The USA have to play their NHL best players (dream team) to have abled representation in the Olympics.
Olympics should be non professional sports people. Unfair advantage to smaller countries that dont have the big training budgets. Great win by Slovakia

@@russe19642 summer olympics are fairer as it’s less expensive to facilitate the sports present there such as Running, javelin or high jump. whereas with Winter Olympics, to fund a team is mega expensive and for many nations they may not fund a team they know would no chance of winning even bronze, easy to see where they are coming from as some of these players have other jobs and play their sport on a semi professional level anyways especially in nations where There sport isn’t as big as it is in other countries particularly America. Cool Runnings goes into this concept where the team don’t get any funding from their olympic board to help them get equipment and to train as they know that Jamaica wouldn’t do well in Bobsleigh, which isn’t what the olympics should be about anyways and I ain’t preaching you get an attendance trophy or something but the soul of the olympics should be to compete to bring back the gold but also push other nations to do better, if the professional athletes could play in the Ice Hockey, it’d be back to either USA, Canada and Russia consistently winning and all other nations would just be battling for 4th. This way everyone has a shot for gold. Americans, Russians and Canadians may not like it cause it means less chance for them to win but it’s about every nations interests, not the big three. Bit preachy IK but I’ve had to argue this with stubborn people when I try to get them interested in the Winter Olympics.
@@proleterriert8075 maaaate I'm from Australia, we're the second driest continent in the world and I know what you mean by it being an expensive sport compared to the summer Olympics. I don't even know why we're there. Most of our competitors ain't your average working class individuals, they're also in the more modern events such as all the X Games type of events and not your traditional cross country skiing etc. But Aussies being Aussies we'll have a crack at anything,gees we're even in the European song competition for some unknown reason and nearly won it. But the point I was initially making was it must be hard for the professional hockey players sitting back watching the Olympic basketball having professional players represent their country.
