Historical hair oiling grew my own hair from chin length to tailbone length, and today we are trying it on Edytaâs straight blonde hair as a masque to see what happens!
Historical hair oiling (in various forms) has been used all around the world for as long as we can tell, and it is a time-tested way to grow longer, thicker, and healthier hair. I am now selling my own hair oil blend that I have been using different iterations of for many years, and I have spent the past several months refining and perfecting it. But whether you use my herbal hair oil blend, or just a bottle of olive oil from your kitchen, the benefits of regular hair oiling are enormous.

Any recommendations for someone who has difficulty parting their hair a bunch of different ways/times to apply the oil and doesn't have anyone to help? I really want to use this technique, but my joints won't tolerate all the parting.
Hi Katherine, Thank you for this video presentation. I have hair similar to your type. I am a long haired male, 45, Caucasian, dark brown wavy to curly hair, type 2B/2C. I have average thickness hair, all natural hair with just the tiniest amount of grey mixed in. I am fairly handsome, so have some eye appeal for a model. I would love to be in your next hair oiling video assuming you would like to try this process on another hair type to promote your products to consumers. I live in the New York area but willing to travel. Let me know if this is something you might wish to try. I enjoy your channel very much.
Hi, I noticed that your hair oil is coloured, like yellow-brownish? Do you have any thoughts on hair oil that can be used for grey hair or even white hair, that we don't want stained from the oil? Thank you
Katherine's videos are the perfect example of unintentional ASMR: her voice is so sweet and relaxing and of course the hair play and combing/brushing sound is magical
Iâm not sure how itâs possible, but you doing her hair, makes me feel like youâre doing mine and itâs so calming
I agree!
look up ASMR lol
Sounds like you have ASMR :)
đŻ
That's the goal, glad you enjoyed it!
Please do more hair videos with the straight hair! Also would love to see the clay wash on her hair
Voting yes for more demos with clay washing please. This was lovely to see, thank you both!
I once put coconut oil from a jar on my hair and warmed it with a hair dryer , my hair was the softest smoothest it had ever been , my young grandson could not stop touching it , it was bleached and dry before
I've always been curious about hair oiling techniques from different cultures. Your detailed explanation of the benefits and method makes it seem so practical and rejuvenating. It's inspiring to see traditional practices like this being revived. Thanks for sharing your herbal hair growth oil blend - sounds like a real gem!
Thank for your feedback!
Cool to see you using a different hair type but your hair looks so lovely! Would love an updated video on your hair routine. Or a demo on your sister with 4c hair (same as me). I love your videos so much! Thanks a lot â€â€â€
Yes, a hair care demo with my sister is something I would like to do! Her hair is currently back in braids but maybe she would be up to demo'ing some scalp care with me.
My husband says the oil I make smells like celery đ but i dont care, it works wonderfully, my hair has never been so thick and healthy.
I think It smells like an Indian restaurant and I am totally fine with that though I canât speak for my husband đ who wisely just supports me and refrains from comments
đ
My new blend smells much less like an Indian restaurant. I really wanted to keep the benefits while getting the smell more refined âș
Iâm getting sleepy just watching and Iâm only 8 minutes in.
I did the dry shampoo from your last video and my hair still feels clean with a daily scalp massage followed by a light brushing. I donât know when Iâll actually need to wet it again. Iâve been a bit concerned about developing a funky odour but hubby assures me my hair still smells nice. I used lavender and frankincense EO in the powder. Also, there was no need to worry about the cocoa powder discolouring my fair hair.
Iâm so thankful for all of your great hair care tips.
I got sleepy too! I thought at first I was bored, but watching her and listening to her voice was just so soothing!!! â€
Katherineâs videos give me chills, the good kind that you get when you get a really good massage or when you are soaking in a nice bath. đ„°
Okayyy, I definitely used way too much Jojoba oil when I tried following your earlier video. My hair is similar to Edyta's hair and it helped to see the oil application on her. A clay washing demo would be great! I'll check out your new hair oil! Thanks!
Me too. My hair is thin and straight, and I used way too much oil before. I couldn't get it out!
Yes pls for more straight hair videos! Awesome SIL and wonderful model. Thanks to both of you ladies ans congrats on getting your oil bottled for market!
