Hi, my name is Kaylee Gulick and this is my first year in the AVID program. I've only been in it for about two months now but its already helped me so much. At my school we watch this video alot. I've seen it about six or so times but no matter how many times i watch it i love it just a little bit more each time. I now a lot of people out there won't care about this comment and won't even bother to look at it. But for those who do look at this i just wanted to let all of you know how great AVID is. It really does change lives like it's changed mine in only a few short months and many years to come. I will go to college one day and i will thank every one of my teachers and friends and family who have supported me my whole life. Thank you.

All of the videos on here seem to say that avid helps, but now how. What personality traits do you need and how does it help?
You have done a mistake, boy. Avid isn't that great. People say that it depends on your school, but my school is great in the eyes ( and it is historical ) of the media and my county. And some people like it, but I don't. And the avid program is fucking worse.
avid is full of crap it slows you down lowers your grade it's a bunch of extra work your avid teacher will make you stay in the class until you graduate and they will say all your grades matter in middle school they really don't matter unless your taking a language you don't need to worry much until 9thgrade I urge you to not join and quit avid

I'm currently a 7th grade AVID student and I must say that I disagree with your statement. AVID helps me keep track of my GPA. The first time we checked our GPA's I had a 3.1. That's not good enough for me. I'm working more towards raising my grades and getting better with each subject. I don't slack off as much while taking important notes. I can keep my things organized and we'll put together, which makes me feel more professional. When we do TRF's and tutorials it feels like a study group setting that could be helpful in University. I'm aiming for colleges like MIT, Harvard, or Yale. AVID has helped me a lot because of my will to work hard. This program can only do so much but it's YOU who determines where you'll be in 10 years.
