've explained everything so concisely, to the music choice and little text bits on screen so the video didn't get boring - really really well done :D
I think it’s still possible to trade with a Piglin without getting the Oh Shiny! advancement. The description says the Piglin has to be aggravated, so by wearing gold armor while bartering with them, you can avoid getting the advancement.
This had so many interesting and brilliant ways to avoid getting advancements! I'm glad you managed to succeed so well and that it blew up! Consider yourself a new sub right here. I'll be expecting more amazing videos soon!
This is really awesome lol, for the production quality I thought this channel would have had hundreds of thousands of subscribers, hope you make it big dude
As 1.7 speedrunner I use the tower strategy, there is a lot of improvements possible on yours. You can find a way to trick enderman’s pathfinding to let them fall in a hole under your tower so they can die by fall damage. This vidéo is really cool anyway. Great job !
It's really insane and I could not imagine how much effort you've put into this, well done! And especially I love the sound of your voice and humor tone, can't wait to see more crazy ideas in your future videos, keep it going! :)
This has probably been said before but Oh Shiny only activates if you distract an agro’d pigman, IIRC you don’t get it when bartering with gold armor OR if it’s dropped from a dispenser (To get a dispenser you can get string from cobwebs and make a bow, you don’t get take aim until you shoot an enemy with the bow)
This could be a cool niche speedrun for the game. It’s not “Zero advancements” but super Mario odyssey has a category called minimum captures, so this similarly could be run as minimum advancements. That sort of categorization would also let you run it on other versions with different advancements that might have more or less required.
The biggest coincidence ever happened with this video. Like i was just thinking about beating minecraft without advancements just randomly and i scrolled down and saw this video... Really cool
Ive seen a person do a similar kind of video with a similar title, however they didnt even try to come up with unique strategies like you do and blatantly got advancements. Very nice video.
Man, this is a straight fire video! Loved seeing all the ways you avoided advancements and (this is probably just me) also loved trying to guess them myself! Keep up the amazing work
There was a duo of people that did less advancements. If I remember correctly, they were able to avoid getting Into Fire and such by tick-perfectly picking up the item out of their inventory to craft it up.
@@letsprogress4124 A lot of their methods were similar in concept to the methods used in this video, but were massively hair-pullingly inefficient and not super suited for an actual run. For example, building the portal
This is my first time seeing anything from your channel, this video was great! Fantastic pacing and editing as well as well placed jokes. Easy sub from me can’t wait to see whats next :)
Amazing video. Interesting concept (both to my speedrunning brain and to my minecraft brain) clearly explained, fun narration, fun editing, just everything I want to find in a minecraft video, very cool!
You could avoid the "Into Fire" advancement by putting a hopper under the blaze, and picking the item with a bundle. That way it is never directly in your inventory and then you can just take the item out while in a crafting table or just inventory and put the rod in the crafting grid.
Just subscribed. It's super cool to see you have a channel flip and instantly get tons of views. I personally love brawlhalla, and I've tried to make videos on it in the past, but I suppose you found that little niche that everyone is looking for. I really like your editing style, and as long as you keep a consistent upload schedule, I think you'll gradually blow up in popularity. Good luck, and good job m8!

So you need some way to avoid picking up those items and only pick up pearls
Edit: four items, iron boots will give you "suit up".
If you find an already finished end portal by absolute chance, you could theoretically skip the entire Nether part and have two less advancement.
There is 1/1000000 chance for that, but still...
The effort put into this video is insane, and the editing is suprisingly smooth for such a small channel.
Yea true, i'm really impressed
I'll be honest, I came here for the entertainment, and didn't expect to learn SO MUCH about obscure game mechanics. Great vid.

@@SmartyLightYT Not what they were talking about. They were talking about the way he build the portal without collecting obsidian or lava.
10:46 "We have to get them out of the way in a peaceful manner"
AHH- *dies*
To skip "Into Fire," you can use bundles. You can craft bundles from just rabbit hide and string, which can both be gotten by suffocation. Craft a hopper (using the same iron nugget trick as the bucket) to pick up the rod, then use a bundle to take the rod directly out of the hopper. While the bundled blaze rod is in your inventory it doesn't give you the advancement. I just tested it on 1.19.4 and a few snapshots, and you can unbundle it directly into the crafting grid to get blaze powder without "Into Fire."
In fact, the bundle + hopper combo lets you pick up off the ground any item without getting an advancement, and you can also use the bundle to take iron ingots, diamonds, etc. out of chests to make the run a bit easier.
@@Rhododo but how would you get rabbit hide… without killing a rabbit?

@@whocares2277 yeah but mean RANDOM seed, set seed is easier
Not a speedrunner, but I think you can avoid getting « Oh Shiny » by wearing a gold armor. I like to see another person who also uses the programmer art texture pack. However, I recommend you get a pack that fixes the new 1.14+ textures so they keep the same style. I think that if you prefer the old textured over the new ones, this might make your graphics even nicer.
Yeah, tbh I think the only old texture that's really ugly is the Netherrack, so I think I'll make a quick texture pack that replaces the old Netherrack with the new one and put it on top of the Programmer's Art one, so that I'll have all the old textures except for the Netherrack.
the amount of effort behind this is incredible, thoroughly enjoyed it :)
This is cool and all but how would a crafting table get there?
Could you transport the item in a chest boat to the overworld?

Insanely high effort video, wow! Only thing I want to say is that I'm pretty sure you only get "Ooh Shiny" if you barter with an *aggressive* Piglin, so if you wear gold armor while doing it it should be fine. I dunno if that's actually faster though, since to obtain any significant quantity of gold you'd have to either get an iron pickaxe (which would add an advancement) or explore around for structures that generate with it.
Thanks! :)
I just tried it and you're right, we don't get the Oh Shiny advancement when we wear a gold armor! However, we'd have to be very careful when trading with them because they can give iron armor and obsidian, which both give advancements upon collecting them, so I probably would've ended up going with Endermen anyway.
Nether gold ore can be mined with a wooden pick, so gold is not an issue.
@@Rhododo You could get around that with a hopper pointing into a double chest, though you'd need the 5 iron.

@@janb.3600 wait, you are saying none of the gold ores can be mined with a wood pick, then how is gold not an issue?
saw Smallant's run of the 'low%' advancement run. interesting to see the different methods to obtain the needed items. the big differences is in the eye of ender item collections and getting into the end portal.
1: smallant was already wearing gold items he found so he could trade for the pearls without distracting the piglins. (still find the boat killing great)
2: with a bit further understanding of monster hunter advancement, it only checks if you are final blow and not if you dealt damage, while to get the blaze rod a player/tamed wolf just needs to damage the blaze. so he punched a blaze and had an angry piglin shoot the blaze to kill it.