This is super helpful! Great to see how to apply this to straight hair. I pre-ordered and am excited to try out your oil when it arrives in a few weeks! I would LOVE to see a clay wash demo on her straight hair. I'm intrigued by the idea but not knowing how to do it for my hair type has definitely been holding me back from testing that method.
I will plan for that video very soon!
Thanks for the straight hair videos! Your hair looks beautiful too. I started hair oiling when you uploaded your first haircare video and it's helped so much with split ends and shine! Also Edyta's accent is so calming I love it
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Iâd love to see a clay wash on your SIL! Super relaxing video â€
I genuinely want to see the whole routine on black hair of the different textures. I have high porosity curly hair.
Her hair is glorious!
I just ordered your oil, I'm excited to try itđ
I love and enjoy your historical hair treatments đđ thank you for sharing these helpful tips đ You both have beautiful hair!!
Yes please more videos on treating straight hair
You make oiling her hair so calming
Ooo Claywashing sounds exciting to learn about
Greetings from Middle England! đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż â€
I have to express my sincere gratitude for your wonderful content, I have been moving away from chemicals on my skin over the last few years and make my own natural body products, so I was in search of an alternative to the treadmill of modern shampoo and conditioner, I stumbled across your channel and was absolutely enthralled, Totally fits with my philosophy as also Iâm intrigued with historical remedies.
At the moment I have your recipe oils steeping in a dark cupboard, about another week and they should be ready.
A pack of rasoul clay s waiting to be used tomorrow, I will experiment but wait for your hair wash on straight hair video with baited breath
Huge thanks â€
Yes please would be keen to see a clay wash on straight hair.
Wonderful demo- thank you! And Yes! Yes! Clay wash for Edita please! (P.S.: bought the oil!)
A video on how /what you use to shampoo and condition the hair would be helpfulâ€
You are so sweet and wonderful! Each time I see your video I learn more and more !! I'm going to watch this one more !! Awwww! Big hugs â€
1. Could you recommend a bonnet company??
2. Which kind of bonnet do you perfer?
3. Which kind do you find most comfortable??
4. Which one have you found that has longevity??
5. Could you link it, or create a video and link it?
Many companies sell them, I know, but I worry they aren't selling real silk or it's of mixed materials.
A clay wash video would be amazing! I have been so intrigued ever since hearing you use Rhassoul Clay and would love a demo. Plus, how you incorporate ACV too. I have 3B curls and desperately want long hair and to keep all my routine as natural as possible. Love your videosđđ
I did want to take a look at your link unfortunately it isn't secure it is http instead of the safer https. Please consider upgrading to https to ensure buyers details are kept safe and encrypted.
Yes please do a demo of the clay wash on her hair! đ
Hi Katherine, where did you get that amazingly beautiful hair comb?
I would absolutely love to see the clay wash with straight hair as its closer to my hair type!! đ I am so excited, I'm going to be using oil on my hair for the first time tomorrow! I can't wait to see and feel how it goes!! My hair comes to my mid thigh and is a bit damaged from bleach. So I think this is going to make a big difference!!! †Thank you so so much for teaching us so much! I wouldn't know any of this if it wasn't for you! Thank you so so much!!! â€đâ€
Thanks for your feedback!
Hi! So Iâve watched your channel intermittently and been intrigued by your methods. I think Iâm going to try this, not to grow longer hair per se, but to increase strength and vitality to my head . Thanks †i love a very natural solution and I love oils on my skin so, should be good for my scalp too. đđ
You can do it!
I wanna be your before and after success sssoooooooo bad!â€â€â€ canât wait for this to arrive!
She just needs a really good trim, to get all the fried ends off. The oil does help, I just use coconut oil, yet to move into other oils.
Iâm wondering if your sisterâs hair is highlighted?
My hair has highlights and it gets dry and I love how your sisters hair looks so silky after your oil treatment
Please do an updated comprehensive haircare routine! đ đ
I'll keep this in mind!
My hair is shedding so dramatically. I'm hopeful that using this will help.
My teen took my jojoba oil, so I swiped some of my husband's sandlewood beard oil, lol. But it doesn't contain the herbs you mentioned, so I should get some of that.
Hellođ, I've read that it's bad to rub the dropper on the scalp and throughout the hair, then put inside the bottle, because that transfers bacteria, sebum, dust, etc. from the hair into the rest of the oil. Therefore, contaminates and spoils it faster. Even when its clean there's still a risk. Pleaseđ, what is your opinion on this?
