From Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the NBC series revolving around Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), a New York City Police Department (NYPD) detective in Brooklyn's fictional 99th Precinct, who often comes into conflict with his commanding officer, the serious and stern Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher). The series also stars Terry Crews as Sargeant Terry Jeffords, Melissa Fumero as Amy Santiago, Stephanie Beatriz as Rosa Diaz, Chelsea Peretti as Gina Linetti and Joe Lo Truglio as Charles Boyle.

heard alotta former inmates talk about how crimes involving kids or animals paints a huge target on ya...then again, the comments were on reddit from ppl claiming to be former inmates so take it with a grain of salt but honestly, sounds legit.
a guy who's in prison for just committing tax fraud or partook in organized criminal activity to keep their family afloat and a guy who bashed in pedophiles heads in with a hammer would probably want a cannibal who went after kids dead lmao

lol. He cannot eat everything of the 'evidence'. What happen to the bones, nails, teeth or hair? Probably why he got caught.
Ground bones are a central ingredient for gelatin; he COULD eat hair but the amount he would be consuming would likely give him severe abdominal issues over time (like create a stomach blockage) or might be pooped out undigested. Also, some people that bite their nails will swallow the parts they chewed off.

The weird and fascinating thing is every time they go to see Caleb you know the joke is going to be him trying to eat someone, is so predictable but at same time so funny. It literally never gets old.

I wonder if they show him getting more crazy each time they visit is because he hasn’t eaten another person as his cravings get stronger more then passes. (Like how he was able to share a cell with Jake but later can’t even shake his hand without trying to eat him)
I love how Jake, despite the fact that Caleb has tried to eat him multiple times, still easily admits he considers Caleb a friend, and how Caleb will still go out of his way to help Jake and seems to enjoy his visits, as long as he (Caleb) is safely restrained and unable to bite him. It’s a weird friendship, but it works for them.

He said he wasn't a cannibal then immediately tried to eat someone... Maybe he can't be trusted?
He also said that he ate only children,but in later episodes he tried to eat Jake and Boyle. Writers forgot about this part too
My theory on all this is that he simply can’t satisfy his urges in prison and is losing it because he isn’t being treated.
Outside he’d just eat kids when he felt like it but do other stuff. Inside, he’s unable to exercise that urge and slowly goes stir crazy and gets more desperate to eat any human again, the things he says and does are in service of that goal.
Caleb needs psychiatric help, but isn’t getting any in prison
