Bedřich Smetana composed this piece completely deaf... with starting madness from infection affecting his brain. True genius suffering in his last years finding his only relieve in love with music and his homeland. This is just a pure joy and love, source of my proud to live in such a wonderful land, in a very bottom of my heart.
My grandfather immigrated from there.
Your name in Czech would be Beneš :)
@@onoff8520 yes, it would be!
You all probably dont care but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Damari Decker instablaster =)
When this popped up in CZcams I thought no way can one organist do this piece justice. He did and what an instrument!
Ještě Gert van Hoef
What an organist controlling the instrument!
That is the first piece of classical music I ever heard, i was about 8 years old and our music teacher told us the story about the river, I’m 71 now and still love this piece, and it sounds really good on the organ. Well done Jonathan.
Aaw
Bravo Maestro, it's a great pleasure to see your comment !!!!!!
Malcolm, I am a 70 year old Scotsman and I also love the Moldau/ Ma Vlast and I have spent a few very happy times on a small boat lazily travelling on the river with some great friends anchored and playing different versions with a very nice glass of wine. Truly enchanting times.
Malcolm sargeant like you this was the first piece of classical music I heard ma vlast was the the first lp(actually 2) my family bought. My mother could play piano though I never heard her but my late brother did . Perhaps that’s why I like classical can’t play or read music 🎶 .
Same age as you Malcolm and the same goes for me !.It was featured in the BBC Radio series on Fridays for children called ' Time and Tune ' and has always left an indelable memory
I am from Czech republic and this is my favourite piece by Bedřich Smetana. Is so beautiful hear anything, what's from your town.
I am from Brno.
I very love this music, all music of the brothers Scott !
I listen "Svatojánské proudy", now. So nice!
My teacher was Mr. Josef

Víta - The organ.
Good evening. Marcela
@Luigi Raimondo Pomo Yes, it's true. Greetings from Ostrava!!!
How beautiful.

I listened to Moldau hundred times, but never on organ. Stunning beauty of music plus masterful performance left me breathless. I cannot thank you enough.
@Eva Balga Also check out some excellent harp versions
Jonathan Scott is a genius
@@benvra Thanks.
If there really are aliens watching us they must be hella confused. On the one hand we can be so cruel, heartless, and our own worst enemy - and at the same time we are capable of creating this piece of beauty, soul and wonder. Why are we so complicated? What a performance!
Jonathan's brain is thinking "this hand does this, and the other hand does that and my feet do this". My brain is thinking "how the hell does he do all that". A perfect performance of a beautiful piece of music.
There is a point in musician's life where there is no hands but an instrument, and you don't have to manage separate 2 hands concurrency anymore as your brain has learned to manage them a a whole. Still having to study some fragments as separate voices to speed up and error correction
When I type on my keyboard (I'm a programmer) without looking at it I'm writing words, not thinking "This hand does that, and this hand does that" :) The same goes with an organ. The same goes with manual transmission car etc. At first you think and create these connections in your brain. Then it's just sequences firing up as you do things on a much higher level of abstraction.
I am from the Czech Republic and my grandmother and grandfather played the organ all their lives and I would very much like to believe that they had the opportunity to listen to this composition from heaven in your performance.
This piece works so well as an organ transcription. Beautiful!
Jonathan is nothing short of an organ genius! His arrangements of any piece of music are magical. He brings glorious joy to me as I listen and watch in awe of his mastery of the organ keys and pedals.
That feeling when you're listening to the orchestral version then he suddenly publishes the organ version
Mmmmmm nice
A stunningly grand piece from Jonathan. He never fails to impress and move me with his brilliance.
He really was a great organist and entertainer.
@@charlesdavis7087 Was?! Please don't scare me!! Hopefully, you are talking about John Scott we sadly lost in 2015. He was also a wonderful organist on both sides of the Atlantic. But I sincerely hope this glorious JONATHAN SCOTT will be with us for many, many years to come and be greatly blessed while among us.
I live in Rochdale, my wife is from Prague and this is her favourite piece of classical music. We can’t wait to see the Town Hall reopen once the restoration is completed over the next few weeks and months. Hopefully someone will play this magnificent music on the organ in this fantastic old building again. Thank you for the brilliant performance.
This is a real masterpiece! When I close my eyes, I can trully see the river Vltava (Ger. Moldau), from its spring, how it strenghtens its stream, how it runs through the city of Prague and flow till its end in the river Elbe... 😍
This is an extract from a full online concert given by Jonathan on this organ which is also uploaded on this channel. In that concert he introduces each piece he plays and for this his own arrangement of VLTAVA for solo organ he discusses what the story that Smetana was telling. Its worth listening to his remarks.