Yes you're right, technically the best practice is to try not to touch it to the scalp. In my personal experience, I have never had a problem with this, however. But if you are worried try to avoid touching it to your scalp. You could drop the oil onto your finger tips and apply it like that.
@@KatherineSewing Thank you for answeringđ
You have inspired me to switch to a sandalwood comb and boar bristle brush and hair oil to grow my hair super long
If you put conditioner on the ends of your hair before washing it protects the drier ends as they do not get the oil from the scalp and donât need as much detergent shampoo ,
Yes! Go for it.
Where did you get that beautiful comb please?
I tend to use coconut oil on mine but i have bad psoriasis so im wary of some things although i can go months without washing it even using coconut oil weekly on it although in same way i majority on scalp only and massage into salp then brush through my lengths
Yes do a clay washing video
How often do you oil your hair?
Your ingredients are fantastic in this oil. I have all the ingredients already (because I make a lot of products myself) except I ran out of the rose oil. I have to steep some more. I read the story of Mlle. Aline Vallandri hair and she was ahead of her time. I am afraid to constantly brush my hair all the like she dos though. Shame her recipe can not be shared but I hazard to guess we use similar ingredients nowadays if not better. Perhaps.
Would the hair oil be helpful for a younger child who has wavy wild hair?
I am excitedly waiting for your oil. Do you do the mid wash first, then add the oil? I'm unsure of the process. I bought the mud cleaner you recommend and am planning to use it Saturday morning. I'm fortunate as I've been only washing on e a week with herbals shampoo and have been having good luck. However, it is. Ot helping grow my hair. I've got very fine and. Ow thinning hair. Currently taking biotin and collegen to help with skin, hair, and nails.
It's ready to purchase now! katherinehaircare.com. I typically do the oil treatment masque a day before I wash.
Hi Katherine, i hope you are doing good. I have a question and that is: is the clay method good for a very sweattie head? Because i workout 5 days a week, and i live in a hot climate and when i sweat my hair ends up wet, so by day 3 i have to wash it because of the sweat. So i was wondering if that method can be good for me? I tried the rhassoul clay for thre weeks and my hair ended up worse and my curls so disgusting.
I had bought all the ingredients for the hair oil from previous videos. It was quite costly. I wish I had know your own version was going to be available.
I'm not just saying this but already I can see a difference, it's shinier and a bit more abundant, please keep it up and share your SIL's journey with us, can't wait to see more!
That outfit is bomb. Did you make it? Can you talk about that at all? I kind of need to make that blouse. đ
i dont understand why oils work for some people and for me they just dont. My hair becomes greasy and even if i wash it thoroughly, the hair either feels heavy and gross, or becomes sticky the next day. I noticed that much lighter products like serums, gels or natural leave in conditioners work better, but still, the softness doesnt last more than a day.
Try using a clarifying shampoo afterwards or a shampoo bar. This should help.
@@p11450 thank you ill try
Yes, you may be using too much oil, too heavy of an oil, or simply not rinsing it out enough. Try using half the amount of oil next time and see what happens.
I find watermelon seed oil is like water. You could dilute heavier oils with it or use it alone. Also you can dilute an oil blend with pure aloe Vera gel. Just dilute it every time you want to oil your hair and not mix it in the oil bottle. It will contaminate it. Just some suggestions that have helped me. đđŒ
Add the shampoo to your dry hair ,massage across your scalp a bit, then gradually add the water. Putting water first, followed by shampoo will not wash out excessive oil.
Katherine. I've been following your hair rituals and my hair is growing so fast. How would you recommend I put my hair at night? Everyday in a bonnet or some days in a pineapple or bun? Should I buy a money for long hair or a bonnet that's short?đ
I donât use shampoo anymore and itâs going well because of cornstarch but If I were to oil my scalp could cornstarch be enough to remove it? Iâm nervous to try. It soaks up the oil I put on my ends well but that is pretty minute.
I have a question, how do I clean my wooden comb? It isn't wide toothed, it's actually for beards. But it's been doing what I need it to do, I just don't know how to clean it
Edit: also, how do you clean your boar bristle brush? Im trying to go no shampoo so Im really unsure what to do
I would like to buy your herbal hair growth oil how can l buy
katherinehaircare.com
totally ASMR...
