This haircut can be VERY frustrating and difficult at first, but keep practicing. It gets a lot easier after trial and error. Even I myself still mess up on this fade from time to time. It happens. 👍🏿✊🏿
how is this different from a low fade? because i need to explain to my barber. i say low fade and he fades my hair into my temple area. i want the fade in the side region like yours.
It's not much different. But, Some barbers have their own style to fading. If you show him a pic of reference.. I'm sure he'll get a visual of what to do and give you what you want.
how often do you cut it
Green Trent ummm.. about 1 every two weeks. Maybe.. this cut doesn't take a lot of maintenance but it also depends on how fast your hair grows

That’s one thing about fades... there’s no room for error fam! Once’s that guideline is cut you’re all the way or ending up with a baldy... well I guess you could turn it into a high fade but ..., probably not

okallup for beginners, anytime making a new guideline, I recommend OPEN the clipper to prevent cutting off too much. Once you get the hand of it, you’ll know when to adjust more.
A real fade
I almost have this down on my third try. I just need to work on blending the line that is left after you remove the hair below the initial guideline.
Remi Ben-Davies if you use the back of your liners and lightly scoop out.. almost as if your not really touching it. It'll be so subtle. That'll help blend that line. It all comes down to touch. That bottom line is the most difficult. Let me know how that works. Thanks for watching

I miss getting my bald fades man.. I don't know why all of a sudden whenever I get a bald fade now, I start to get those bumps then they go away when my hair grows back.
Could just be a little irritation. Use "tendskin" or sea breeze (blue alcohol bottle) after you cut your hair and it'll prevent and soothe the irritation from cutting.
Broderick Hunter thanks man, i'll definitely try them out! I just got a taper fade and been using 91% alcohol, havent seen any signs of the bumps yet, but mild irritation.

+Clever. Polished. My hairs grows relatively fast (also due to me cutting it so frequently). I'd say about 3-4 weeks to get it to the length that it is in the video but my hair is always at a consistent length which is about a 3/8 guard length. For this style...The more hair, the more room you have to work with for the better in my opinion👍🏿

I cut my hair using this video but I didn't have that mirror you were using. Where did you get the 3 paneled mirror? I just used a regular mirror to hold and ended up messing up one side.
I used to use a hand held mirror as well, it's very difficult. The mirror I used is in the description. But, whether you use this mirror or a hand held, it's the same process. Just have to be more precise with your guideline levels.

Yes, you can achieve this cut with the sterling 4 for or ANY clipper of choice. I just used the Babyliss' because the blades were designed for micro movements with this type of fade style.