In mancher Hinsicht ist es großartiger als ein Orchester!!! 3:50 Insbesondere der Teil, der eine Dorfhochzeit darstellt, ist so wunderbar und schön.
I thought their wedding was next to a river...
The comments are world class! Jonathan and Tom, I hope you *feel the admiration and love from all these fellow travelers you inspire to comment.
I just recalled how one brilliant Saturday afternoon I pulled into a bus stop at Falls rd. and 41st st. Eastbound on the #22 line in Baltimore, Md.. a very pleasant lady boarded and we began a conversation about classical music. I mentioned the “Moldau” whereupon she told me she is related to the composer. I broke out into a body aura such as never I had experienced. The joy and honor of actually meeting a relative of Smetana succeeds all expectations as an ardent music lover. I feel it was a special gift of grace from The Lord Jesus that thrills me on every remembrance. “You never know how things will turn out!!!” BRAVA! PWG
Lovely. And what a beautiful hall and organ. Those town fathers certainly had some pride. And now I guess they can't even keep the library open - what chance would they have of finding the money to build something to that standard in 2021? And would any committee believe that a town should even own an organ? May it stand for a very long time.
Albert Schweitzer wrote something to the effect that"the Organ has a unique spiritual quality and grandeur"...and here we are !👌
Piękny utwór i pięknie zagrany
Absolutely divine...!!! Kisses from Spain!!!
I actually get the chills when I hear this. It's really really beautiful.
I learned to play the clarinet when I was young. You can produce one note at a time. On a piano you can do ten, on an organ you even have your feet to make a sound. Never had the talent to do so. Always impressed by people who can.
Omg I'm crying
I'm not🤨..well maybe 🤏...well actually yes...that's me 👉😭
I don´t always say or write this (even on our national music treasure, which I hold dear and in highest respect) but this is flawlessly performed Moldau.. and it is also wonderful to see how versatile organs are.. it is simply stunning how a single instrument is capable to portray almost any musical piece.. (mostly classic that is). This video is too an example of one good in a million youtube suggestions that actually appeal to me.. opposite to all those millions that don´t..
Organ is not simple instrument, jts more as DJ keyboard
@ Lex Smith as Mozart said "The organ will ever be the King of Instruments"
Thank you very much. 🇨🇿🇬🇧
Thank You for Your Masterpieces :) Greetings from Czech
Unbelievable! Wonderful!
Grandissimo Jonathan Scott bravissimo.
Brilliant!
Repeat listening simply deepens my appreciation of the genius of the Scott brothers.
Thank you so much for performing this piece most wonderful! I am from the Czech republic and therefore this piece is special indeed for me!
Grand and magnificent.
Superbe! Bravo!
Incredible
Diese Melodie mit den eindrucksvollen Bildern ist unglaublich gut. Mir fehlen die Worte .
The organ playing, the organ registrations and the video editing just spot on. Loved it all. Congratulations.
WONDERFUL ! That was the BEST Rendition Of the MOLDAU Yet !!
E I N F A C H G R O S S A R T I G !!!
Ganz großes Lob.
Alles erste Sahne, Komponist, Instrument und nicht zuletzt Jonathan Scott.
Ich habe die Moldau schon in sehr vielen Variationen gehört, diese hier ist mit Abstand eine der Besten.
Beautiful. I am from Czech republic. I hear Vltava frst time on organ. Nice, beautiful.
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Magnifique,trés belle interprétation
As usual, a masterful performance by one of the most highly skilled and talented organists around. Besides the musical mastery behind those hands and feet, his flawless sense of dress is to be commended.
This work by Smetana is one of my absolute favorite pieces ever. The organ version is absolutely impressive.
What a delightfully unconventional instrument to play this piece on. The arrangement is as amazing, as is the artist's playing.
Bravo !
Beatiful
Great composition, beautiful organ transcription, beautiful soft and powerful sound and as always perfect perforfmance. Thank you. From Russia with delight.
This speaks to my heart and my heart is moved close to tears. Tears of joy and amazement at the beauty of this composition.
Bellísima interpretación ❤❤❤
One of my all-time favorite pieces of music played on favorite instrument. Magnificent! Thank you!
Beautiful sounds smetama is feel relax. He has technique an organist.
I agree🙏🇹🇷
This is literally the best thing I have ever heard. Looking forward to learning to play the pipe organ. Starting next year
At one time I seriously thought about studying the pipe organ, but I soon realized that I couldn't synchronize both hands AND my feet. I really do think organ and Violin are the most difficult instruments to play well.