My hair is extremely fine, will this oil help it?
Yes, but use a small amount if you have fine hair!
This video is definitely accidental ASMR
Great, something for my Polish hairđ
Haha love it!
Is this oil suitable for silver hair? Would it stain or change the colour of the hair?
It's unlikely, but it could possibly darken over time due to the amla. Do a strand test first.
How will a strand test indicate effects that happen over time?
I have low porosity hair. My hair doesnât absorb oils very well. Do you have any advice for low-porosity hair?
My hair used to be much lower porosity than it is now. I think my natural hair care routine has helped correct it.
Anybody here ever use a comb made from animal horn? It's supposed to also distribute the oil along the hair. My hair is really long, straight, and tangles easily. I ordered a wide tooth horn comb to try along with my wooden and boar bristle brushes.
Thanks for demonstration on a straight hair model, maybe some tips will help me.
I haven't yet, but would like to try a horn/bone comb!
Is this hair oil also suitable for grey, curly-kinky and coarse hair over 60? My hair is long, but the structure is a real mess (i am oiling my scalp and lengths with an ayurvedic hair oil every week and do clay washes, apple cider rinses or wash my hair with a special mild shampoo for neurodermitis after the oiling). The new grey or white hair growing out is standing like wiry, kinky antennas around my head đą
"The new grey or white hair growing out is standing like wiry, kinky antennas around my head "
Sounds like new hair growthđđ
I am 61 and using this hair oil (I mixed up a batch about over a month ago) and...wow, is all I have to sayđŻ
Yes definitely. I agree with the other commenter- that sounds like new hair growth and increased hair strength to me. I currently have that going on with my new growth. It's a good sign and it will settle down as the hair grows in more.
I have found after using hair oiling I have a lot of hair fall when finger detangling. I used your recipe link and have very curly but not very thick hair. I remember in the past using coconut oil which created fab curls but lots of hair falling. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Tania â€
Sometimes if oil is overused/not rinsed out well enough this can happen. You could try using less oil, switching to a lighter type of oil, and washing it out more thoroughly.
Thank you so much I really appreciate your advice. I forgot to ask if you use bentonite as a hair wash. I have loads of it lol. I am struggling with hair thinning underneath my hair and it not growing. Hairdresser is baffled lol. I am 49 and sick of everything being blamed on the menopause!! Which I am not in yet. Thank you Katherine â€
I am empathetic to you. I am having same issue. Curly hair, quite alarming amount of hair fallâ@Pipalopee
I am having a struggle with my hair routine; itâs been ongoing for a few months nowâŠIâve been using your clay-wash recipe and the rinse as well, but my hair is absolutely awful! It feels waxy and even more difficult to comb out. I finger de-tangle and I got wooden combsâŠalmost everything, but I canât get anything through it. It does seem to be growing and not falling out quite so my hair, so am I doing something wrong?
Itâs also very fly-awayâŠa lot of static.
why, though? from your videos, you look like you have beautiful healthy hair. you have a different hair type than she does. even hers looks waxy. her hair was already curly and with lots of volume when she started her all natural routine.
I would really love to buy your oil but I'm from Portugal and I'm afraid it will arrive broken or lost
We pack our orders very carefully and use tracked shipping for all our orders.
â€â€â€â€

Which are the lighter oils, and which the heavier ones? I would guess coconut oil and castor oil are heavy. What about Argan oil?
I have very fine hair, and would like to use the lightest oil possible.
*I have noticed that hair changes its preferences.
(I don't know why YT doesn't allow me to edit my comment. It becomes very annoying. I wouldn't be surprised to notice that both of my comments have disappeared. It tends to do that quite often.)
Jojoba oil is very light and absorbs well into my very fine hair!
@@hburtch50 Thank you! I will try that.
Argan oil is light. So is jojoba and apricot oil. I use jojoba oil in my hair oil recipe.
@@KatherineSewing Thank you so much!
Many years ago I tried oiling my hair, but didn't know you need only a little. I slathered my hair in coconut oil, and it took a while to wash it out... đ€Ł My hair was amazing, nonetheless. But it was too much work washing it out, so I didn't do it again. Fortunately I found your video, now I know how to do it right.
I have her hair and don't get my oil out with your hairmask recipe :/ Doing something wrong...
How much oil are you using, how long do you let it sit in your hair, and how do you try to wash it out?
