@@issaosama4937 I couldn't agree more, but the problem is that it's fundamentally against practices of the well established capitalism of today. I just don't think there is a way to make it work under current conditions without resulting in mass economic stagnation/recession/etc, but the alternative we've been seeing since the early 80s (stagnant wage growth, longer hours, less benefits) won't be sustainable for much longer either.
It's a tough problem for sure.

One of the basic tenets of doing as a Christian is to learn and use discernment. This man exhibits that it was not strong at work going into his service in the White House - that he got duped into working as a supporter of the "president's" policies without due diligence goes against this man's credibility. He's in his "live and learn" phase, it will be ongoing for better and for worse.

(And all he can do at this point is ruin it, which he probably already has with his tariffs, colossal tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, and now the shutdown. We'll probably be seeing a downturn very soon, and he will own that. Won't be able to blame it on Obama.)

Christians are faith-based, not evidence-based. They care about what they _want_ to be true. It has nothing to do with actually being _true._ I mean, if any of their beliefs are true, that's just a coincidence.
So, yeah, lots of them are complete hypocrites. But there's a reason why evangelical Christians are among Trump's _biggest_ supporters. They don't care if he lies. They don't care how he acts. All they care about is what they _want_ to believe. But that's a feature of religion, not a bug.

Ehhhhhhh.... Haven't read it yet. Might not. But from the way he talks I don't think Trump is actually mad about this book. I think he might have actually approved it. It seems like it throws Trump's staff under the bus but defends him a little too much. Classic Trump move. As for the guy being a Christian... as a Christian myself .. I don't get how anyone that believes in the lessons taught by Christ could ever work for Trump more than a week or defend him even afterwards. 3 weeks after the tax cut, the stock market had gained $2Tr. 5 weeks after, it had lost $3Tr in profit taking. So the 1% coined up to $5Tr in 5 weeks, not $2.3Tr in 10 years. Plus, their capital gains taxes are now much lower.

Sorry. What you describe may be a popular fallacy about forgiveness, but it isn't about cleaning up your slate so you can dirty it up again. It is the acknowledgement that everyone will foul up sometimes by intent, sometimes by accident, over and over throughout our lives. But Christians should never be content with it as a lifestyle. cf. Romans 6:1-2 -- "What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer?"

My citation is meant for you to look it up yourself (don't take my word for it) and you'll see the context that the author is talking about. I can see how you might misunderstand my point from the limited citation. No, there is no implication that a Christian, once forgiven, is unable to sin. Merely that, if you are serious about your commitment, you will go out of your way not to make a habit of it, and when you do, that you correct it (ask for forgiveness from God and other people) as soon as possible. That's all.

Christianity is a mixture of evil (such as its scripture failing to condemn slavery) and good, albeit unfulfilled, intentions. It's just not a practical path to follow. Thankfully, its followers more or less DO condemn slavery, but for a huge proportion of Christians it's quite understandable why they endlessly repeat the "sin-be forgiven-sin again" cycle all their lives. Is that not the most practical way to lead a Christian life? They think they are promised forgiveness at the end of their lives almost no matter what they do. Heck, the logic of Christianity, which teaches that we are all sinners, pretty much predicts the routine hypocrisy that Christians continually demonstrate.

Unfortunately almost every so-called Christian that the world has known has been a hypocrite and many an outright sham. "Christian" means to be like Christ. If truly following his example you would never raise a hand towards another (Matthew 5:44, 45), nor would you ever engage in the politics of the world (John 15:19). Many over the centuries have fought wars in the name of land, resources, etc, this does not make those things vial. Those that fight wars or cause any harm in the name of Christ are not Christians. It is unfortunate that this tool of the devil is so effective. Look at the many comments here regarding this, saying that many have died in the name of Christ. Yes, those nations, kings, etc used his name as justification but this was in no way anything the lord asked of us. Do not confuse the battles of the ancient Jewish nation spoken of in the old testament with what Christ has directed of us (new testament) post sacrifice. See the link below for the logic behind the battles oft referred to to demonize Christianity, that were done under the direction of Jehovah/Yahweh.
It is comforting to know that all will have the chance to know that truth before his second coming.

I don't like Trump or people who work for him. But I think people who work for the presidency, regardless of which president, are there to do their jobs. I have mixed feeling about trump staff mouthing off after leaving their post but not during. But then again, I'm glad they help us picture the white house as it is instead of the rosy flower trump wants us to believe. I don't have a reason to hate this guy because I don't even know he exists. So yeah, I'm glad he speaks up, self serving or not. I'd like to hear more from Kelly, Matis or McMaster. I suspect we will.
And that's the difference between an opportunist and a hero. The opportunist stays and accepts the paycheck for as long as possible, then writes a "tell-all" book to get rich off the experience. A hero looks around and blows the whistle, knowing the risks involved but doing the right thing--not for profit but for truth--anyway.
