    I am an amateur home "smith". This video was SO helpful. I usually polish all my triggers but the taking apart and putting it back together on the PT92 is 95% of the battle. Needles to say my trigger is about half of what it use to be. It's an early 90's model. Very good pistol but the trigger was hard. Again thank you Much for this vid. Big thumbs up.

    Just a heads up! The roll pin that holds the safety in place should be driven out from the bottom to the top. It is installed from the top to the bottom and gets a slight flare during installation. Driving that "flare" through the safety lever and the cross shaft can be challenging. Brownells has a 1.5mm Beretta punch (080-092-055) that works great. 5-6 light taps with a brass gunsmith hammer and the pin was out. Unfortunately the punch costs $16.00. Really glad I started this project, the frame was full of aluminum filings.
    P.S. Found these 1.0 mm punches on ebay (Item: 221549840821) 2 for $1.00 delivered. Small and cheap but should work well on the roll pin.

    Great video. Thanks for your help. Best tip on Taurus PT92 is removing hammer, hammer spring and strut from top like you showed. This eliminates problems with Taurus security lock system. I used the 12# Wilson Combat hammer spring . I also used the Beretta factory video to remove and reinstall the sear spring. Thanks again and God bless

    For anyone who comes across this video with a similar problem to mine: I purchased a set of gold parts from a PT940 to put on my PT911. After the install, I was annoyed to find out that my pistol basically only worked in double action, with no sear engagement in single action mode. I thought I broke something, or disengaged some part of the sear assembly.
    Turns out the trigger bar and sear have slightly different measurements between the two. The parts are majority interchangeable but the sear, trigger bar, and extractor are not interchangeable. You might be able to move the sear and trigger bar together, I didn't try because I didn't want to go swapping out the sear, but the 40 cal trigger bar definitely does not work on the 9mm sear. This may also be a generational difference, since the 40 cal kit I got had a loaded chamber indicator arm instead of a solid extractor, and some of the springs were different.

    When replacing the trigger bar, turn the gun over, feed dental floss up from the bottom behind the trigger on both sides of the gun. Pull the 2 ends of dental floss out the top of the gun. By pulling on the floss, you will pull the trigger spring back allowing for easy install of the trigger bar. Once complete, pull 1 end of the dental floss to remove it and check to be sure the spring is in the slot on the trigger bar. Much easier than trying to put it back in with a screw driver.

    Dude, just letting you know that I have been inspired by your video and after a successfull trigger job on my PT 100. I was so pumped that I searched for videos to do my G3 clone's trigger (10-12# factory). I couldn't find any videos that actually showed breakdown and assembly. I tackled it anyways and got it down to at least 5-6# with very minimal creep and not "gritty" feeling at all. Thanks AGAIN.lol

    So I'm REALLY LATE to the game.
    Had the trigger bar spring pop out of my wife's PT 915 while cleaning inside the magazine well.
    Found the spring, found the owners guide for the PT 92, which the PT 915 sends to be a derivative of the 92, and was able to identify the spring from the exploded view, but not where the spring goes.
    Your video was just what I needed in order to be able to install the spring.
    THANKS!

    A few years ago I also figured out that it is MUCH easier to R&R the sear by pushing the pin out just enough to clear the sear to not have to deal with the sear spring. I've tried to explain it to others on the Beretta forum, but your video shows just how easy it is. Question though. At 6m27s it shows the sear already nearly in place. Approximately how much time does it take you to get it to that point? I like the suggestion by opisex
    of putting the hammer strut in first, too!

    @jonmessenger I would check to make sure you sear spring is in the correct direction and properly installed. Does it lock back if you manually pull the hammer? Just making sure you didnt shave to much off the sear or hammer. Also make sure your hammer strut bar is in the right way. Watch the video again and double check everything. Hope you figure it out!

    I dont have a pull tester, its lighter and smoother tho, DA to because of the new spring. Taking the play out could be tricky you would need some custom machined parts to tighter tolerances to get rid of alot of the slop

  • @A07carmichael1
    @A07carmichael1 Před 12 lety

    Ok, I was having a problem, when I put the D spring in, with getting the hammer to lock back. After some thought and inpection I figured out the spring that held tention on the sear had been moved just enough to not hold the sear in the rear position. It's been "straightened" out and this thing is nasty. Thanks again man.
    P.S. my pt 100 doesn't have the light rail thats built onto the lower receiver. I want to add that scope rail for optics but the rail attaches to the lower receiver rail.

    Hey there. Not willing to install a d spring as my 92af is my primary edc and my life may count on it one day. That said just the polishing portion of this job, is it a really noticeable difference? By that i mean will it take some of the stagey'ness out of the double action pull? All i would like to accomplish is a smoother double action pull. One final question lol, as i said this my edc gun so how often would you recommend changing out the trigger and trigger bar springs for reliability and avoiding breakage? I currently have a lil over 3000 rounds through my gun. Sorry so many questions, not too terribly many m9/92 vids out there lol.

    • @EvilNeil187
      @EvilNeil187  Před 10 lety

      Really I dont think you have anything to worry about with trigger springs, I have had this for many years now, 1000's of rounds, and the trigger springs all look fine, member taurus has a life time warranty so they will be replaced for free.. The polish job will make everything about your trigger pull and break smoother and less "gritty" feeling

    • @EvilNeil187
      @EvilNeil187  Před 10 lety

      maybe 100$ or so, its really not that hard, just pay attention to how your taking it apart and maybe even take pictures of how it goes together if you are afraid you will forget how it goes back together!

  • @GuitarLoveTV
    @GuitarLoveTV Před 10 lety

    True but i dont want to wait until something breaks. I can replace the parts myself and avoid the trouble of having to ship my favorite pistol out and then wait. I will say they must tough springs though because i felt of the tension on my trigger spring amd trigger bar spring and they felt rock solid after over 3000 rds and who knows how much dry practice. By gritty do you mean less stagey though? Cause my only issue with the double action pull is that "build up" so to speak at the end of the trigger pull. Makes for a more difficult and harder to anticipate pull at times.

    • @EvilNeil187
      @EvilNeil187  Před 10 lety

      DA should feel smoother through out the pull, also you shouldn't have to send your entire gun in to replace the spring, I had my safety lever break, they had me mail them the broken part they mailed me a replacement.
      Still those springs are only a couple cents or dollars, if you are worried about them breaking pick up a few extra to have on hand.

    Actually I was in a rush and not paying attention. They weren't light strikes, it was the hammer not locking back after firing, so I had to go to double action to fire the next round. It does this every other round. So, I've put in the D spring again and I bent the sear spring to give it a little more tension and let's see if that fixes it.

  • @aznazguy
    @aznazguy Před 9 lety +1

    I don't have one of these so maybe my comment will show my ignorance, but I was surprised to see you "dry fire" the frame while letting the hammer fall onto what I presume is the frame. Isn't that harmful to the frame? It reminds me of releasing the hammer on an AR15 lower receiver with no upper on it.

    It might be worth noting that you don't want to lose the safety spring. It's the one that's held in place by the grip bushing and looks like a paper clip because it's a "restricted" item and Taurus will not sell you one. I've never seen one in an online company spare parts package either.

    tiny crochet needle is perfect for pulling the trigger sping. Going back in is a dream!
    Be damn careful on any sear engagement surface. A little can go a lot wrong. Also, DONT drop the happer on the frame full force.
    Thats never good for any weapon of this nature.
    Great vid otherwise!

    Dremel tools AND guns don't mix. 'Polish' by hand.

      It's fine if you use the actual polishing wheels and polishing compound.