@@jamesrawlins735 Yes I agree but they are difficult for different reasons. Playing organ is hard because of the multitasking involved, violin is hard because you need to know exactly where to put your finger on the string to get the desired note. This among others is probably part of the reason why the violin is the Queen of instruments and the pipe organ the King.
my favorite piece played absolutely stunningly. thanks very much
Bellísimo ❤❤❤
Magnificat! Beautiful translation of this Czech classic music on organ!
Pure Majesty!
One of my favourite pieces of music, brilliantly played!
Thrilling performance! This piece always makes me smile. Thank you for making your wonderful transcription available!
Im playing this piece this year with my orchestra. Good playing, it touches my heart
Well, it WOWed me enough to buy the CD.
My favourite thank you from Australia 🇦🇺
Its amazing!
Perfection!
Amazing!!!! We love the stop combinations!
What an amazing musician you are. Thanks.
Simply beautiful!
The Maestro again delivers flawlessly. Fantastic.
A truly fantastic transcription! I could hear so many of the orchestral instruments as you played. BRAVO!!
At the end of the piece, the Vltava flows calmly into the Labe River.
Marvellous! Thank you.
wonderful playing and lovely instrument .
So beautiful
Úžasné!!
To se tak krásně poslouchá.... 😊
tears in my eyes, great joy in my heart. A big thank you!!!
C'est impressionnant et sublime!
Великолепный орган и великолепное исполнение. Браво!
Great addition to the organ repertoire, works so well for the organ, and isn't the town of Rochdale, perhaps not everyone's first idea of an artistic town, so fortunate to have such a splendid organ in such a splendid Victorian gothic building. Well done citizens of Rochdale for looking after your heritage. and thank for the great playing. And now I'm listening for the second time, the arrangement is truly stunning, I had tears in my eyes......
Fantastic audition Jonathan.
I'm from Czech Republic. Thank you very much! It's very nice transcription! :-)
When I went to Prague almost two years ago, I listened to this music. I first time listened to this music at a music class when I was a 5th grade student at my grade school in Japan. Our teacher was a music specialised teacher, and he played every time a classical music by Sony's tape recorder ( but not by a tape but by a steel string reel(?) at the beginning of the music class 68 years ago. When I listen to this music, I have a little sad feeling especially at the very beginning of the music. I don't know why. But it is a very pretty piece of music.
Lovely memory you share with us! And amazing how music can call up emotions from our early childhood.
Gives me the chills!
Magical arrangement, performance and photography. Just perfect.
Bravo.
If you did the transcription, I do hope you’ll continue transcribing orchestral masterpieces! We really enjoy your lockdown concerts online!
Perfect extract from the online concert on June 5th, superb in both sound and vision. Very evocative of Prague too!
THANK YOU! Wonderful playing, great transcribtion, amazing organ. If only i could express my delight in english. As Czech, I totally adore this piece. From time I started watching your videos and playing harmonium myself I always wandered, if you to would some day performe Vltava on Harmonium and piano... still the organ version is trilling and absolutely spot on. Thank you! In czech: Děkuji moc, přenadherná interpretace, geniální využití rejstříků varhan, Bedřich Smetana by byl pyšný!
Greetings from Czech republic!
Very 🌟WONDERFUL & 💎BEAUTIFUL 🌊" VLTAVA "( Moldau)- ORGAN (🎹🎶 Smetana) and Video!!! 💐
Magnificent. Simply magnificent.
Thank you Jonathan absolutely wonderful. Thank you Tom for the magical video. Bless you both!
Wow, awesome!!
love it.
Superb piece of music and composition - but an even better performance by Jonathan - a musical genius !
Thank you both for your work. Really, at a loss for words. You seem to live in your artforms with a perfectly natural simplicity...
Lovely as always! Thank you! 🤗👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
SUBLIMIA , SVBLIMIA ....
Opus originale est sublime.
Transcriptio est sublime.
Sublimis est interpretatio.
I am (almost) from Czech republic and this piece of Smetana is very close to my heart. Also, I love the organ as an instrument, so for me this is a match made in heaven. Plus, beautiful arrangement and great playing. Thank you! :) Edit: Wow! You even included a picture of Smetana´s grave in the Vyšehrad cemetery - on of my favourite places in Prague, where many great people of the nation found their resting place. Respect!
Brilliance equal to Ludwig Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Handel - never heard of him and extraordinary organist that sends my heart and soul to a higher level of divine music ever heard. Thank you. Jeff
Simply wonderful!
